heardis:I think you need to grow up |
Was someone thinking this to be true? This is one of the unrealizable campaign promises used to garner votes from gurible electorates. Time to prepare for a soft landing, and I thing that Op is an agent of the government, preparing a soft landing off the promise for the government. My take |
cramjones:I like your view. In as much as I share this sentiment, I want to ask, is it just about Buhari? Jonathan was called worst names. Where were you, and what was your stand? Nigerians went wild with insulting their Presidents since Jonathan. Bro, I guess this will continue, and perhaps increase in time, so better tell your man to brace up, since they never teamed up to stop it. Its time for the heat, and action. Thanks |
GenBuhari:I don't disagree with you completly sir, but you are telling us that our people are this foolish? |
ab4real15:I don't expect you to say anything less. But I challenge you to prove that Islam is a religion of peace and I will consider your point. Jesus was mentioned in your kolan. Did you ever read he killed? From the life of Muhammad one starts hearing of killings to his disciples today. The shouting 'peace' is used to deceive little minds like yourself whom I pity. Prove it. Brainwashed follower of a religion of blood. |
atbu1983:You are a saddist |
I wonder what is really happening, esp. with the accusations/ counter-accusations dt threald this issue in the past. Let me ask; * or is it that GEJ is finally living up to his promise on this? * or still, is it that GEJ is a victim of long orchested conspiracy, by some cabal who wants him out by all means? * Is it dt Buhari & co (arreged) haven won, is calling their boys to order, especially when compared with the work he recently gave to the founder of bringbackourgirls' group? *more still, is it that GEJ is determined to fulfill all his promises, especially in the light of the work second Niger bridge? One thing is clear GEJ wants to look back tomorrow and smile, saying to himself, that he lived up to many of his goals with honour. And I want say, that's great! |
Greedy men always thinking of themselves first, and how to perpetuate evil like former senators getting ministerial positions without screening. U see while I like Jona, he doesn't sign any how. If not our economy would have been worse, with the old plan of France, no wonder their nationals are part of Bokoharam. That man may be selfish and may have abused power as many who were there, but he doesn't perpetuate it. Immegine these men desiring him to sign that they can pass a bill into law without the consent of the President. That house is the seat of corruption. But wait, with all these section this, paragraph that, what will people like T A. do if they get there. U see why I want APGA to get back mandate from him. Let them follow it to later |
dnawah:Its not about who wins, but about what is proper. After all some members of the Church are in PDP, some in APGA, while some are in APC within the same locality. But you can't just subvert the will of the people because you are more privileged. The Church is saying; "LET JUSTICE PREVAIL". |
Flye:When it is said that the Catholic Church does not get involve in politics, it does not mean that catholic priests does not vote, nor discuss politics. It means that the Church is not partisan - it does not practice party politics. That means, fundamentally a priest should not support a particular party, and use his office as a priest, especially the pulpit to promote the course of one party and suppress the other. Instead she teaches her people the principles of good governance and allows them to make informed decisions, knowing that their decisions have consequences. Non- partisan is also not the same as condoning evil and injustice. The Church stands for justice and cries out or should cry out when justice is being truncated, especially in the face of structural injustice. This is exactly what the bishop did. Should the Church the partisan, what happens when a direct (blood) brother of a priest is contesting for a position, and the main opponent is one of the priest's prominent parishioners? What of when the two are from the same parish? Mbaka's case is slitly different, his was purely under a prophetic unction, which the church recognises, though its a bit above the line. But you should not stop it since the Spirit blows wherever it wills. But the Bishop's stand is not in opposition, instead its directly in line with what the church stands for; preach justice and stand against injustice, even if many hate you. |
dnawah:The church is nonpartisan. The stand is; justice should prevail, and the will of the people not subverted. |
INEC should read this and note that Abians are not happy with the sham that happened here under their watch. Abians should read and prepare for Saturday. Nigerians should read and know that we are not all corrupt and should help us liberate Abia. |
