Religion / Dooms Day!! Excellent Men Vs. The Youths Of Showers Of Blessings (score Line) by InoutNaija(f): 6:01pm On Nov 03, 2018
The fight between David and Goliath must have repeated itself today after the Excellent Men of Showers Of Blessing were gruesomely defeated by the ever shining youths of Showers Of Blessing Zone, Oyo province 14.

The match which lasted an hour, with 30 minutes 1st half and 30 minutes 2nd half, was worth watching.

It all started as a joke when the Youths scored their first goal within few minutes into the 1st half. Then the goals began to swoop in like a river, 2:0, 3:0, 4:0, 5:0, 6:0.................................11:0.

Out of pity, the referee of the match decided to award the Excellent men a penalty for an offense done outside the box 18. The mighty men were able to score the goal at the mercy of the goal keeper. At this point, the goal line was draw to an 11:1, with the Youths still leading.

Finally, the Excellent men tend to gain their strength and hoped to level with their opponent on the score board. As luck would have it, the Excellent men were able to serve the Youths with another 'wuruwuru to the answer' goal, making the score board 11 - 2.

Despite the fact that the Excellent men brought all their supporters club to the pitch, the able Youths of the Zone still triumphed in an EXCELLENT way.

---------------------

After the football match, the youths and excellent men teamed up to make a repair on the road leading to the Church. The act which was seen as a community service, was well appreciated by most motorists and pedestrians.

Education / UNILORIN Increases Tuition Fee By More Than 100%’ by InoutNaija(f): 5:11pm On Nov 03, 2018
The University of Ilorin has increased its tuition fee by over 100 per cent, students and a university official confirmed, Naija News Understands

The students union president, Seyi Animasaun, first confirmed this increment in one interview said:

“What we have woken up to is rather unexpected, shocking and challenging. This cannot stand. I have called emergency meeting with all SU executives and all Faculty presidents and we shall release a comprehensive report after,” he said. When he was asked of the amount added to the tuition, he said it “varies across different faculties”.

It was also gathered that the tuition for the department of Mass Communication for instance was increased from N10,700 to N23,300.

Inoutnaija understands that the increment will take effect from 2018/2019 academic session.

Confirming an increment, the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, also said that the increment is ‘marginal’. He was however contradictory in his response.

“It is not an increment. Do you have the fees of other Federal Universities? Even with the increment, we are far ‘better’ than other universities.

“The increment is just marginal with the current economy reality and we are still below other universities,” he said.

Meanwhile, students have stormed the social media to demand a reversal.

Politics / I Made Political Appointments Fairly - President Buhari by InoutNaija(f): 4:02pm On Nov 03, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has a stand that his administration has ensured even distribution of political appointments to reflect diverse interests across the country, regardless of the voting patterns of the 2015 presidential elections.

He made the assertion while receiving a delegation of Bassa Traditional Rulers and Elites led by His Royal Highness, Alhaji Bako Ebiredelu Dogwo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.

The President affirmed that the Nigerian constitution clearly maps out the need for representation in every government, and he had adhered strictly to the tenets of the law.

He noted that Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology, Labour and Employment, and Industry, Trade and Investment emerged from states that he did not record many votes in 2015, but they were given strong portfolios in the cabinet based on their competence.

A statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) quoted him as saying: “As humanly possible, I have tried to be fair to all. And I am very pleased that in spite of the complaints of technical marginalisation, you have agreed to vote for me in 2019.”

The President assured the delegation that he would look into the issue of poor representation of the Bassa people in government.

“Thank you for all the nice things you have said about me and the administration. I have taken note that you don’t have leadership in any of the parastatals,’’ he added.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation said Bassa people had consistently voted for the President over the years, and “will do it again in 2019.”

“You are a great asset to Nigeria. The Bassa nation will use all the resources available to us to ensure you are re-elected in 2019,’’ he said.

The royal father said the President’s effort at securing the country was commendable, urging him to also sustain the anti-corruption war.

“We are happy with your administration, which is all inclusive without discrimination. Keep promoting equality,” he added.

He, however, called on the President to reciprocate the love and affection of the Bassa people, who are spread across Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, Niger States and FCT, by ensuring that they get fair representation in government.

Sports / Ronaldo’s Rape Accuser In Public For The First Time, Since Allegation (photo) by InoutNaija(f): 3:29pm On Nov 03, 2018
Cristiano Ronaldo’s rape accuser has been seen for the first time since going public with her claims of sexual assault against the football star.

