fulanimafia: Impossible. Nigeria has other revenue sources, and will not stop oil production, regardless of the activities of criminal saboteurs. What are the other revenue sources? Sabotage so far has led to N725bn revenue shortfall monthly and made the implementation of our budget impossible. Many states cant pay salaries. So what's your point? |

mrvitalis: South Nigerian leaders are cowards
We went to national conference and the North bulled us into not recommending true federalism Infant we were more interested in more state creation that's the leaders will gain from than what benefits there people Read the confab report and u will be shocked they are the ones shouting for it to be implemented, the only thing is that oil producing are will get 17% instead of 13% that's it, the rest favours the North as far as am Amnesty is just a temporary solution to the problem. More and more youths will ask for amnesty and those who are already enjoying it will ask for a better package. True federalism remains the true final solution to agitations in the Niger Delta. |
Politics › Re: Only True Federalism’ll End Militancy In N-delta —OGIASA by ImpersonatorSS: 7:21am On Jun 15, 2016 |
fulanimafia: That will never happen. Not under this administration, not under any APC or PDP government, not if the entire Niger Delta is flooded with oil from blown pipelines, not if the scAvengers blow up the entire region.
Massive development and clean-up of the Niger Delta? Certainly. Weakening the Presidency and reducing the power at the centre? Never.
Mark my word. By the time there is no more money to share in the centre, your eyes go clear. |

I don't mind state police but even in the USA you still have to take cases to Supreme Court and as long as it is dull ppl like you in the police or judiciary they can and will be First, South Sudan got independence not resource control. After, the common enemy was gone, the tribes turned on each other. Having said that, didnt the US also fight a civil war shortly after independence. Did it stop them from being a great nation eventually? Have you seen the end of South Sudan? Are you a loon@tic? What of countries that are successfully practising true federalism? Do they have 2 heads? Dont you know that true federalism provides many checks and balances for a highly diverse country like ours? Checks that dont exist and cant be enforced in this current system? |

mikolo80: Pls mention 3 parts of this restructuring. Ppl just keep using this word. I don't understand what they mean. What is wrong with the present structure Restructuring of the polity must lead to at least the ffg 2 scenarios: 1. Resource control by the states 2. State police If you dont see anything wrong with this structure, then you must be a dullard. I shouldnt be surprised;you are parasitic abooooki. |

mikolo80: I should be a westerner but I'm referred to as middle belt. I am a minority in my state. But we know how we make our voice heard. All you do is complain on nairaland.
Define restructuring. You can't. I can bet my life on it. You don't even know what it means. Even with dictionary. Describe true federalism. Same as above.
We complained during slavery Complained during colonisation Complained during first republic Complained during military rule Complained second republic Complained from three states To 9 states To 19 states To 36 states Parliamentary to presidential Option a 4 to the nonsense we have now. Without complain epp? Now it's poor true federalism we want to blame. Japan and Singapore have no single resource. Other countries rejected them.Israel's surrounded by hostile desert and hostile neighbours. Yet they have thrived . Federalism de him house de relax una just de blast him name anyhow. I knew it! You can never be a westerner. No true westerner will post like you do on this issue. What I am asking for in plain terms are these: 1. I want my state governor to have full control over all the solid mineral in the state. He be able to exploit and explore it as he deems fit and pay taxes to the FG instead of waiting for monthly federal allocation from the FG. 2. I want my state governor to have control of the security of my state to a certain extent. That's all! This current system has failed!! |

Are the other south western states lazy and devoid of ideas/innovations that they can not imagine life without allocation? whats the whole noise about please? Because Lagos is the common heritage of all Yorubas. Lagos is the melting pot for all Yorubas. |

1freshdude: Taken over by FG ke? let them merge if they can not sustain themselves standing alone. What if no one wants to merge with them? If your state is making a lot, will it want to carry another state's burdens on its head? |
Politics › Re: Regionalism Better Than True Federalism by ImpersonatorSS: 8:28am On Jun 14, 2016 |
SuperS1Panther: Not really. The Regions will not have Army now, though they will have Regional Police.
Army will still remain within the purview of FG.
The advantages of Regionalism out weighs that of State True Federalism.
My only fear is Regionalism might create some Regional lords that might be too powerful. That is left to the people in that region. That is why we should stick to the current 36-state structure as we opt for true federalism. The states have almost become homogeneous. Merging them into regions may cause fresh problems. |

ugohemma: u see it, my betrayal brothers have started again, so out of 420 elders none of them can come up with this ...but after we agree on fiscal federalism u now go to the back and reject it...u see Yorouba never change.....1967 playing itself here Dont mind the OP. He is just trying to be mischievous. The true federalism we are clamouring for is the same as regionalism. It's just that Nigeria now has 36 regions as against the 3/4 we had pre 1967. Any state that cannot survive can either merge with any other willing state or be completely taken over by the FG. |
Politics › Re: True Federalism, Its Advantages And Implications. by ImpersonatorSS: 11:09pm On Jun 13, 2016 |
lionshare: How many states were there in Nigeria then? Any state that is not viable is free to merge or be completely taken over by the FG. |
Politics › Re: True Federalism, Its Advantages And Implications. by ImpersonatorSS: 11:01pm On Jun 13, 2016 |
lionshare: Interesting, I see a lot of uninformed folks shouting True federalism lately. First and foremost, there is nothing like True Federalism in the real sense of it, you either have federalism or another system of government. Now,what i believe most people meant to say is Ideal federalism, though its noteworthy to asserts that federalism as systems takes into consideration the peculiarity of the people.
What I think people should clamor for is greater autonomy of the LG Ideal federalism has worked before (pre 1967 era) and it will work again and again. The current system has failed woefully. It encourages laziness and corruption. |
