SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Algeria: Russia 2018 FIFA WC Qualifier Sat.12 5PM by Ipisi(op): 1:01am On Nov 11, 2016
Nigeria will host old foes Algeria on matchday 2 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier this weekend in a match both teams cannot afford to lose.

Ahead of the clash, See five unforgettable encounters between the two teams…

NIGERIA 3-0 ALGERIA (1980 AFCON FINAL)

After finnishing third at the 1976 and 1978 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria were eventually crowned champions of Africa as hosts in 1980.

Parading the likes of skipper Christian Chukwu, Felix Owolabi, Segun Odegbami, the late duo of Muda Lawal and Best Ogedengbe, Nigeria defeated Algeria 3-0 in the final to emerge champions.
Nigeria raced to a 2-0 first half lead thanks to a brace by Odegbami before Lawal added a third to secure the win.

ALGERIA 5-1 NIGERIA (1990 AFCON, GROUP STAGE)

Algeria handed Nigeria one of their heaviest defeats at the Africa Cup of Nations following a 5-1 thrashing in the opening game of the 1990 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Algeria. Rabah Madjer opened the scoring for Algeria in the first half before doubling their lead early in the second half. Djamel Menad scored the third and fourth goals before Djamel Amani completed the rout with the hosts' fifth goal.
Nigeria's only goal was scored by Emmanuel Okocha less than 10 minutes to the end of the game.

NIGERIA 1-1 ALGERIA: NIGERIA WON 9-8 ON PENALTIES (1988 AFCON, S/FINALS)

The semi-final clash at the Morocco 1988 Africa Cup of Nations between Nigeria and Algeria was certainly one of the epic encounters between both rivals. Nigeria took the lead on 36 minutes following an own goal by Abdelrazak Belgharbi. With six minutes left, Ademola Adeshina was sent off with Algeria going on to equalise two minutes later through Rachid Maatar. Nigeria defender Bright Omokaro earned the nickname "10-10" after his crunching tackled reduced Algeria too to 10 men. After playing 1-1 in 120 minutes, Nigeria went on to win 9-8 on penalties to advance into the final. The hero for Nigeria was Peter Rufai who stopped Lakhdar Belloumi's spot kick to seal the win for the Eagles.

ALGERIA 1-1 NIGERIA (1994 W/CUP QUALIFIER, 2ND LEG)

After years of heartbreak, Nigeria eventually qualified for the 1994 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States of America. Under the tutelage of Dutch coach, Clemens Westerhor, Nigeria beat Cote d'Ivoire and Algeria to claim Group A's sole ticket. Needing just a point to usurp Cote d'Ivoire as eventual Group A winners, Nigeria held Algeria to a nerve-racking 1-1 draw in their last group game to secure qualification. Finidi George put Nigeria 1-0 ahead 20 minutes into the first half but a 66th minute goal from Abdelhafid Tasfaout drew Algeria level. Despite coming under a barrage of attacks from the Algerians, Nigeria held on to qualify for their first ever World Cup.

ALGERIA 2-5 NIGERIA (2006 W/CUP QUALIFIER, 2ND LEG)

The last time both Nigeria and Algeria were grouped together in a World Cup qualifier was in the race for the Germany 2006 World Cup. In the first leg at the Abuja National Stadium, Joseph Yobo's late header gave Nigeria a 1-0 win. Following a costly 1-1 home draw against Angola in Kano, Nigeria needed to do what they had never done before, beat Algeria right in their backyard to still be in contention. And that was exactly what they did as Nigeria won 5-2 thanks to goals from Obafemi Martins (brace), John Utaka, Yusuf Ayila and Christian Obodo. Unfortunately, despite the win against Algeria, Nigeria would go on to lose the group's sole ticket to Angola, as they were edged out on the head-to-head rule.

Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers GROUP B

Nigeria vs Algeria

Venue: Nest of Champions, Akwa Ibom Stadium Uyo (NGA)

Date: Saturday 12 Nov 2016

Time: 17:00 Local time (5:00 Pm)

Nigeria will be aiming for a ninth victory over Algeria when both countries clash again on Saturday in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.

There have been 17 clashes between both teams (all at competitive level), with Nigeria winning eight times, drawing three and losing six.

Nigeria captain Mikel Obi was less than three years old the last time Algeria defeated Nigeria, in the final of the 1990 Africa Cup of Nations in Algiers.
Super Eagles’ current goalkeepers’ trainer Aloysius Agu was the Eagles’ goalkeeper and captain that day, 16th March 1990.

It was a tough game at the July 5 Stadium in Algiers, but the Fennecs won their first (and still only) Africa title when Cherif Oudjani’s long range effort beat Agu for the only goal of the match.

At that same competition, Algeria had beaten the Eagles 5-1 in the opening match. But the Eagles would remember that and pay back the Fennecs when lashing their hosts 5-2 in Oran in a 2006 World Cup qualifier on 4th September 2005.

The first clash between both countries was on 10th January 1973, during the football event of the 2nd All-Africa Games that Nigeria hosted. The match ended 2-2.

Seven years later, the Green Eagles would thrash the Algerians 3-0 to lift their first Africa Cup title.