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CATHOLIC DIOCESE OF UMUAHIA 21/04/2015 PREAMBLE: The Presidential and gubernatorial elections of Nigeria have come and gone. We wish to congratulate Nigerians for coming out en mass to exercise their franchise in the recently concluded elections. However, we wish to state as follows: 1. The INEC as an independent umpire, should be and also be seen as independent and transparent. The action of officials should induce confidence and not resentment. The situation where INEC officials connive with party agents to subvert the electoral process as was observed in Abia State during the gubernatorial elections is condemnable. 2. We wish also to condemn in strong terms, the wide-spread irregularities such as violence, snatching of ballot boxes, election materials, result sheets, monetary inducement of officials and intimidation that characterized that election in many polling units in Abia State. 3. The security agents have the constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens, and ensure that voters are protected from violence as they exercise their civic responsibility. We condemn strongly the situation as was observed where security agents collude with party agents to harass, intimidate, and even orchestrate violence against the people and especially the opposition. 4. The vote count should reflect the will of the people. We strongly condemn the situation where the people after filing for hours under the sun for accreditation and voting only to observe that their votes did not count as was the case in many polling units in Abia State. People watched as the votes were counted in polling centres but with embarrassing results announced later. This undoubtedly leads to despair, hopelessness, apathy and helplessness. CONCLUSION In spite of all these we appeal to our people to be calm, steadfast and law abiding and to participate in the upcoming rerun election on 25th April, 2015. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji Bishop of Umuahia |
As much as I try to resist the temptationto write, I feel like asking a very simple andstraight question as an Igbo man that lives in core Igbo land. Please massob, who are you representing, and who sent you? What for? |
sweettease:What do yyou mean by naughty? |
It is clearly not superstition. Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence. The Church puts it as a discipline, mortification or fasting to the Lord to help many, if not every member of the Church to mortify the flesh and so be conscious of, and draw closer to God. Its a way of carrying everyone along in the spiritual journey, as some people, in such a vast congregation may not even fast at all, unless in difficulty. At least with this, they may say "well, this one is simply, and everyone is doing it. God I am here o, I follow". With that and other programs, he is gradually lead to appreciate the more the Divine, interest built, he is lead to commit himself newly, or more. Different Churches declare fasting, and prayers, indoors and crusades and even quier programs, no one will talk, but if its Catholic and main stream Churches, people will start talking and even abusing. Its about time our people learn that nagging and being repulsive at people over what you do not understand is already itself a sin. There will be surprises on the last day. Many noise makers and 'condemers' will be missing. Sure |
madamoringo:I want to quetly disagree with you. PDP lost in the SE because the people see them as crooks. The only reasonable option was Buhari. Many may not have trusted Buhari but they believe he is better than GEJ. The information we have is that T. A. Orji lost even in his own booth, people voted an APGA person they did not even know just to free from T. A and PDP., though he bought his way through. Leave NL & discourse with Abians if you doubt this. In Anambra, the election was also rigged in favour of PDP, and people had been crying wolf. The problem PDP had with total rigging was that the number that voted opposition was too much for them to totally take over everything. Ngige was voted out mainly because his popularity is going down since his stand with the so called deportation of Igbos from Lagos. Counter to his dwindling popularity, other people s popularity is on the rise. We, the Igbo will like to have the Senate President, but its better we have a more refined house. The outgoing house is full of charlatans and crooks. Nigeria deserves better. That is why we don't want such people like TA Orji and cohorts. So though the party, position and region may have roles to play, but its more about the personalities. That is my stand and that I know, is the stand of most of our people. |
Charliewyt:This is a very nice statement, one of the best on NL. GEJ didnt do well. But GMB is not an option. I pray our people see this. APC should have brought a better option. So far Mr president remains better. Thank you, bro. |
