How can I believe in something when i don't know what it is, or whether or not it exists? Belief isn't a switch you just turn on and off.

God is spirit. So, you have to believe wholeheartedly that he exists before he reveals himself to you.

* Active change from following the Old Way to following the New Way is a step requiring obedience to the teachings(and commandments of Jesus) - Matthew 3 vs 7 -11 & John 3 vs 1 - 21
* Water Baptism - become born of water
* Eat the body and drink the blood of Jesus Christ in order to seal self in God's New Covenant, Jesus Christ, by which one then obtains eternal life - John 6 vs 35 - 48
* Abandon family, friends, titles, reputation, job/career/businesses, e, land, etc., in order to follow Jesus Christ - [b]Matthew 10 vs 34 - 39[/b

According to Jesus Christ , that process takes you living your life in continuous submission and obedience of His teachings(and commandments) aka attaining holiness so you first need to become a holy/acceptable vessel worthy of God's own holy spirit to dwell in - John 8 vs 31 - 35, John 14 vs 15 - 25 & John 15 vs 7 - 14. . There are approximately 100 commandments contained in God's Gospel, Jesus Christ, and to know the Truth means to put them into obedience. This does not happen once but over time....

the hundred commandments has shortened or summarised into two, love your neighbor as yourself and love God with all your heart.

Once you believe your heart that Jesus is the son of God and that he died for your sins and resurrected for your justification, the next thing will be to confess him (Jesus) as the Lord of your life.
