pls house, I am stock 3000 juvenile for 3 months(smoke size), pls how many bags will they consumed for the 3months? your help is highly needed. Thanks
I will give a guide, so, you can compute it on your own if you wish to tweak the other factors/ variables.

Let's assume you target 400grams (0.4kg) weight per fish.

Total weight at harvest = 0.4 * 3000 = 1200 KG
Assuming ideal FCR of 1:1, to calculate how many bags of 15kg feed will be needed; 1200/15 = 80

That means you will need about 80 bags of 15KG feed to feed your 3000 juveniles.

Thanks for the observation about the new thread. This is it

I just came across this thread now.
I guess you must have harvested at least 3 times since you completed your concrete ponds.

Kindly inform the house how your rearing went and things you are doing differently from when you started.

Cheers

So, it cannot be used after stocking? Is there any GNLD product that can be mixed with the fish feed?

you must be a very shrewd abii naa prudent person, ijebu fingerlings?D advice i will give is introduce aquapro to them also, they will willing feed on it.Maintain your water mgt. They have enough space because your space dimension could even be use to raise 1,200 to table size. Endeavor to clean your tanks from the slimmy build up that could cause death/disease
Thanks for your reply.
Meanwhile, you said; I should introduce auqapro to them, they will willing feed on it. Do you mean I should give them (sprinkle) Aquapro in the pond for them to feed on? Or I should mix it with their feed/water?

I look forward to your response.

those that have reliable broodstocks should post please. Those interested will contact you. I am receiving calls & i know it will save me some man hours if i post it here.
Hi Bros,

Please, I bought some ijebu fingerlings (4cm length) and I have a little issue because I'm using 0.5-0.8mm coppens which most of it sinks.
I have calculated the feed consumption using 6% of body weight. But the fishes finish 0.3kg feed which is what the formula suggest they should eat in a day in 2 meals. And they rush for feed whenever i come to feed them. So, I feed them 3-4 times every day.

Please, from your experience, what will you advice?

I use a concrete pond (20x10x3). Stocked 10,000 of the fishes (0.5 gram average weight) and do 90% water change for them every 2 days.

Regards

Nice to hear this atleat things are improving. I wish you all the best. Pls, keep to your promises and always listen to the complain of your customers and be tolerant. Good luck!
Well said Komakan!

We should make conscious efforts not to over promise especially at start up because that automatically means delivering less.
When your customers lose money because of your incompetence/ lack of planning/ your not keeping to your promises, there wont be repeat business.

It is always better to start out small and grow organically than to claim big (overestimating your capacity) and struggle to keep up.

Good luck Belusconi!

I used magnet feed at the third month, my cost reduced drastically. I just started with a new set and the rate at which the fishes are growing is like a miracle grin.
What kind of pond do you use? Earthen or Concrete?
If concrete, how do you manage water pollution?

You can get them at Eliozu by Rukpokwu Roundabout. If you are going from Air Force, it's after OPM,just before the Rukpokwu roundabout.

You are right, I have worked with nuvembarz farm for about a year plus on agricnetwork, his prompt and selfless service speaks volume. His willingness and ability to render assistance to people and his managerial style is next to none.. He has my full support.
These are very key qualities that you have highlighted here, Mr Robonski.
I hope he, Nuvembarz farm, is willing to accept the huge responsibility because unlike our regular politicians/public office holders in Naija, he'll be needed to serve other farmers/farms need even to his own detriment sometimes.

These are exciting times!!! I trust 2016 will open a lot of new chapters in our lives and endeavors.

May the Almighty continue to guide and strengthen us all.

what a great ideal sir. Let the train keep moving. I'm on it!
This sounds like a very good idea. But I am wondering how fish farmers who are "upcountry" will be properly integrated in this plan. Can we benefit from the fingerlings/juvenile/feed sales with little/minimal additional logistical cost.

Oga i still see no reason why you dey carry this matter for head. If the union abi association is to have their own feedmill and sell at a cheaper rate then there is no problem. I bought juvenile from robosnki for #12 and they are growing fast than normal and here in abuja i normally buy juveniles for #30 or #35 . how much gain i don pocket already no be serious assistance be that. Mind you i am a member of groffan.
Hello Sir,

Please, how many juveniles did you buy from Robonski and how was it sent to you in Abuja? What was the transportation cost?
Was the mortality due to stress from transportation high?

I just want to have an idea as we intend to buy 5000 juveniles from Robonski and have them sent to Owerri, Imo State.

Thanks for your anticipated swift response.

Many thanks

Noted sir...
Hi Guys, I've been following this great thread since August. Stocked our first batch of juveniles towards the end of September 2015. The fishes will be 3 months this week and we have ponds with average weight of 600g, 700g and 800g. It has been an awesome experience. Have contacted Robonski on whatsapp a few times and he was of immense help.

Please, you guys should keep the fire burning.

Meanwhile, we will appreciate CONTACTS OF CATFISH BUYERS IN OWERRI AXIS for about 3tons of the above stated weight.

God bless us!
