Ahmed Ahmed is the new president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Ahmed, who is from Madagascar beat Cameroonian Issa Hayatou by 34 to 20 votes in the election which held on Thursday at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Before his defeat, Hayatou led CAF for 29 years following his election in 1988.

The surprise result, which was announced Caf’s 39th General Assembly in Addis Ababa, prompted shock and celebration across social media, with many fans, pundits and observers celebrating the departure of the 70-year-old, who has been accused of various controversies during his long stint at the helm.

Magumeri, the main town and Local Government Area after Maiduguri and before Gubio and Damasak is currently under attack. Information on the attack so far reveals that the town has been torched in its entirety by the marauding terrorists. Some residents of the town have found their way to Maiduguri the state capital after escaping from the attackers.

Few weeks ago, Nganzai along Maiduguri-Baga road was also attacked leading to the death of own troops and the carting away of food items provided by UN agencies and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operating in the area. The terrorists were reported by eyewitnesses to have cautioned civilians to be calm and go about their activities in the area.

The proximity of these attacks along Maiduguri/Damboa road, Maiduguri/Gamboru/Ngala road, Maiduguri/Gubio road, Maiduguri/Baga road and sundry places puts the centrally located city under a siege of sorts.

Nigerians resident in the northeast will never cease to wonder what it takes to truly end terrorism in the embattled region.

This is really funny. Photos of what happened between a dancing lady and a dwarf who got more than he bargained for at a party -are currently trending on Facebook. The lady was seen twerking/dancing at the party while a musician performed and rocked her. But as soon as the singer left her, the fun-seeking guy immediately stepped in to replace the singer as he held the dancing lady's waist tightly....

After noticing what happened, the lady who was having none of that pushed him away using her butt as he landed on the floor...see pictures below;

There was chaos during the final of the Under-20 African Cup of Nations AFCON after a Senegalese player was caught on camera planting what appeared to be a charm behind his opponent's goal post. Senegal played against Zambia on Sunday 12th March (yesterday) in which Zambia won 2-0.

The incident caused quite a protest from angry Zambian players who called the attention of the referee. The Senegalese player Ndiaye who threw the 'black fetish item' into the Zambian net received a yellow card for his action....

The incident comes after another Senegalese player was in their previous match against Guinea caught on Camera giving what was believed to be a charm to a fellow player although no actions were taken by the referee even when the Guinea players complained about the act. Guinea lost 1-0.

This armed robber was caught in the act while carrying out a frantic robbery attack with his colleagues in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state capital this morning. Speaking at the scene of crime, the residents of Ekeki said, the said group of robbers has been a nightmare to them.

The young man was apprehended after he was shot by policemen during the robbery operation...

The police is still in charge of the rest of members of the gang as at the time of filing this report...

Here are pictures of residents fleeing their homes at Dogo, Mkovur area of Buruku in Benue state after a recent attack by suspected herdsmen happened on Saturday. The attack reportedly left at least 7 persons dead. It was gathered that the crisis, which erupted last Friday has forced many in Buruku and neighbouring Gboko local government area to flee their homes for fear of being killed.

Governor Umar Bindow of Adamawa state today paid a visit to the former governor of Taraba; Danfulani Baba Suntai who is currently ill following a plane crash he was involved in while in office...

Suntai's current travails started precisely on October 25, 2012, when a private plane he piloted crashed in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. After receiving the initial treatment at the Adamawa Standard German Hospital in Yola he was later transferred to the National Hospital Abuja on October 26, 2012.

He has been receiving treatments since both here in Nigeria and abroad.

Security operatives and members of Civilian JTF volunteer group have intercepted a pregnant suicide bomber and another woman in Borno State.The two female suicide bombers, were killed when they refused to surrender and attempted to attack a security post at Ummarari village along Mulai axis of Maiduguri-Damboa road at the outskirts of Maiduguri.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed a logistics base concealed by fleeing Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in Sambisa. Two fleeing terrorists were tracked by NAF Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to the concealed location where they had gone to retrieve some items before fighter aircraft were called-in for strike.

The coordinated attack was carried out by a formation of two Alpha Jet and an F-7Ni fighter aircraft while the ISR aircraft remained overhead the target location to guide the attacking aircraft as well as provide battle damage assessment.

The huge inferno generated by the attack suggests that the target location was either a fuel or ammunition dump as can be seen from the declassified footage of the air strike.

The latest air strike is another major feat in the renewed air effort by the NAF to neutralise the fleeing terrorists as well as decimate their capability to regroup for attack on own surface forces and people within the nearby communities.
