calm down, yes Our lazy parents, i like the fact that you are a realist, Singapore is a city state, unitary system can work there, china has being under an Empire for more than a millennium, from there Unitarian System of government they are transcending into federal system just like they are transforming from a communist /socialist economy into a semi free market economy.
The Uk is a federation, so Also is India.
You cant rule out conflict in any human society, even in its smallest unit the family.

Have said it before development starts from bottom up not top bottom, if we develop our community and compete among each other, LGAs will develop, states will develop and the country at large will develop at its own pace, these idea of a states in the North to catch up with the south, if we continue this way till thy kingdom come, they wont catch up #facts.

But how many of these ppl here know how to grow an economy.
How many of them know their local govt office.
How many are leaders in their community.
Will just come and be forming baba isale on nairaland and think they wouldn't be called out.

Develop your community and shame will force the other person to emulate.

By the time there is no more money to share in the centre, the presidency and abokkki populated NASS will have no choice but to agree to restructuring the country.
Mind you, we are already in the time.
Did you hear of the N725bn federal revenue shortfall?

i understand where you are coming from, but are you aware that you cant grade or fix the road infrojt of your house without a permission from the Lga? they will tell you it has being budgeted for, all they are waiting is for funds to be released, for development to start at community level, we must pay taxes atleast 35% of our incomes, when Nigerians pay that much and a large part of it goes to the Lga, lets say 50% 30% to the state and 20% to the federal, lets see the baga that will eat the money at Lga level if the people wont burn him and his family together, Nigerians are looking the other way now because there is free oil money.

Everyone is shouting regionalism or true federalism citing laziness mentality in the current sytem as their reason. My question is this:is there any state that isn't dependent on oil presently? Are we saying that only the States blessed with crude oil currently have the right to be Lazy cos if regionalism comes into play today the proceeds from the sale of oil will go to only them (ie breeding worse spoilt lazy bones).
I'm a realist and the truth is: you can't just come on a hot day in a hot season when the entire country is experiencing so much hardship and start screaming regionalism/resource control. Even you own baby needs to be weaned over a period of time with the sole aim of pushing him/her to Independence. Remember this saying "The peace you make available to your neighbors is the peace you will enjoy", the mess we are currently in as a country needs to be cleaned to a reasonable extent and value reorientation needs to be established in the minds of many of us (especially our leaders) before any discussion about regionalism would yield the expected results.

Does having crude oil in a State translate to hard work by the people of that State? I seriously need to see the hard work in individuals from States blessed with crude oil who have been screaming regionalism like they are better than others.

I read here some days back that the FG is looking for major shareholders in the Brass LNG project in Bayelsa State. Instead of Bayelsa indigenes to look inward and motivate their billionaires to cease this opportunity, they will be playing dumb until outsiders partner with the FG then in a few years time, you will hear them screaming marginalisation listing names of outsiders that are benefiting from that project.

It's a real pity that we really don't know what our problems are in this great country. Bring regionalism today and see how the whack wicked greedy leaders usurp all the power and continue this vicious cycle over again. Even lazy bones are now calling others lazy like the crude oil in their region was brought there through their hard work.

Nobody want's to look inward cos the state is dependent on the federal for allocation. Since the head/system isn't working, the whole body can't function properly.
The merits of a federal system outweighs the ills.

How best do you think Nigeria can be restructured so as to get the best out of her?

For me, one of the best ways Nigeria can be restructured is to make political offices less lucrative! Trust me, it is only people who have passion to serve that will contest for elective posts! And we will be better for it

And for that to be done, the constitution has to be re-written!
The present constitution has so many loop holes. It is not helping our nationhood!

In addition, I believe for all these to happen Nigerians must see themselves and their neighbours firstly as Nigerians!

All these talks of my brother, your sister, my language man etc is just dividing us and it is making us to be going round in circles

The painful part is that it is we the masses that feels the pang of these ethnic and cultural divide mostly!

Let's see ourselves as one!

God bless