Kathryn Mayorga was spotted near her family’s home on the outskirts of Sin City, Las Vegas, sporting dark shades, a floppy hat, a dark top, black jeans and high-heeled boots.

The 34-year-old was pictured with an unknown man and the pair walked with their arms around each other. This comes as her lawyer has warned the footballer that he faces a legal ‘dogfight’ over the allegations.

The former school teacher alleges that she was raped by the Juventus player at his Las Vegas hotel room in June 2009. After Miss Mayorga filed her civil lawsuit in September this year, Las Vegas police confirmed they had reopened their criminal investigation into the alleged sex assault.

The Juventus forward says the sex was consensual and denies any wrongdoing. Ronaldo has been warned he faces a legal ‘dogfight’ over the rape claims, which could last the rest of his playing career.

The 33-year-old , stands accused of sexually assaulting Miss Mayorga, who has now quit her job as a teacher. Her lawyers have vowed to take the case all the way to the Supreme Court if they need to.

Politics / Obasanjo Is The Most Visible Member Of The Nigerian Mafia – Dele Momodu by InoutNaija(f): 3:17pm On Nov 03, 2018
Today, Dele Momodu in his weekly column “Pendulum” titled ‘The Battle of the Nigerian Generals’ described General Olusegun Obasanjo as the most ‘visible and voluble member of the Nigerian Mafia’.

According to him, ‘the President’s supporters believe the Generals have outlived their relevance. Theoretically, this sounds easy but the old foxes must never be underrated’.

READ BELOW:

Fellow Nigerians, I once wrote an article about the Nigerian Mafia on this very page. Yes, Nigeria is a Mafia nation and there are a few Mafia families in play. Some are peopled by civilians, whilst some are a group of military men comprising retired soldiers. There is also a mixture of civilians and soldiers like the Kaduna Mafia comprising Northern elites from both the civilian populace and the military. Apart from the Generals’ Mafia which includes General Olusegun Obasanjo, all of these Mafia families usually consist of men of Northern extraction.

There were only two visible Mafia families in the South, namely the Awolowo and Zikist Mafia. However, the latter’s influence diminished long before the Owelle Of Onitsha, Chief Nnamdi Azikwe, who was the arrowhead, passed away, whilst the former has had its glory days dulled by the fractious disagreements which broke out between the acolytes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, The Odole of Ife, after he exchanged mortality for immortality. This got exacerbated and became open internecine warfare after the revered sage’s wife, the Yeyeoba of Ile-Ife, Chief Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, who had kept the shop together with adroit wiles and guile, died just over 3 years ago.

However, the Tinubu Mafia has grown in competition with the Awolowo Mafia in recent times, but even the influence of their effervescent overlord, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Asiwaju of Lagos, may be facing challenges at the moment from rebels within and outside. These coming elections may well be a true test of how efficacious the influence and control of this great and astute politician remains.

It is interesting that while the influence of the Italian Mafia seems to have waned over the years, that of the Nigerian Mafia, particularly the Generals’ Mafia appears to have skyrocketed in recent years. There are warlords now spread across our country. And the godfathers and their godchildren litter the landscape of Nigeria. Since the return to civilian rule in 1999, Nigeria has remained under the firm grip of the military class, no matter what the civilians may say or think. It is therefore the Generals’ Mafia that remains in the ascendancy for now.

Former Army General Olusegun Obasanjo, incidentally, the Balogun of Owu – a traditional warrior chief – came back from retirement as a former military Head of State and governed majestically for eight wonderful years. When he left, Umaru, the brother of a former Army General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua replaced him, largely on the basis of his relationship to the deceased brother, who was a firm favourite of General Obasanjo, who singlehandedly handpicked him and foisted him on a pliant nation despite his well-documented health challenges. He died in office and his Vice President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan also head-hunted by Obasanjo, took over to complete their first term.

Thereafter, Jonathan was endorsed by Obasanjo, leading the Generals’ Mafia for his own first term. Unfortunately, things fell apart, when the falcon no longer hearkened to the falconer, and mere anarchy reigned upon the land. Meanwhile, all this while, Major General Muhammadu Buhari never stopped contesting serially, from 2003 to 2011 by which time he was expected to give up on his dream and ambition. He never did.

