Business / Re: How Dangote Sold Bank For N1.2 Billion, Shut Down Companies Over Gov't Policies by Ishilove: 4:37pm On Aug 29
When textile businesses were booming, we set up our textile mills called Dangote General Textile Mills in Kano. Then, we massively invested billions at that time

“We also went and bought the foreign shareholder of Nigeria Textile Mill, which was a textile mill set up for the Western Region by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. That was 1960. At the end of the day, there was no government protection. We had to shut both the two factories."

I don't understand. How old was Dangote in 1960?? undecided

Most of them are not interested in reading the article in the first place. They have an agenda that they must pursue, no matter what the article says.

It happens all the time on this site.
It has become very obvious and it is quite nauseating to behold

This is the third or 4th BRT accident in the last 2 months...!

The last ones had absolutely nothing to do with issues like lane disruptions.

There is clearly poor driving ethics among BRT drivers.

Maybe they need to look deeper into the recruitment process for these drivers.
I understand and I agree, however, the person I was quoting was speculating with much confidence that the cause of this particular accident was "bad roads".

We are in serious problem in Nigeria, Nigerians can't read, majority of the commenters didn't read or digest the article before rushing to comment. Are this the leaders of tomorrow. You will find the most stupid Nigerians on Nairaland. The article clearly states that *investigations at the scene revealed that the BRT bus headed inward Iyana Ipaja in an attempt to avoid crushing a commercial motorcyclist with passengers plying the BRT corridor illegally, collided with an oncoming BRT bus.*
It is quite appalling, really. If they find it difficult reading a short, six-paragraph article, I then wonder how they were able to pass their exams since their attention span doesn't go beyond two sentences.

What led to the BRT driver dodging the motorcyclist? At least, the motorcyclist was reckless on the road. "Illegally plying" is already in the post. A potholes or a gallop is likely not what created the need for the motorcyclist to illegally ply the lane (corridor). Also, the BRT driver was reckless for not noticing the motorcyclist in time.
You obviously don't understand the structure of the BRT corridor, or how it works for that matter. I'm not even sure you live in Lagos because if you did, you will not be making these kinds of comments.

In short, you do not live in Lagos, I am sure of that. A Lagos resident will not say what you are saying because they understand the nature of the BRT corridor.

Commercial bikes are banned from certain areas of Lagos and the Lagos-Abeokuta express way is one of them. The BRT corridor was constructed as a dedicated road lane for BRT buses, and commercial buses, as well as private vehicles and bikes are banned from using the corridor which is just a two-lane road.

When bikes start flying upandan the road like houseflies, the BRT drivers have to be extra vigilant in order not to crush them. The bike rider obviously tried to cut into the front of the driver, and in order to avoid hitting him, the driver went off his lane and collided with the other bus coming from the opposite direction.

Many of the commenters did not read the full post, because if they did they would have seen the cause of the accident written in English language which I assume they know.

The only sordid on this planet is a man who is foolish enough to marry a woman who has been fvcked and mounted by another man.

Those who married single mothers are even more sordid

How would you pay bride price, sponsor wedding ceremony and take care of in-laws just to have a woman who was fvcked by another man in her best state ( virgin) with just two eggs and indomie if you are not sordid?

We face our hustle squarely without waiting for the government to put food on our table

Sebi some of una wan dey drag politics discussion instead of channeling same energy on how to turn things around.

And before anybody go shout government, may be the person's progress and success in life are tied with government
What are you saying, for God's sakes??!?? Even with the hustle people are doubling and "facing squarely", the harsh economic environment has made making a profit in business almost impossible. Even when you make the money, everything is swallowed up because of the inflation bringing the country to her knees.

The domino effects of inflation are what is reflecting in every sector of the economy. The cost of living has tripled while people's spending power remains stagnant, thereby pushing more and more citizens closer to the poverty line. Is it our job to turn things around or for the government to create an enabling environment for business to thrive?? What about insecurity? Corruption? The very frail naira? The crippling cost of fuel?? HELINUES, WHAT THE ACTUAL FVCK ARE YOU SAYING??!

Stop defending the indefensible. It is callous and infuriating.
