ayuslennox: Sir please. when a recruiter only said " send your CV" to a provided email, should one just attach the CV without writing any thing further or what is expected from me? Really good question, thanks. What you need to do is to first make sure that your CV is saved on your laptop (or whatever device you wish to send it with) with your full name. Then when sending it,the subject of the mail should be the position you are applying for. You may decide to write a few lines, maybe about 3, stating your name again and referring to the text or email you got from the employer as your reason for sending. Something like this: "Good afternoon, this is in reference to your text (or mail) to send in my CV for the position of (state the position). My CV is here attached. I look forward to hearing from you even as I will check back via this medium tomorrow. Thank you." Hope this helps. Cheers. |

Jobs/Vacancies › What Makes You Different From Other Applicants? by insidifyguru(op): 9:48am On Oct 27, 2014 |
Good morning Nairalanders, trust you had a beautiful weekend?
Can you respond to the question above in 30secs? Ever gone for an interview and got asked the question above? Or have you ever found yourself in any situation where you needed to respond to the question of why should people listen to you instead of the other guy?
Job-seekers are jumping over themselves in the search for a job. If we get you a job, right now, do you think you can handle it? Why? What do you think you have that other job-seekers don't?
This simple exercise is necessary because this is not the kind of question that you trust to your gut instincts, it is the kind of question that you would have asked yourself and provided an answer to long before it is required of you.
So,again,I ask you, what makes you different?
Let's hear your responses in the comments section. Have a beautiful day and week. #Insidify |

Gorimakpa: I beg to disagree on some points, especially as regards including your photo in the CV. I did a lot of research about this before I finally decided that it was a good tactic to include your photo. Just make sure you do it in an artful way, and that the photo looks attractive and professional. However, you might want to avoid this strategy if you are convinced that you look like Mario Balotelli
For more insights on this, simply Google: "Should I put my photo in my CV?" You can then do your own research and decide for yourself. Thank you for your comments sir. However,I strongly disagree with you. This is not the USA or other more developed countries, this is Nigeria. What you have talked about can work in those climes, not in ours. And this is not about how beautiful you look or otherwise. Google will fetch you EVERYTHING from the web. Or did you tailor your search to specifically ask of Nigerian firms? I don't think so. Thanks again for your comments. #Insidify |

vfactor: Hmmm....I got some tips from Philips consulting ( a top recruitment and consulting firm in the country) saying that hobbies can show your strengths. E.g. Some one who enjoys playing chess can be good with analysis and strategies, which is a strength. So it's quite conflicting with what you've said... Thanj you for your comments. I too am familiar with Philips Consulting, and know they are good at what they do. Remember from the outset that I mentioned that there are no hard and fast rules to this. And as was aptly pointed out by @mustay in one of the comments on this thread, they are most times situational. Thanks again for your comments. #Insidify |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Business Gurus And Distributors, Please Help Me Oo by insidifyguru: 6:34pm On Oct 25, 2014 |
KAYCEEJUNIOR: Am Charles, I humbly need advice or contribution that will aid my research. please someones job is on the Line.
I went for an interview with one International manufacturing company, after the regerous questions from the white guys, a particular question came up from the marketing manager which is “ what strategise will You employ to help the company get a handful of distributors and agents?" I said promotional strategise, exibition strategy(trade fair), pricing strategy which I elucidated more... .but he told me that he ain't convienced and am not ready to answer the question, they gave me an email adress and told me to forward the answer their, then before Monday, they will decide my fate. I've cracked my brain and did some internet research but no findings. I intend to go for market research to meet distributors and ask them some basic questions but its raining heavily here and not sure it will ever stop today, tomorrow is Sunday and I just have today to conclude and get my findings right.
Please house, distributors, business gurus and developers help me out.
Which strategise can a marketer use to get prospective distributors and agents for a company In addition to what @Godmother said, you need to state clearly and explicitly what methods you intend to use in getting the company credible and functional distributors and agents. Just like @Godmother said, you weren't clear enough on the strategies you stated during your interview was why they weren't convinced. In the mail you'll be sending to them on Monday,do well to 1. State a step-by-step, believable, process that you will use in recruiting distributors and agents for the company. I say 'believable' because your potential employers will know if you are just saying sweet nothings to them. Let your steps be factual and brutally real. That way, they'll know you've done your homework. 2. Never give figures or quotas that you know are unrealistic and bogus. Believe me, your potential employers will know and that's the end. 3. Your financial breakdown of what you need to achieve 1 above must be top-notch. State what means you will use and state how much each step of the means will cost. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further clarifications please. #Insidify P.S: I also noticed in the body of your post a couple of grammatical errors such as 'strategise' instead of 'strategies.' Kindly endeavour to proofread the final mail you'll be sending come Monday and also have a friend you know is sound grammatically to proofread for you. This is very important please. |

mosbiod: @Insidifyguru, please can you give a website where I can do an online resume review/test for my resume? Right now,I am not aware of any website that does an online resume review/test. The best you can get are websites that will ask you to either send them your CV and have them re-craft it for you,or help you craft a CV from scratch. All for a fee of course. Hope this helps. #Insidify |