Buhari returned to contest for the Presidency a record fourth time in 2015 and won resoundingly with the support of the almighty Generals’ Mafia. But since then, he has not been able to hold the centre together and he has fallen out of grace, and out of favour from the super Generals. Some may want to argue otherwise but the proof is easy. He could not win on previous occasions until the powers that be joined him.

Who are these super Generals, the last men standing, you may want to ask? Let me oblige you, even if you know some or, indeed, all of them already. A few of them are quite visible while others are not, either deliberately or otherwise. The Nigerian Mafia in their totality are predominantly under the control of a few Generals who are members of a very select, privileged and exclusive club of high achievers in the Nigerian military and the Nigerian state. Let me start with the first and the reason he is probably the most powerful and influential.

General Olusegun Obasanjo remains the most visible and voluble member of the Nigerian Mafia. His official date of birth reads May 5, 1937, but many feel he is older, considering the age of some of his friends and schoolmates. He schooled in Nigeria and continued his military education in England and India. Fearless and brutal, he became famous and was idolised for his fairy-tale exploits during the Nigerian civil war. Though different accounts have claimed that his role was exaggerated and overhyped, even his worst critics admit and agree that he is an extremely intelligent and brave soldier with a no-nonsense attitude who seldom takes prisoners.

He shot into prominence when his boss, General Murtala Muhammed was killed in a military coup in 1976 and as second in command, he was catapulted to the number one position of Head of State against his will. He and his team of the Supreme Military Council performed great feats until they handed over power to a civilian government headed by President Shehu Shagari. The fact that he stuck to his terminal date despite the fact that he had reasons to elongate his tenure endeared him to the international community. He acquired avuncular status on the continent of Africa and was much sought after globally. His detribalised nature also helped to place him on a higher pedestal in Nigeria.

The man he and Murtala Muhammed sacked from power, General Yakubu Gowon was in exile in England for a long period of time and when he returned his amiable, gentle and religious disposition meant that he was no longer really relevant in the polity and this placed Obasanjo in a prime position to assume the leadership of the Nigerian Generals’ Mafia. Gowon is only sometimes wheeled out when it is time to plead for patience and peace in the land, but the truth is that he is often just left alone to enjoy his retirement!

Obasanjo’s stock rose even higher, and that is indeed the frightening reality of the stock of this colossal statesman, when he returned to power for 8 years in the latest civilian dispensation. His bid to perpetuate himself in power through an abortive third term agenda crashed spectacularly. However his power and headship of the Generals’ Mafia remains solid and incontrovertible.

Lt. General Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi (CFR GCON) remains a veritable member of the Nigerian Mafia. Born in 1940, he rose to prominence and the peak of his military career when he became Chief of Army Staff (COAS) from 1981 to 1983, in the Nigerian Second Republic, under the Shagari government. Wushishi joined the Army in 1961 and received his military training in Kaduna, Nigeria and later at Aldershot in the United Kingdom and finally at the United States War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

He had a meritorious service till he rose to the rank of a Lt. General. He was well respected as a very disciplined officer. Now, guess who took over from him as COAS? General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), popularly described as the “evil genius”, and “Maradona” for his deft political and Machiavellian moves when he was President.

Babangida was born in 1941. After enlisting in the military, he had his military training in Nigeria, India and the United Kingdom. A very brilliant and sociable man, he rose quickly and became a Major General within 20 years, from a Second Lieutenant in 1963 to a Major General in 1983 and a full General in 1987. Babangida participated in all the successful military coups from July 1966 and actually toppled Buhari unexpectedly in 1985. The story of how he successfully achieved a feat nobody thought possible at the time is the stuff of legends and myths and is a story to be told another time! Babangida was the opposite of Buhari.

He made many friends but was accused by his critics of introducing favouritism and corruption to our body polity. However, his network of friends is second to none and this has contributed to the vantage position he continues to maintain in the Nigerian Generals Mafia. But for the grave error of annulling the best, freest and fairest election ever held in Nigeria, history might have been extremely kind and gracious to him because he assembled one of the brightest men and women to join him in government. As it is, he is forever remembered by this singular misadventure.

Lt. General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma was born in December 1938. Notably, and unlike his senior colleagues in the Generals’ Mafia, he completed and passed his Higher School certificate examinations and was admitted to study History at what is now the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1959. A keen sportsman in his secondary school days and captain of the School Cricket team, Danjuma opted out of University education to join the Nigerian Army in 1960.

