Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends. And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today! I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."2 This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning: My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride, From every mountainside, let freedom ring! And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true. And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California. But not only that: Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last! www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkihaveadream.htm |

There has been conflicting reports on the proposed world record move for Welsh winger, Gareth Bale, from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid as the transfer now appears imminent. Gareth Bale Set For Real Switch But Could Completion of This Long Awaited Move? The London club is presently considering a separate offer in addition to Real’s £86m bid for the 24-year-old forward, sources at White Hart Lane revealed to Sky Sports and the BBC Sport. The identity of the second suitor has not been made public but Manchester United have touted the Welshman throughout the summer. Bale spent two days at Jonathan Barnett’s (his agent) apartment in Marbella over the weekend and manager Andre Villas-Boas said after Sunday’s narrow home victory over Swansea that the player is expected back to the club’s training ground on Tuesday to resume a fitness programme. However, Bale’s career with Spurs looks to be winding down with Real considered in pole position to land the Welshman, but Spurs haven’t confirmed any agreement. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy signed off the staggering move for the PFA Player of the Year following talks with directors in the boardroom at White Hart Lane. (Daniel) Levy, along with Bernett and (Franco, Spurs’ football director) Baldini thrashed out terms with (Florentino, Madrid president) Perez last week. The last act will be played out when Levy and Perez sign a final formal document, but that is seen as a formality … reports the Daily Mail. Reports also suggests that Spurs have approached Chelsea about buying a replacement for their outgoing midfielder since the deal to include Real’s left-back Fabio Coentrao as part of the package, fell through. Roma’s Eric Lamela has also being lined up as a possible replacement for the Bale. Bale, who joined Tottenham for £10m in 2007 from Southampton, scored 26 goals last season on the way to claiming double gongs in the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year and the PFA Young Player of the Year, capped with the Footballer Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year. Madrid have already recruited Spanish midfielder Asier Illaramendi from Real Sociedad for £34m and Isco from Malaga for £23m, bringing their total spending this summer in excess of £50m. Having lost out of the race to sign Willian to Chelsea, Spurs are however not happy with the Stamford Bridge club’s insistence on not letting one of their attackers move the other way round, even when the (unmentioned) attacker wouldn’t want to play second fiddle to the incoming Anzhi Mahkachkala’s attacking midfielder. |

Is there any scientific prove for the appearance of rainbow in the sky during raining season OR it is a sign to remind God not to destroy the earth with water as it is written in the bible.

