What a loss to Nigeria IT space. At 36 life is just beginning. But for some it's midnight. |
Gamsole founder, and Techpoint Africa’s first angel investor, Abiola Olaniran dies at 36Abiola Olaniran, the soft-spoken software engineer who turned a campus coding hobby into one of Africa’s best-known mobile-gaming brands, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, aged 36. Sources close to the family confirm that the Gamsole founder was buried the same day in a private ceremony. Although he shunned the limelight, Olaniran’s résumé reads like a highlight reel of Africa’s emerging tech scene. After leading his Obafemi Awolowo University team to national victory in the 2010 Microsoft Imagine Cup, he doubled down on game development and, two years later, incorporated Gamsole in Lagos. At a time when Africa’s gaming scene was almost non-existent, he chose the then-new Windows Phone store as his launchpad, cranking out colourful casual titles that resonated far beyond Nigeria’s borders. By early 2015 Gamsole had crossed the 10-million-download mark across Windows Phone, Android and feature-phone stores, a milestone that placed the company, and African game development, on the global map. That same year, the studio announced its flagship endless runner title, Gidi Run, which it would later launch in partnership with MTN, ushering in a new approach to games monetisation within Africa. International recognition followed quickly. In February 2015 Forbes Africa placed Olaniran on its coveted “30 Under 30” list alongside Hotels.ng’s Mark Essien and Andela’s Iyin Aboyeji. The magazine doubled down the following year, naming him one of the “30 Most Promising Young African Entrepreneurs” for 2016. These accolades cemented his reputation as a continental flag-bearer for African gaming. The accolades crowned a period in which investors and fellow founders began to view African gaming as investable, largely because Olaniran had shown what was possible with lean resources and relentless iteration. Yet industry peers remember him as much for his quiet generosity as for his coding prowess. https://techpoint.africa/news/gamsole-founder-abiola-olaniran-dies-at-36/

Nigeria as a whole have some of the best delicacy in pan Africa. |
Great article and a food for taught. That Nigeria lost its glory its a big lie as long as the potentials are there. Nigeria is called giant of africa not because we are many but Nigeria has produced intellects, scientists and industrialist. Southafrica is what it is today because of WHITE hegemony. Many of the blacks don't understand this. Take a look at southafrica, kidnapping has gone over the roof. Poor black South Africans now kidnap their white counterpart for money. When you talk about leadership it's about the ideas. Whites control the economy hence you see many poor blacks. Very soon things will fall into place Nigeria will shine again. Mind you trump has promised to repatriate white southafricans to nebraska this will affect their economy. Nigeria will rise. |
Is like in India you have lots of drug addicts there. Like me if you hawk you your substance around me. You can make a dime because I'm substance proof. |

Uefa has banned FK Arsenal Tivat from European competition for 10 years after an investigation into allegations of match-fixing involving the Montenegrin club. A number of players and officials of Arsenal Tivat have also received bans which European football's governing body has asked Fifa to extend worldwide. Uefa said, external the punishment, which also includes a €500,000 (£433,000) fine and runs up to and including the 2034-35 season, was in relation to a Conference League qualifying tie between Armenian side Alashkert and Arsenal Tivat in July 2023. Arsenal Tivat drew 1-1 at Alashkert before being beaten 6-1 at home in the reverse fixture. Uefa said Arsenal Tivat had violated article 11 of its disciplinary regulations which refers to "general principles of conduct" and article 12 which covers the "integrity of matches and competitions and match-fixing". Arsenal Tivat player Nikola Celebic and official Ranko Krgovic were "banned from exercising any football-related activity for life". Three other players - Cetko Manojlovic, Dusan Puletic and Radule Zivkovic - were also banned for 10 years. Arsenal Tivat won a relegation play-off last season to maintain their place in their country's top flight. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cz9kl400l09o

Great choice you've made. To be a member of ADC or any other party is the same. In you local LGA ask for the ward you're in. Ward means area and meeting venue. As simple as that.. |
All these statistics are lame. Not when hunger is ravaging the people. |
What then how will a family cope. This is brutal.i hope those in authority are listening. |
We want equal rights and justices sir. That is what Nigeria needs. Not promises. |
Wow. So southafrica s are not Saints after all. Mkhwanazi said more than 100 case files were taken away from the political killings task team and have not been investigated further since.Yet some of them crawl to nairaland to cry about organised crime. |
Johannesburg, South Africa Reuters — South African President Cyril Ramaphosa placed police minister Senzo Mchunu on immediate leave of absence on Sunday, following accusations by a top police official that he had colluded with a criminal syndicate and interfered in high-profile investigations. Mchunu denied the allegations by Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, police commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal province, at a media briefing last Sunday. He said the accusations were baseless and in a statement issued by his spokesperson last week said he was committed to upholding the rule of law. Ramaphosa, whose rise to the highest office was built on promises to fight corruption, has been under pressure to act swiftly as political parties and citizens said the allegations called into question the integrity of the criminal justice system. “These allegations therefore call for an urgent and comprehensive investigation,” Ramaphosa said in a public address which was carried by the public broadcaster and private TV stations, adding he would establish a judicial commission of inquiry for this purpose. Ramaphosa said he will appoint law professor Firoz Cachalia as acting minister of police. Mchunu is a senior figure in Ramaphosa’s African National Congress (ANC) party, and political analysts have said he could run for a leadership position at the ANC’s next elective conference in 2027. Citing digital evidence such as WhatsApp messages, Mkhwanazi’s allegations included that Mchunu had disbanded a police unit tasked with investigating politically motivated killings to protect politicians, police officers and other people linked to a criminal syndicate. Mkhwanazi said more than 100 case files were taken away from the political killings task team and have not been investigated further since. The Democratic Alliance party, the ANC’s main coalition partner, called for a parliamentary inquiry into the allegations against Mchunu. At least one opposition party has called for his suspension https://amp-cnn-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/07/14/africa/south-africa-police-minister-allegations-intl?amp_js_v=a6&_gsa=1#referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&_tf=From%20%251%24s&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2F2025%2F07%2F14%2Fafrica%2Fsouth-africa-police-minister-allegations-intl