The rest, as they say is history, for this quintessential gentleman soldier, who rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General and Chief of Army Staff before retiring in 1979. Since his retirement from the Nigerian Army, Danjuma has been an esteemed and respected member of the Generals’ Mafia. He is a consummate politician who was Minister of Defence during Obasanjo’s first term as civilian President, astute billionaire businessman with interests in shipping, oil and gas and telecommunications where he sits as Chairman atop a myriad of companies, and above all a major gracious and significantly benevolent philanthropist, unlike his peers.

It is claimed that his lack of support for President Buhari’s re-election bid stems from the refusal to renew his oil mining licence and a hefty tax bill which his gigantic oil company, South Atlantic Petroleum Limited (SAPETRO), naturally disputes. A man of very few words in public, the spate of senseless killings of his people recently forced him to issue harsh words which instantly brought him on collision path with the Buhari Government.

General Abdulsalami Abubakar was born in 1942. Like Babangida, he hails from Minna in Niger State. He completed his secondary education and went on to study at Kaduna Technical College from where he enlisted into the Nigerian Air force in October 1963. He undertook military training in the then Western Germany, but on his return to Nigeria in 1966, he was seconded to the Nigerian Army. He rose to the rank of General in the Nigerian Army and was Chief of Defence Staff for over five years during the regime of General Sani Abacha. He was entrusted with the mantle of leadership of the military junta upon the death of Abacha in June 1998 and became the country’s Head of State.

Like Obasanjo, he set up a time-table for an early return to civilian rule and remarkably kept his word by organising elections and surrendering power in less than one year. He handed over to his leader and senior Don in the Generals’ Mafia, Olusegun Obasanjo, thereby continuing the trend of the Generals’ Mafia dictating the political leadership succession in the country. He is an international statesman who is acclaimed for returning the country to democratic rule in the shortest period of time. His reputation is however blighted by the death in his detention of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, the man who won the June 12 Presidential election, an election victory that has now been validated by President Buhari.

Lt. General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau completes the list of senior members of the Generals’ Mafia. This quiet, unassuming and self-effacing gentleman soldier was born in 1943. He has on diverse occasions been Director of Military Intelligence, Director of Defence Intelligence Agency, Director-General of NSO and Coordinator on National Security. He was National Security Adviser under Babangida, Obasanjo and Jonathan in that order becoming the only man to have held this position under three different Heads of State.

He was briefly Chief of Army Staff, under the Interim National Government led by Chief Ernest Shonekan, thus following in the illustrious footsteps of some of his fellow dons in the Generals’ Mafia. He was also Minister of Defence in the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan. He is nicknamed the ‘Spook’ because of his secretive nature and his long stint in the intelligence service. He is reputed to have a dossier on all the major actors in the Nigerian military and political scene and is much respected and feared. He deliberately avoids public occasions and avoids controversy.

It is fabled that the troika of Babangida, Abacha and Gusau had a pact that all three would become Heads of State and whilst Babangida and Abacha succeeded, Gusau failed in his ambition despite spirited attempts. Indeed, it was Abacha who retired Gusau from the Army when he took over the reins of power from Shonekan in 1993. Nonetheless, Gusau remains a veritable and trusted member of the Generals’ Mafia.

By virtue of his previous positions, President Buhari is also a member of the hallowed club of dons in the Generals’ Mafia. However, until 2015 when he contested elections for the Presidency yet again, he appeared to be an outcast in the Club who was merely tolerated. However, the gang opted to back him in 2015, but for whatever reasons, personal, altruistic or national they appear to have withdrawn that support. It remains to be seen whether lightning will strike twice on the same spot and the Generals’ Mafia which outflanked and outfoxed Buhari in 1985 will succeed in truncating his regime once more. Or will it be the case that Buhari has the element of power and surprise and will to outmanoeuvre his fellow Dons this last time.

The elections of 2019 may likely herald and signal the sound of the ‘The Last Post” for this super elite club of Generals. The Presidential election is expected to be remote-controlled by these men and their civilian allies, meaning Buhari has a tough battle in his hands. It is not clear how many of these Generals he has on his side but he seems to have lost most of them which is likely to make the election tougher than necessary. Obasanjo and Babangida have not hidden their disdain. They have spoken publicly against the re-election of Buhari who may be taciturn but is also known to be a deadly fighter.