What is your opinion about the Channels Television interview that brought you instant fame? I have nothing much to say other than to bless God for everything. I thank God for all that happened; I thank God for my boss, his support and love. He is a good boss and I appreciate him. As far as I am concerned all things work well for those who love God and in all things, the Bible says we should praise God. The people that thought they were going to ruin me did not know that they would end up in announcing my destiny. In the history of humanity, there had never been any human being that had instant fame like I did especially in a case that was meant to end negatively. My brother-in-law in London is even so excited about the incident that he promised to assist me make big money out of this supposed mess. He had already handed the matter to an agency over there to trade mark “Oga at the Top.” But I just asked him to forget it. There is no need for that. Many of my class mates are in top positions in Nigeria currently, yet, they said I did not go to school. I can mention a lot of them here, including the Attorney General in Lagos State, Ipaye. But why should I do all that. All the same, I give all the praises to God. It was not the first interview I would be having with them (Channels Tv). After that interview we shook hands and I even gave them my complimentary card. I could see that they were not really cheerful. If there was any effect, it was on them and not me. It was the same day I met with Governor Fashola of Lagos State. Theirs took place in the morning and I met Governor Fashola later in the day. Some people believed they were up to something, but I did not know. I was only being careful with words as a security officer. We apply caution in all that we say and do. It was a live programme, the whole world was watching us, so, I did not want to be too free. But like I said, I thank God for everything. I blame nobody for anything; I see everything as an act of God. They believe they would use it to destroy my destiny but God turned everything around for me, for the better. How did your family take the development? The day of the interview, 16th of March, 2013, was the day my father was buried. It was as if it was designed to destablise me on the day of the burial of my father, but it was not so. It was three or four days after that they apologised and said it was not meant to embarrass me. Channels felt bad because it backfired. Anybody that wants to go for an interview in Channels will be very skeptical now and henceforth. I just felt it was my time for divine announcement, so I did not take it the way they thought I would take it. In fact, when I saw the T-shirt, I wanted to buy one. Some had thought that my transfer to Ibadan was a demotion, but they are wrong. It is not. They also claimed that my wife went to Channels over the issue. The question I asked was, to do what? She did not. The whole thing has only turned around to be God’s glory in my life. What is your philosophy of life and how did it apply in the case of “My Oga At The Top” case? My philosophy of life is to impact positively on this generation. I want to leave a legacy, a good and worthwhile legacy behind that will not make my family live or walk in fear when I am gone. I want to sustain my good name; and that is what I preach to my staff every day. I tell them to be open-minded; be determined; do what you will do with your best ability whether people are there or not. Note that there are people watching you and your work will speak for you when you are not there. This is what I always tell them. What is the lesson to be learnt in your “Oga At The Top” issue? Everyone should identify a lesson out of the whole saga. www.informationng.com/2013/08/shem-obafaiye-aka-my-oga-at-the-top-opens-up-on-the-issue.html |
In the cell block reserved for nursing mothers and pregnant inmates at the Kirikiri Female Prison, Lagos, toddlers clung to their mothers’ chests. They observed newsmen, when they visited last week Saturday, with a bemused expression on their young face. They are in prison because their mothers are inmates. Apparently, they weren’t aware of a better life out there. They probably thought it was normal to be confined only to the four walls of the prison. No friends, no birthday parties, no relationship at all with other children outside the prison walls. They are victims of circumstances and will remain so until they are 18 months old. These children – nine of them – were born within the walls of the prison. They live a regimented life; one brought about by the fact that in prison, rules are meant to be obeyed. When to sleep, when to eat, when to wake up, when to switch off the light and when to put it on are all regulated by prison authorities and this is the life these children have been born into. The children are all below 18 months, so they could not interact verbally with our correspondent during the visit, which was aimed at shedding light on their lives. “When the children are a year and half old (18 months), the mothers have to let them go. That is the regulation. Families of the inmates take the children away and take care of them till the mother gets out,” spokesperson of the Nigerian Prisons Service in Lagos, Mr. Biyi Jeje, had explained to Saturday PUNCH. When the gate to the main yard of the prison swung open on the day our correspondent visited, dozens of inmates were seen doing their laundry on the grassy open ground. Chattering while some were laughing, the inmates (the prison officials forbade them being called prisoners) were cheerful. An official of the prison told Saturday PUNCH why. “They have the opportunity of doing their laundry once in a week. It is like a social time for them. They are able to wash their clothes and beddings and interact more,” the officials said. A prayer and counseling session was ongoing in another part of the prison. A dozen inmates in white prison-style gown clapped and sang in a small hall, thanking God for life and good health. Our correspondent was ushered into the cells of the nursing mothers. A couple of them shared a small cell with bunk beds and the others shared a bigger one. Twenty five-year-old Shade (not real name) had her five-month-old baby boy in her arms when our correspondent entered the cell she shared with five other nursing mothers. Prison officials were also in tow. It was not eating time, so newsmen could not observe how the children were fed. “You can ask them any question so far as it has nothing to do with why they are here and you protect their identities. We don’t want trouble from their lawyers,” an official said. |

PROPHESY FOR ARSENE WENGER And the Lord said unto Wenger,"Behold I have heard your cry and indeed I have seen the works of the Mancites, the Manuzites, the Chelshites and the Tottentites. I have seen how the Mancites have put their trust in filthy mammon. I will not permit them for this season. I have also seen how the Manuzites lean on the arm of Moyes. I will pity them for more seasons since their father, Alex Ferguson obeyed and worshipped me! However the sin of the Chelsites and the Tottentites are beyond pardon. The Chelsites have made gods of their old prophet Mourinho and have not allowed my previous prophets to prosper. But the Tottentites have vexed memost of all. They have made proudboasts of their skill and their winger, Bale. They have taunted their better rivals and kicked themeven as they lay on the floor. For verily verily I say unto them Europa league is their due. Wenger my Economic prophet, Fabregas had returned to the land of his birth and Nasri had moved on to the land of oil and gold. And Robin the son of Van Persie of the tribe of holland moved to Old trafford, the Promise land which I gave to Manuzite My son, Arsene Wenger For this sin of not signing quality players, I have instructed mighty angels to seal up the goal post of all your opponents on every pitch of play. In vain will Walcott shoot, for nought will Wilshere sprint. Your midfield will wallow in confusion, even as your defence swims in goals. When these things happen, Arsene be aware and know that signing quality players is the source of your success, but also endeavour to buy Rooney, Gotze Lewandoski and Bale. If you do this before the closure of transfer window, the drought of trophies that has assailed you will end. I have spoken"! |
