Marriage is sacred and must be honourable. Marriage is what makes the world go round and meanningful. Despite the joys and pleasure of being married, only few understand the purpose of marriage. Marriage is bassically for four reasons, which i would to my own understanding list in there order of importance; COMPANIONSHIP, PROTECTION, S.EXUAL SATISFACTION AND PROCREATION. N.B: There are also other reasons but this i count more important. I want to us to discuss on the protection part of it. Protecting someone simply mean doing everything within your reach to save someone from any form of evil. It can simply be reagrded has defending. Protecting the one you love. I was reading a story by KAYEMJAY on the litrature section 'The Complete Assasin (TCA)' Where there is a family of five(father, mother and three children) who were having a nice time during their dinner, and suddenly armed robbers bursted into their apartment asking for money in which the man simply obliged. After collecting and confirming the money, the gang leader then annouced that one of his boys would love to have carnal knowledge of the wife, in the presence of his husband and children. She was grabed, she struggled but was overpowered and was succesfully put on her four and the guy was having his way with her. But the husband who at gunpoint, who could not take it anylonger dashed at the man and was shot on the chest by the gang leader and was left to struggle for his life in the pool of his own blood, in which he latter died before the robbers left the scene. Now to the point, many family have exprienced this situation, some acted calmly, some otherwise. Did the husband acted ignorantly or that is the best thing he should have done in such situation? Note this is just one of many cases that happens on daily bases. What is the best thing we can do when we come to the junction of protecting our loved ones, even when it might involve and take our life like donating our vital organ, going on a sucidal mission to save our loved ones, subjecting ourself to serious suffering or torture e.t.c? |

When I was a kid, my dad bought a new car and drove us to church one Sunday. It was a prophetic service and our pastor was being used by God that day to deliver people from poverty. Suddenly, our pastor looked at my dad and said, "Daddy Vicky, God is set to bless you!" My mum jumped up and shouted excitedly, "Amen!!!" My dad was excited too. The pastor then came closer, placed his hand on my dad's head and prayed for him. As our pastor turned to climb the alter, God told him something. He stopped, looked at my dad and said, "Daddy Vicky, you bought a new car last week?" "Yes sir." my dad responded with much surprise on his face. Then our pastor said, "God said I should tell you to sow your CAR KEY into my life." I was shocked that my dad did not argue with the pastor, he just put his hand in his pocket, brought out the car key and gave to our pastor. After about 5 minutes, my dad stood up, went outside the church, he didn't even wait till the end of the service. I could see him boarding an Okada going home. "He must be very worried." I reasoned in utter fear and confusion. After a while, he returned to church with the SPARE KEY of his car and drove the car back to the house. I was so stunned at what I was seeing. When I asked him why he acted that way he.said, "Vicky, use your brain, the pastor asked for the KEY and NOT the CAR." What do you think of Daddy Vicky?t |

The Super Eagles will commence training in Abuja on Monday as no fewer than 10 players arrived at the team’s camp on Monday in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) 2015 qualifier against Sudan. Nigeria will play Sudan in Omdurman on Oct. 11 before a return-leg on Oct. 15 in AFCON 2015 qualifier after a 2-3 loss to Congo in Calabar and a goalless draw in South Africa. A statement issued in Abuja by Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles Media Officer, said the players were expected to begin training, while others would join before dinner on Tuesday. It listed Omatsone Aluko of Hull City, Hope Akpan and Babatunde Michael, who shone at the Brazil 2014 World Cup, as the early arrivals. Noskhare Igiebor, a midfield gem, who recently relocated to Israel, Aaron Samuel, Gbolahan Salami of Warri Wolves FC and his team captain Azubuike Egwuekwe, are among the first 10 players to arrive. Emem Edward, goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim and leading Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) scorer, Ighodalo Osagunna complete the number in camp. "As at 3p.m. on Monday, at least 10 players have arrived the team’s camp with training expected to commence on Tuesday morning at the training pitch of the Abuja National Stadium. "All other players invited for the game are expected on Tuesday before dinner time,’’ the statement read. It quoted Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, as saying that he was impressed by the response of the players, as there was a need for cohesion before the crucial match. "The response