According to insiders in APC, Buhari no longer needs them because he totally controls the apparatus of power and coercion. The palpable fear is for the Generals not to plunge Nigeria into an orgy of violence and for Buhari to execute a free and peaceful election. Many pundits believe Buhari may not hand over power with the kind of equanimity Jonathan displayed. Worrisome.

The President’s supporters believe the Generals have outlived their relevance. Theoretically, this sounds easy but the old foxes must never be underrated. There are interesting days ahead… God save Nigeria.

Sports / How Leicester City Owner’s Helicopter Lost Control And Crashed (CCTV Footage) by InoutNaija(f): 1:25am On Oct 30, 2018
A video has shown the shocking moment Leicester City owner’s helicopter spiraled out of control and crashed.

Harrowing CCTV has captured the moment Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s helicopter crashed seconds after take-off before crashing and killing all five passengers

Footage shows the billionaire’s helicopter taking off from the King Power Stadium in a seemingly routine manner before it appears to malfunction above a line of trees.

It then spins out of control mid-air before hurtling towards the ground and bursting into flames.

The billionaire perished with his assistant Kaveporn Punpare and Nursara Suknamai, a Thai beauty queen turned PA, when the aircraft spiralled into a ‘dead man’s curve’ when its tail rotor apparently failed.

The helicopter’s hero pilot Eric Swaffer and his girlfriend co-pilot Izabela Lechowicz also died – but potentially saved hundreds of lives by crashing away from the crowds of fans who saw Leicester play West Ham.

Today the Air Accident Investigation Branch [AAIB] confirmed they have found the aircraft’s black box recorder and will be forensically examining the wreckage and crash site before moving it to Farnborough, Hampshire, by Friday.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is carrying out an investigation into what caused the Agusta Westland AW169 helicopter to crash a few hours after the Foxes’ 1-1 result against West Ham.

It is believed to be the first accident involving an AW169 aircraft.
In a statement the AAIB said: ‘We recovered the digital flight data recorder on Sunday afternoon and one of our inspectors travelled back to Farnborough with the recorder the same evening.

‘Today, our inspectors in Farnborough will start working on the recorder, which was subject to intense heat as a result of the post-accident fire.
‘Our inspectors are continuing to work with the police on site. We expect to be here until the end of the week.’

Religion / Painting That Had Jesus On It Reportedly Survives Fire That Destroyed Church by InoutNaija(f): 10:56am On Oct 29, 2018
According to a report by The Boston Globe, a massive fire destroyed the First Baptist Church of Wakefield in Massachusetts Tuesday night and the historic building was described as a total loss. But as workers were clearing the ashy remains of the church the next day, a Jesus painting was reportedly found on the scene of the fire.

Photos from the scene of the fire show a building inspector removing a nearly-pristine painting of Jesus, which once hung just inside the church’s front doors, according to The Boston Globe. Somewhat miraculously, the painting survived the devastating fire.

The image of Jesus emerging from the charred church gave worshipers some solace during the difficult time.

Former parishioner Susan Auld told the Globe that the Jesus painting will be given to a former pastor of the church..

The First Baptist Church of Wakefield, which was nearly 150 years old, according to its website, caught fire around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, CBS Boston reports. A witness says lightning struck the 180-foot steeple before it went up in flames.

“I saw the lightning strike the steeple, and we saw the smoke and it just went up in flames fast,” said Christian Bruno, who lives across from the church.

People were inside the church when the fire started, but no injuries have been reported. Still, churchgoers are devastated by the tragedy.

“Two days ago I just went to the service 10:15 on Sunday and I’m just shocked that this church is burned down,” Robert Jordan told CBS Boston.
But during this dark time, the painting of Jesus persevered and may serve as a comforting memento for worshipers after their loss.

Romance / Story Of A One Legged Skripper And A Fun Seeking Man (pictures) by InoutNaija(f): 10:38am On Oct 29, 2018
A random fun seeking young man has shared his weird experience in a bar with a one-legged skripper which surpassed his expectations.

Read his story below;

“So the homies and I went to a strip club. It was a Tuesday night, good day to go, not a lot of ppl, I don’t have throw a lot of money at the ladies. I had $50, so all I did was through the singles, pick it up and throw it again. The ladies were medium looking, not like the fine ones on weekends. These girls were rated between 4-6. As the night going on, the ladies were doing their usual one leg shake nothing special. There was only like 7 customers in there.

