Career › Re: Please Help, I Need A Job by insidifyguru: 1:54pm On Nov 13, 2014
noel139:
Hi house,
I'm really sorry for bothering those who might read this for any perceived inconvenience it may cause.

I am new on nairaland and a friend suggested I register and try my luck as pertaining the above mentioned topic.I have been all over nairaland for the best part of today, resisting the urge to post this but I guess I just have to try, who knows where help may come from.

Not to waste your precious time, I quit my job as an aircraft engineer two years back, took all my savings and some more to pursue my dreams of becoming a pilot and to God be the glory I am now a helicopter pilot with IFR and night privileges, licence converted to the Nigerian own, and I'm now seriously searching for a job.I know given the nature of what I study some people may jeer at me because we all know the job situation in Nigeria but please before you toe that line, me too I hve hussled big time with nothing forth coming but promises upon promises. This is just a last effort just in case I might get lucky and someone who knows someone that knows someone can help me.
I'm desperate here an would appreciate any help.

Thanks for your time good people of Nigeria

Career › Re: I Want To Leave My Job Worth Of #50k For My Education......please, Advice by insidifyguru: 1:11pm On Nov 13, 2014
rubber:
I'm an HND holder and after my service I got a job in Akure dat worth #50 thausand naira but I wish to have my first degree for future purpose despite that I don't have a sponsor n I'm a married man as well. My problem now is , bfor I got d job, I applied for Direct Entry ( O.A.U) n d admission is certain by God's grace. The question is , CAN I QUIT MY JOB FOR MY EDUCATION OR NOThuh?? Yes or no with reason.

Your contribution is very important.
Thanks.
I appreciate your current predicament.

I'd like to take sides with those who advised you earlier on not leaving your current job for your education. If you were not married, going to further your education would have been a no-brainer. But as it as been rightly mentioned earlier, you are no longer only responsible for yourself but also for your wife.

I'll advise that you stay on the job while aggressively pursuing professional qualifications in line with your chosen career path and field. Professional qualifications are even more reckoned with than a B.Sc. in Nigeria presently. You could also do well to do a PGD as well.

Wish you all the best, whatever you decide to do. #Insidify

Thanks a million for this thread. Is it important to add company's address and personal address to an online application's cover letter?

pls also endeavour to send the cv sample to princee.nosa@yahoo.com.
Thank you for your kind words.

As to your question, I'm not sure where the company's address comes in when writing your cover letter, I doubt if it does except you want to refer to the address as where you saw the vacancy (which is most unlikely). Your personal address is also not that pertinent. Having your email address and phone number on the cover letter is enough means of reaching you.

I hope this helps. #Insidify

P.S: kindly find the CV sample and 2 other CV crafting resources in the email address provided. Thank you and have a good evening.

This is lovely but mine is d aspect of age whereby u try reducing age as d way it goes now n not con responding with d waec certificate date, wouldn't there be effect at all?
Thank you for your kind words.

As per your question, reducing your age on your CV for the purpose of applying for a particular job is not advisable. Apart from it not corresponding with the age on your WAEC result, when found out that you lied,it can not only terminate your appointment with the firm but might even make the firm institute legal action against you.

Who knows, you may also want to contest for a public office later in the future and then someone may just go and dig this up. It's just better to play safe and not do this at all. Even with a sworn affidavit from court backing up your 'new' age,it is still not the best path to toe.

I hope this helps. #Insidify

Just read this thread, quite helpful. Pls I need the CV regraft resource too. sensitive.jess@yahoo.com is my email. Also,is it ok to use this email to submit CV? Thanks
Thank you for your kind words. The CV crafting resources have been forwarded to your email address.

About your question,an email address that is made up of your name is basically the best to use in submitting your CV. Something like Jessicaadebayo@gamil.com. You should also avoid the use of some adjectives such as the 'sensitive' in your email address, they can make you come accross as being unserious. Using a Gmail is also more professional as opposed to a Yahoo mail.

Hope this helps. #Insidify
