deeptesting:

Young man nobody is laying claim to the purported land and nobody is saying slums should not be developed, what we are saying is government responsibility towards its poor citizens who lives in slums...keep your bigotry at home and don't bring it to a public forum, you think everyone in the slums of Lagos are non-indigenes? We also have Lagosians living in slums...drop your myopic view of issues and embrace looking at matters from a wholistic perspective as it affects Nigerians.

I wonder who has added bigotry to this debate. Nothing in my statement has any tribal coloration. Does this not tell you what your own intentions are.The tribal cards some of us try to play in Nigeria would so much backfire someday, it has its limits. If they say some people own the slums and they have their documents, common sense says you go to court and get a stay of action. In as much as I agree there would always be poor people, but you wont take what is not yours. We are this way in Africa because of this entitlement mentality. "its not mine but dont you know I am poor".

A lot of people on this thread are so deluded. You are always crying for the poor yet
any opportunity you have to better their lots, you turn your eyes away.

The question I have always asked is; who owns the land?
Do you erect a structure on what is not yours and claim poverty.
Has anybody come to your fathers village with Tipper to level your
home and the world is not supporting you to fight.

Again, shanties and slums harbor the greatest no of criminals. You cant eat your
cake and have it.

It is the duty of these country reps to make noise because that is the
only way they can get funding. Make no noise, make no dollars.

Dont support evil because you dont like someones face.
I guess if the slum sites were your fathers property, you would
dash it to the poor because they would always be with you.

Ignorance is indeed bliss

homesteady:

The way some people spew trash amazes me!!
Then where should the poor lagosians go to?
Or is it non-indigenes that make up the most percentage of the poor people in lagos?

You talk of poor people. Is the land theirs? or because you are poor you should be given what is not yours.
You go erect shanties on a property that is not yours what do you expect. The same thing you see all over VI
on properties that are being erected. People go there and build shanties, so when the owners come to build,
they would stay and claim they are poor and no where to go. Did you fall from the Sky.

I ll only have a problem with what the govt. is doing if it is your fathers property and
you have the documents. Nobody SHOULD intimidate you in anyway, you can do whatever you like with it
but not on another mans property.

This is my argument.
I have a land somewhere in a city.I leave it unused for some time
You go to the land and erect shanties, slums etc.I come back several years after
and I ask you to leave because I now need my land to do something meaningful then you start
crying blue murder.
The truth be told, provided you did not buy the land and it is not your inheritance, you
do not have any claim to it whatsoever.
It amazes me how some organisations make noise out of nothing. Even outside of the country,
despite the fact that the land is yours or your inheritance, you are still told what and how to build
on it because there is a master plan. If you left your village without penny, what do you expect
in the city, inherit someones land or property?

Please lets use our brains before we make comments abeg.

Travel / Re: Dana Air Responds To Nairalander's Claim by iresearcher(m): 10:14am On Jun 13, 2013
obailala:

If I understand the story here, the original report stated that the plane took off and then turned around because they noticed a fault. Now Dana is saying that the plane did not actually leave the ground before the fault was spotted and flight cancelled.

If this is the case then that's fine, but the most important thing is that there was a fault on a plane and passengers had already boarded and the doors closed before the 'snag' was spotted. God help us! undecided

No Sir, read the 3rd paragraph carefully. Its all about PR.

Travel / Re: Dana Air Responds To Nairalander's Claim by iresearcher(m): 10:06am On Jun 13, 2013
Princek12: If you guys read critically, Dana Air's statement supports the Nairalander's claim. The only difference between Dana and the Nairanlander's claim, however, is the use of semantics and euphemism. What the Nairalander referred to as a "technical fault," Dana referred to as a "snag." Further, the Nairalander said that the flight took off and had to return to its origin due to the technical fault. Similarly, Dana maintains that the flight was "canceled" as a matter of precaution because of the "snag," in line with "global best practices." It is noteworthy that Dana's admission that the plane was grounded and that another plane had to "ferry" the 44 passengers to Abuja safely is an implied admission that the plane had a snag or technical fault and returned to its origin. This supports the technical fault assertion made by the Nairalander.

The so called "snag" or "technical fault" was apparently serious enough to render the plane incapable of flying, as--by virtue of Dana's admissions--the plane is now grounded and has to be recertified by the regulatory authorities.

Overall, the Nairalander's claim is true by virtue of Dana's statement. Dana's statement was obviously meant to do damage control, and it is nothing more than saying the same story in a mild way, which is a prudent use of euphemism. It is analogous to saying someone kicked the bucket, rather than say the person died.

Omo, you are a smart dude

Its amazing how people dont read and more shocking is the number of people that
dont read compared to those that read and comprehend.

The 2 stories are perfectly the same just the use of words made the difference.
So many illiterates online these days and that is why Nigerians fail woefully.

Smae stories can appear on NL and also on Yahoo news. go read the comments. You will see amazing differences

The same thing you see all over FB. What is happening to my country abeg