The DJ said we’re about to close this place with a bang. He said coming to the stage, our most interesting dancer, HOPPER!! I thinking oooooh shit! I wonder how she got that name. She must do crazy tricks like hopping on my lap from the ceiling, hopping between poles!! She walks out.. the b*tch has one leg. She was hobbling on the stage to the pole. As she was on the pole, she was upside down and staring right at me. She flicked her finger telling me the get on stage. I wasn’t having that. I politely said no but my friends had the nerve to pick me up and throw me on stage. I was put in a chair and she started hopping towards me.

She was grinding me, all I could do was focus on the missing leg, I never been this close to a one legged person. Now y’all know the gross end of the amputated leg, that closed part that look like a butt hole? Idk what trick she tried to do, maybe tried to switch positions, but as she pulled to half leg over, that end tip hit me on my lips. That was the most disgusting thing I ever felt on my lips, on my head… I kissed a booty hole. Don’t judge me, but.. I RKO’d that b*tch and walked out the club. The humiliation I felt in front of those 7 ppl!! Some of y’all will be pissed at me for doing that but that was disrespectful. You know how niggas feel when they dance on a girl for like 20 mins and find out it was a guy when the lights come on and now they wanna square up and beat him/her up. That’s how I felt. So I’m taking a break from strip clubs for a while. I think I have a new phobia for one legged people! Again don’t judge me”.

Politics / Moment Soldiers Opened Fire On Shiite Muslims In Abuja (photos/video) by InoutNaija(f): 2:00pm On Oct 28, 2018
A video footage has emerged showing the moment soldiers opened fire on Shiite Muslims yesterday in Abuja.

The security operatives opened fire members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria who embarked on a symbolic annual Arbaeen annual trek at Zuba, Abuja.

Over six Shiite members were killed and many others injured in the clash between the sect and soldiers.

It was learnt that the Shiites were having a religious protest which began from the Suleja area of Niger State when they encountered the soldiers around Zuba area.

It was gathered that the some of the Shiite Muslims who started the walk from Suleja, Niger state to Abuja were dispersed by security men who allegedly fired teargas and eventually live bullets at the crowd.

Meanwhile, the army has issued a press statement on the clash with Shiite Muslims.

The army said:

“Troops of Army Headquarters Garrison on official duty escorting ammunition and missiles from Abuja to Army Central Ammunition Depot in Kaduna State were attacked by some members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) sect at Zuba bridge”.

“The sect who were supposedly in a procession, established an illegal road block denying motorists free passage. When the troops’ convoy attempted to clear the road block, they met stiff opposition from the sect”.

“Members of the sect used various objects to barricade the road and also pelted the troops with stones and other dangerous items. They smashed both military and civilian vehicles’ windscreens and windows”.

“They also attempted to overrun the escorts to cart away the ammunition and missiles the troops were escorting. This led to the troops opening fire to extricate themselves. Consequently, troops of 102 Guards Battalion in whose Area of Responsibility the incident occurred rushed to the convoy’s rescue”.

Politics / APC Makes Peace With Amosun, Offers Him 3 Senatorial Slots by InoutNaija(f): 2:39pm On Oct 27, 2018
To end the lingering post-primary elections crisis rocking Ogun State, the All Progressives Congress has taken steps to pacify Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

To this end, the party has given the governor three senatorial slots and the right to bring in one member for the House of Representatives.

Subsequently, the governor’s name and two others have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commisison as the party’s senatorial candidates in the 2019 election.

The name of the former deputy governor of the state, Mr. Segun Adesegun, earlier submitted to INEC had been substituted with that of Senator Lekan Mustapha.

It was further learnt that the party had promised to give the ex-deputy governor a ministerial appointment once the party gets to power in 2019.

The state chapter of the party had been enmeshed in internal crisis following the governorship primary that produced Mr. Dapo Abiodun as the candidate of the party, against the preferred choice of the governor, Adekunle Akinlade, who had been chosen as the party’s consensus candidate before the primary.

But, after the primary, conducted by the electoral committee from the National Working Committee, in which his candidate lost, the governor had protested against the outcome of the election as he lashed out at the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and a former governor of the state, Chief Segun Osoba, for maintaining “deafening silence” on the matter.

The governor had also visited President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo about four times in three weeks over the crisis.

He had also dismissed rumours that he was planning to leave the party, while insisting that he would hand over to Akinlade as against the winner of the primary.

But in a bid to end the crisis, the party gave the governor the senatorial slots and the Rep position.