ceejayluv:Christianity seems to be the religion that suffers silently from attack all over the world, because of our brlieve in peace. In movies we have seen churches burnt, used for drugs, men of God ridiculed and even presented as direct agents of Satan. Try this to Islam, "the so called religion of Peace" and see blood. Pope Benedict made a statement and churches were burnt. Yea, abuses exists, as in other religions, but what is happening is unacceptable. At the heat of these attacks is the Catholic, we believe in peace and freedom, and these are the consequences. Let us hold on because Christ preached and lived peace. If not for our convinction and firm believe in the words of Christ.... Our suffering is a proof to them of our faith. Lets look to Christ. |
GreenApple123:This is a very horrible advice to give. If Op is your sister will you give her this advice? @ Op, you have d final decision. But its an abuse of your privacy. If your fiance wants to marry you, presenting this as an objection by anyone will not stop him. In fact if am your fiance, and I hear dt you did such, I may reconsider our relationship. Do you want to marry me or my mother? My take though. Decision is yours. Tnx |
stronger:I want to commend the GEJ administration for this move. Its a move of someone with desire. He wants to ensure its implemented. Without this, the opposition may not even look at it, if given a chance. GMB dismissed the confab as a waste of money and resources. Definitely, if he eventually (in case) enters Aso Rock, be sure the report will not see the light of the day & those serious national issues addressed therein will continue to bedevil us. |
gebest:This is one of the most stupid statements I've ever read on NL |
It's surprising dt ds is coming now. Plz let me ask, who do they want to give the weapons? Is it Chad, Niger or .... The very weapons they refused to sell, they now want to give freely. They said d NA are cowards & dt they do not trust d NA. So why come back now. Is it because of d recent good news thanks to arms bought from Russia? If they offer help, who will be d recipients since they don't trust d NA or have they come to claim d glory after watching our soldiers die due to poor arms & doing nothing. Does d US government just want to have excusses to give their masses when questioned? |
My people, you see why I decided for Jonathan. Only few, true and enduring gentle men can swallow what he has and remained calm. Instead of attacking back, he uses them as spring boards to improve. We may need change, but not what APC is offering or we maybe in for worse days. I want change but the best change based on the available options is a better Jonathan. -my take. |

gists:So you easily believe this? This sounds more like a move to create an alibi of escape by a fearful, guilty person. If not, why create such a news now? Why quoting such unverifiable source? Why not allow them to accuse and then challenge them to prove it since you have noting to hide? Could he have been caught and they still have room for acting drama without fear, knowing the volatile nature of this, that even the involvrd soldiers may talk. Did GEJ & his officers catch him themselves? Forget not that we have many soldiers up there, civilian JTF. The report more of points accusing finger on those they are defending. |
I am baffled at the state of preparation and the entire planning of the elections by INEC. I must say that they have so far operated below expectation. It is disheartening especially when you consider the fact that it is headed by a professor. My questions are; 1. What would have been the fate of this nation if the elections had been held on 14th Feb? 2. Why have PVC's not reached some distribution centers causing psychological and economic stress of having to go back again and again by the owners? 3. What have they been doing for years now that they couldn't create an efficient Internet national base so that people can vote from where ever they reside now, and not vote twice. Am being disenfranchised simply because I relocated. 4. Why is it that application for transfer of PVCs by those that relocated are no longer being processed (this was stopped long ago in Abia) 5.Why is it that those who registered more than once got the cards? Are computers not meant to dictate multiple registrations? If not? What is the essence of fingerprinting and the entire process? 6. What assurance are they giving that the card reader if used will also not be a hoarx, since they couldnt improve much on what they did last four years? I dont want to do what I see most an NL where pple blame the FG for everything. Someone is incharge here, and I think he should account. Dont tell me GEJ is doing this to me since I want to vote him (for my reasons). Whats your own view? |
My problem is that INEC is disenfranchising me already. I registered in another state. Have since moved to another (Abia) & they say I can't vote from here. Please someone should tell them to form a national database so that I can vote. I think APC have so far not convinced me. Its GEJ with his limitations, all the way, praying that he improves, as he has promised.I want his programs to be finished before someone cancels them. For me, he seems better. We need change, but not anyhow/one. My take |
