Saudi Shias told to leave Awamiyah or die: Sources

Local sources in the al-Awamiyah town in Saudi Arabia’s Shia-populated Eastern Province say the locals have been told to either leave their homes or face death at the hands of security forces.

Since the early hours of Saturday, the Saudi forces have started taking the town under heavy shellfire, virtually barricading the public in their homes.

The sources said sharpshooters were training their fire on various targets from atop rooftops and inside armored vehicles. Ali al-Debisi, the leader of a Europe-based Saudi rights body, said the locals are afraid of going out for fear of coming under sniper fire.

Regime forces, meanwhile, continued to evict people from their homes in the town, they said.
The Qatif region in the province, where the town is located, has witnessed sporadic deaths of security personnel at the hands of unknown gunmen.

Blaming the Shia population for the attacks, Riyadh first started ordering security raids against the region before besieging the town and subjecting it to a so-called renovation project.

The project, which has featured wholesale destruction of age-old structures and rampant raids against various targets, has especially targeted the town’s historic Almosara neighborhood, where the government has been toughening living conditions in order to make people leave.

The sources said the forces were now offering people “safe conduct” to desert Almosara, and were combing the neighborhood for “holed-up terrorists.” Activists said the residents were resisting the eviction attempts.

On May 24, UN experts criticized the ongoing attempts to demolish Almosara and accused the Saudi kingdom of erasing cultural heritage, violating human rights, and forcing residents to flee their homes.

A month earlier, UN special Rapporteur Leilani Farha had warned that the controversial project threatened the historical and cultural heritage of Awamiyah “with irreparable harm."

"Residents have been pressured in many ways, including through power cuts, to vacate their homes and businesses without adequate alternative resettlement options, leaving them at best with insufficient compensation and at worst, with nowhere to go,” she said.

Fresh US-led airstrikes kill ten civilians in eastern Syria

At least ten civilians have lost their lives and dozens more sustained injuries when the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group carried out a string of airstrikes against Syria's eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr.

Local sources told Syria’s official news agency, SANA, that the aerial attacks targeted the village of Tayibe in the eastern part of the province, located 450 kilometers northeast of the capital Damascus, on Saturday, killing at least ten people and destroying the civilian infrastructure there.

The sources added that seven of the victims were members of the same family, noting that five children were among the dead.

The airstrike came only two days after at least 18 people were killed and another 20 others wounded after US-led military aircraft bombarded the same Syrian village.

On July 26, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least 29 people, including eight children, had been killed in a US-led strike against the Daesh-held northern Syrian city of Raqqah.

Tens of civilians were also killed or injured on July 24, when US-led airstrikes targeted al-Fansh crossroads in the city of Mayadin.

The US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be Daesh targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.

The military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of fulfilling its declared aim of destroying Daesh.

The city of Raqqah, which lies on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, was overrun by Daesh terrorists in March 2013, and proclaimed the center for most of the Takfiris’ administrative and control tasks the next year.
Syria has been fighting different foreign-sponsored militant and terrorist groups since March 2011. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated last August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the crisis until then.

US Navy commander says ready for nuclear strike on China if Trump ordered

The commander of US naval forces in the Pacific Ocean has warned he would launch a nuclear attack against China "next week" if ordered by President Donald Trump.

Admiral Scott Swift, the commander of the US Pacific Fleet, made the remarks on Thursday at a security conference at the Australian National University in the Australian capital of Canberra.

"The answer would be yes," he said, when responding to a hypothetical question about whether he would be prepared to launch a nuclear attack on China next week if ordered to do so by Trump.

Swift said that all members of the US military had sworn an oath to obey officers and the US president as commander in chief to defend the constitution.

Pacific Fleet spokesman Captain Charlie Brown later said Swift was addressing the principle of civilian authority of the military and his answer was based on an "outrageous hypothetical" question.

"Frankly, the premise of the question was ridiculous," he said. "It was posed as an outrageous hypothetical, but the admiral simply took it as an opportunity to say the fact is that we have civilian control of the military and we abide by that principle."

Last month, the US and Australia held a biennial military exercise off the Australian coast involving 36 warships, 220 aircraft and 33,000 military personnel.

The drills were monitored by a Chinese military intelligence-gathering ship from within Australia's 200-mile exclusive economic zone.

Washington and Beijing enjoy strong economic ties, despite frequent strains about jobs, trade, currencies, human rights, Tibet, North Korea, and the South China Sea.

Swift’s remarks came at a time of rising tensions between China and the US over the disputed South China Sea.

Earlier this month, the US sent two bombers over the waters, coming just a few months after it sent a warship to carry out a maneuvering drill within 12 nautical miles of one of China's artificial islands.

Beijing has repeatedly denounced efforts by countries from outside the region to get involved in the South China Sea dispute.

The US has long sought to limit China’s growing maritime influence in the sea, over most of which Beijing claims sovereignty.

US, S Korea conducting live-fire exercise in response to N Korea: Official

The United States and South Korea are conducting a military exercise in response to North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Pentagon says.

The two countries' military forces are using surface-to-surface missiles, according to a US defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday.

"We are doing a live-fire exercise in response to North Korea's missile launch," the official told AFP.

The military officials of the two countries earlier on the day discussed “military” options against North Korea for launching an ICBM.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis confirmed Friday that North Korea had launched an ICBM which flew for approximately 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) and crashed into Japan's maritime exclusive economic zone.

"We assess that this was an ICBM; this is a launch that had been expected," Davis said

Following the test, General Joe Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Admiral Harry Harris, who heads the US military's Pacific Command, held a phone conversation with South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Lee Sun Jin.

"During the call, Dunford and Harris expressed the ironclad commitment to the US-Republic of Korea alliance," Dunford's office said in a statement.

"The three leaders also discussed military response options."

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement, saying that the missile’s "characteristics were those of a medium-range ballistic missile."

According to the statement, the missile reached an altitude of 681 kilometers (420 miles) and flew for 732 kilometers before landing in the Sea of Japan, the statement said.
The missile launch was lamented by the European Union, which said the country posed "a serious threat to international peace and security."

Also, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe criticized Pyongyang for launching another missile and called a meeting of the National Security Council.

I don't know why the US can't mind their own business.

Because of Iran, US signed a $100 million dollars arm deal to Saudi Arabia. Whereas Saudi Arabia being being a rouge nation and the most stupid asssss licking US puppet are not getting the message but they will keep on threatening war with Iran here and there. (which Iran doesn't even ofcouse give a bleeep)

I don't know if it the arm deal that is making their head big, but God help them if they step one foot in Iran soil, Iran will turn that country (saudis) into a new ruin not minding if it is a holy place or not. With Russia off course 100% backing Iran up.

As for US sanctions on Iran, iran don't give a bleep about sanction. Even with all the sanctions their economy is better than Nigeria who doesn't have a sanction.

hey,,,even though is a veil, u Christians has refused to accept that it is good to cover once head as a female but only applicable to the Islamic doctrine,,,,come to think of it,,,,,,head cover,veil, hijab, kimar, Jalibab are all the same but only different in size, and shape.. The truth is it is not good to leave your head (particularly hair) uncovered, as well as the chest where someone can easily take a glance at ur boobs,breast or cleavages which make some people cover from head to chest.(you know what exposing boobs has done to the society now which you call civilization,,, RAPE,ADULTERY, prostitution, FURnication, juveniles delinquency, divorce, single ,parenting, marriage imbalance,infidelity,leading to all sort of atrocities in the civilized society.

Some christians do cover their hair depends on the denomination u are. eg catholics.