Already, the names on the provisional list of the National Assembly candidates for Ogun State released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Thursday showed that Amosun got the ticket for the Ogun Central seat, thus displacing the incumbent, Dr. Lanre Tejuoso, who had expressed his intention to go for a second term. And for the two other senatorial seats in Ogun East and Ogun West, the names of Senator Lekan Mustapha and Chief Tolu Odebiyi were on the list respectively.

The name of a former deputy governor in the state, Prince Segun Adesegun, who was equally in the race for the ticket of the Ogun East Senatorial District, was conspicuously missing on the list. He, however, said he had decided to let go and move on.

Meanwhile, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was said to have visited Amosun on Friday morning in his office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta.

Sources told our correspondent that the former President arrived the office some few minutes before 10am.

Politics / LGBT Movement In Nigeria Declare Support For Atiku Abubakar by InoutNaija(f): 12:00am On Oct 27, 2018
The Diverse, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Rights Movement in Nigeria, has declared support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The group said his nomination was a true pointer to the fact that the PDP would uphold human rights. According to the group, Atiku Abubakar has indicated that he is the only one that can ensure that the rights, preferences and the interests of all Nigerians are accommodated.

Spinky Victor Lee, Community President Nigeria, West Africa of LGBT in a statement said its members picked Atiku after critically assessing the antecedents of all those that have so far emerged as candidates from other political parties for the nation’s number one job.

He said they studied their body language and their reactions in the past to matters that pertain to upholding the rights of Nigerians to freely make choices without being criminalized for preferences that have been widely accepted by countries that are making progress.

Lee said:

“LGBT takes note of how a previous administration initiated, passed and signed the Same cex Marriage Prohibition Act that also criminalized homosexual clubs, associations and organisations, with penalties of up to 14 years in jail into law.
“We also note how the present administration has enforced same with a zeal that creates the impression that LGBT is a crime at a time when violent crimes take life across the country every single hour. Our community is daily hounded and exploited by law enforcement agents for no other crime than being who we are. We need a President that understands from experience.

“This repression of LGBT rights has negatively impacted the ability of the community to meaningfully contribute to the economy because the persecution of government as presently oriented towards sexual preferences stifles creativity and productivity on a scale that has held Nigeria back from catching up with other nations.
“It is on this backdrop and given the liberal disposition of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his passion for bringing Nigeria into economic prosperity, we appreciate that he will work for an enabling environment by ending the criminalization of LGBT issues and place the community at a vantage position to run the economy.

“Diverse therefore throws its weight behind the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his party the PDP as we are aware that his liberal stance will not only go along way to promote harmonization of all interest groups but also brings the hope that the inhuman Same cex Marriage Prohibition Act will be repealed within his first 12 weeks in office.

“We urge him to see the hostility to his political aspiration as confirmation that he is the politician to beat in the election and one that the others would gang up against because they know of his capacity to deliver where they had failed. They had always and continue to base their vision of Nigeria on the archaic notion of building physical infrastructure while Alhaji Abubakar has always recognized that what the nation needs to move forward is the development and liberalization of its human capital in line with global trends.

“Our community further commends the PDP for proving to be a true democratic party for all freedom-loving Nigerians to move our great country into the comity of nations that have recognized that people are free to live their lives without the fear of ancient stereotypes that have no scientific basis. We are mobilizing all our support and resources for him already. “Diverse, thus, informs that we will mobilise our members in the coming months to ensure the candidate wins to become President and to abolish the Same cex Marriage Prohibition Act within his first 12 weeks in office.”

Romance / Why Meghan Markle Always Walks Slightly Behind Prince Harry (photos) by InoutNaija(f): 5:53pm On Oct 25, 2018
People have noticed that Meghan Markle is always seen walking slightly behind Prince Harry during public engagements and the reason for that has been revealed.

Whether they’re holding hands or simply walking side-by-side, Harry has consistently been seen taking the lead. Etiquette expert William Hanson said it hints at deep respect for the monarchy. Meghan’s stance proves she “as a non-blood royal, should defer to born royalty”.

William Hanson told sources:

It is standard practice for British royalty to allow the ‘blood royal’ to walk or stand a few paces in front of the royalty who has married in to the family, as with HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and TRH The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Even though TRH the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently presenting their own, informal, tactile interpretation of British monarchy, they are still adhering to the precedent with Meghan knowing she, as a non-blood royal, should defer to born royalty.

Harry and Meghan have stuck to this protocol all through their 16-day Pacific tour.