so far has been wonderful and I am in touch with those who are yet to arrive and they will surely be here on time for proper preparation against Sudan,’’ the statement quoted Keshi as saying. Is this where HIV came from? 2014-10-06 09:04 Abuja - A new study into the origins of the AIDS virus suggests one strain of HIV appeared in the early 20th century in the western region of Congo and spread through a swath of Africa over the next several decades without notice by the rest of the world. The researchers say the findings support, but don't prove, the theory that the virus expanded its reach in Africa due to social factors such as railroad expansion, changing sexual habits and unsafe medical practices. How HIV became a pandemic The study adds to our understanding of "how a virus that is less transmissible than other pathogens like malaria and the common cold can still become established in the human population and eventually grow into a devastating pandemic," said study co- author Philippe Lemey, from the Rega Institute for Medical Research at Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. "The fact that social changes were critical in the rise of the virus suggests that such changes may also be an important factor in combating epidemic spread," Lemey said. The origins of HIV, the sexually transmitted virus that causes AIDS, are still hazy. Scientists believe variations of the virus migrated from primates, possibly monkeys and chimps, to humans in Africa. Then two strains of the virus, known as HIV-1 and HIV-2, developed in people. The new study, published in the Oct. 3 issue in the journal Science, looks at a form of HIV-1, the prevalent strain in the world today. Scientists previously determined that it existed in heterosexual populations in the first half of the 20th century, but exactly where and when it appeared wasn't clear. Initial appearance of HIV Now, the study authors say analysis of virus samples suggests this form of HIV emerged in Kinshasa, the capital of what is now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in the early 1920s. The researchers relied on a "molecular clock" model to determine the timing. "Its initial spread followed the Democratic Republic of Congo's transport links, in particular its railways, that made Kinshasa one of the best connected of all central African cities," Lemey said. This new ease of movement, coupled with prostitution (a byproduct of development) and use of unsterilized needles by medical workers treating sex workers may have boosted transmission of the virus, he said. Why these findings matter? Lemey said the research reveals a "perfect storm" of social changes that may have fostered HIV's spread. This matters now, he said, because "knowledge of the circumstances that facilitated the expansion of the epidemic can assist the development of effective education and prevention programs." According to Lemey, the virus may have gone undetected because few people were infected at first and because the symptoms caused by the AIDS-related decline of the body's immune system were "definitely not new to Africa." AIDS wasn't formally recognized until 1981 after it had spread across the world. Since then about 75 million people have been infected, according to a United Nations report. Lemey cautioned that the findings don't offer insight into how a variation of the virus leaped from animals to people, or what might have happened if the virus had been recognized decades ago. There's no way to know if medical officials could have stopped its spread. Still, the study authors say the findings could be a template for understanding the spread of other blood-transmitted diseases such as hepatitis C. Currently, researchers around the world are struggling to contain Ebola infections in Africa. William Schneider, a professor who studies the history of medicine at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, praised the study for providing "a fascinating and helpful framework" to understand the origins of HIV/AIDS. Schneider is part of a team of historians and anthropologists exploring the roots of the disease in Africa. However, Schneider said the authors' theories about the spread of the disease aren't convincing because they're based on questionable information from a time when Europeans controlled much of Africa. "Colonial records are well-known by historians and anthropologists to be biased, selective and above all in need of broader understanding of historical and cultural circumstances to evaluate their usefulness," he said.b |