In their last four confrontations, the Eagles have enjoyed a winning streak against the Algerians, which is more than the three consecutive wins Algeria had over Nigeria between October 1981 and March 1982.

In the qualifying race for Espana ’82, Algeria beat Nigeria 2-0 in Lagos and 2-1 in Constantine, and the Fennecs then came from behind to edge the Eagles 2-1 at the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations in Libya.

In an era where children are more interested in visuals and things that will help them to play more, it is beyond interesting to find some who are insightful and brilliant.

Perhaps, children that have shown a higher level of understanding when it comes to artistic traits and qualities are closer to older folk who exhibit those traits and qualities. Michelle Nkamankeng is a 7-year-old author that is out to inspire children around her.

The South African author is the youngest published author in Africa, she has made history by doing something remarkable at such a young age. It is imperative for parents to guide their children in taking the right path.Nkamankeng wrote the book ‘Waiting for waves’, a book that focuses on hope and self-confidence.

It is intriguing that a neophyte writer like her can produce a beautiful work like this. Although the young girl was born in South Africa, her parents are from Cameroon. She is a grade two learner at Sacred Heart college, She wrote her first book when she was six years old and she has never been able to stop since then. The sweet little girl is on her fourth book now.

CrimeSee Photo Of Two Egyptian Children Engaged To Be Married That Triggered Outrage by Ipisi(op): 6:00pm On Oct 23, 2016
Two Egyptian children engaged to be married trigger outrage

While celebrating his eldest son's lavish wedding, at which a number of famous singers and belly dancers performed, Nasser Hassan decided to "double the joy," he later recalled. He announced that his son Omar would marry his cousin Gharam.

At the wedding, held in a province about 75 miles north of Cairo, the guests didn’t find it strange. Some would later tell Egypt’s Al Watan newspaper that there was “nothing inappropriate,” adding that it was only “an engagement, not a marriage".

Omar is 12 years old. His fiancee, Gharam, is 11.

Egyptian laws prohibit official registration for marriages for anyone under the age of 18. But the practice remains prevalent. According to UNICEF, 17 percent of Egyptian girls are married before the age of 18, the vast majority of the unions taking place in rural areas.

This wasn’t the first child marriage in the province this year. In June, a 10-year-old bride in a pink dress sat next to her 12-year-old groom, celebrating their wedding. The National Center for Motherhood and Childhood deemed the marriage "an assassination of childhood."

Omar’s father said his decision was meant to shield Omar and Gharam. “We have to protect them in their early years before they reach the age of deviation,” he told local newspapers.

Two Months After, Nigerian Rio Olympic Football finally gets Japanese Surgeon admirer cash reward

We can exclusively reveal that some officials of the Nigeria team to the Rio Olympics have already received their cash from the $390,000 donated by a Japanese admirer at the games. The officials each received $14,000.
It was understood that the cash backup for the cheques has finally come through more than two months after the donation and already a number of officials have received their payments.

Wealthy Japanese surgeon Katsuya Takasu was highly impressed with the performance of the Samson Siasia-led team to Rio 2016 despite the many hurdles they faced and wrote out two cheques, one in favour of Siasia and the other for Chelsea star Mikel Obi.

The team agreed that the players be paid by Mikel, while Siasia sort out the officials. The documentation for the cheque in Mikel’s name is expected to be completed this week for the players to also smile to the bank shortly.

Both players and officials had earlier expressed fears after the long delay it took to cash the cheques. Nigeria finished third at the Rio Olympics to complete a football Olympics medals set – Gold in 1996, silver in 2008 and bronze in 2016.

So bad of you. @bolded

Support your own.
Yes Of course I am very much in support Nigeria football but anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Did you see the branded Ifeanyi Ubah supporters truck when they came to Lagos for the #NPFLFinalDay match with MFM FC?

It would cost them (the Club management and Enugu state govt) nothing to hire a clean and better truck with a well branded banners just for some hours of joyous parade. Remember they were paid 40 million Naira as champions and a fraction of that money if used well could go a long way.

So let's stop celebrating mediocrity for once in Nigeria... please

Nigeria Professional Football League Champions, Enugu Rangers International FC yesterday took to the streets of Enugu state capital to celebrate with their fans for winning the league Trophy for the first time after 32 years but one thing that caught so many eyes and so got so many mouths talking, is their so-called PARADE TRUCK. But Nigerian football lovers and fans believed they made a mess of the whole thing by using that ugly and dirty Truck.
Meanwhile, the victory motorcade, draped in Rangers traditional red and white colours, took off from the Rangers camp in Emene at about 10am and they passed through Abakpa Nike, Trans Ekulu before they terminated at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
In the meantime, sports commissioner Charles Ndukwe has announced Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will host both players and officials of Rangers on Tuesday at the National Orthopedic Hospital in Enugu, where striker Ifeanyi Egwim is fast recovering from a major leg injury he suffered on the final day of action.

The Governor is expected to on this day pledge his reward to the new Nigeria champions. Officials said the reception was delayed because government wanted to put some logistics in place before the event.

This has long gone viral on all Social Media platform in Nigeria since yesterday.

They wanted to imitate their European Counterparts but messed it all up>>> Lolzz