PREMIUM TIMES ''Twenty-four hours after her claim to have acquired a Masters degree from the St. Paul’s University in the United States was punctured, PREMIUM TIMES has uncovered another false claim by our embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah. This time, the minister lied on oath to the Nigerian Senate, claiming another American ‘university’, Pacific Christian University awarded her an honorary doctorate degree in 1998. Mrs. Oduah made the claim in a 7-page resume she distributed to Nigeria’s 109 senators during her confirmation hearing on July 2, 2011. On page four of the document, the minister claimed the university, which she said was based in Glendale, awarded her an honorary doctorate in Business Administration. Download the resume Minister Stella Oduah submitted to the senate here. It was based on this document that she was grilled and eventually confirmed by the lawmakers. But investigations by PREMIUM TIMES suggest that no university called Pacific Christian University exists in the United States. The U.S. Department of Education, through its National Centre for Education Statistics, keeps an up-to-date database of all public libraries and educational institutions in the country – public, private and colleges. PREMIUM TIMES reporters spent hours on Wednesday searching this database. Our reporters searched by state (California), city (Glendale) and name of institution (Pacific Christian University). Yet, nothing came up in the name of the university Mrs. Oduah claimed gave her an honorary doctorate. According to the database, there are six colleges (universities) in Glendale, a city of 191,719 inhabitants in Los Angeles County, in the state of California. The colleges are American Medical Sciences Centre, Brand College, Glendale Career College, Glendale Community and North-West College. There is no such university known as Christian Pacific College as claimed by the minister. The spokesperson for the National Centre for Educational Statistics, Susan Ad, could however not be reached for comments. She is yet to return calls and reply an email sent to her by this newspaper. The spokespersons for the minister appear unwilling to comment for this story. Efforts by PREMIUM TIMES to get them to react to this new revelation were unsuccessful. Joe Obi, her special assistant on media, did not answer or return calls. Yakubu Datti, the spokesperson of the aviation agencies, who usually speak for her, answered our call but immediately said he would call back. He is yet to do so as at the time of publishing this. Meanwhile, in the same resume she submitted to the Senate, Mrs. Oduah did not indicate that she got a Masters from St. Paul, raising questions on why she made that claim in her official citations and profiles posted on the Ministry of Aviation website, her personal website and her Wikipedia page. She only claimed in the document to the Senate that she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Paul’s College in 1982, a claim that PREMIUM TIMES is investigating. The spokesperson for the Nigerian senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, tried Tuesday to extricate the senate from blame as Nigerians criticize the lawmakers for conducting a sham screening exercise that allowed Mrs. Oduah to get away with lies and deceits. Mr. Abaribe said the lawmakers depend largely on the nation’s security agencies to help them investigate claims by appointees of the president. He said in conducting screening exercises, the senate relies largely on reports forwarded to it by the security agencies. Mrs. Oduah, and her associates have spent the last several hours scrambling to clean up the minister’s biographies on the Internet, following allegations that she lied about her academic qualifications. Already, Mrs. Oduah’s biography on the website of the Ministry of Aviation has been revised, with references to St. Paul’s College now wiped out. The Wikipedia page of the minister was also edited and it now has no reference to the university Mrs. Oduah attended. The last edit on the Wikipedia page was done at 14:41 p.m. Nigerian time Tuesday. All links and reference materials on the Wikipedia page capable of linking the minister to the university that has disowned her have also been deleted. Even the minister’s personal website has been reviewed to remove any reference to St. Paul’s College. Mrs. Oduah had since October been enmeshed in a a N255million armoured cars scandal in which she was accused of compelling an agency under her supervision, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, to buy her two exotic bullet cars at clearly inflated prices. The purchase of the cars generated outrage for weeks because its cost was inflated, and it was neither listed in the government-appr oved budget nor did it comply with the Nigeria’s public procurement law. The House of Representatives has since asked President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the minister but the president has failed to act''. Premium Times |

This was my first suggestion after reading the president's reply. But i doubt it if the president can do this vividly without fear or favour. If this investigation is not diplomatically handle and the report released to the public then we can assume that OBJ allegations are truth that can not be neglected. Imagine the person you said blackmailed you are are telling he he would be quized and not investigated (your definition of investigaion is quized) Ps: GEJ your letter is not enough to clear you of this allegations we need action. |
