Foreign Affairs / Re: What Gaddafi's Death Means To Africa! by ishow2005(m): 5:42pm On Oct 20, 2011 |
"Kampala 'mute' as Gaddafi falls," is how the opposition paper summed up the mood of this capital the morning after. Whether they mourn or celebrate, an unmistakable sense of trauma marks the African response to the fall of Gaddafi. Both in the longevity of his rule and in his style of governance, Gaddafi may have been extreme. But he was not exceptional. The longer they stay in power, the more African presidents seek to personalise power. Their success erodes the institutional basis of the state. The Carribean thinker C L R James once remarked on the contrast between Nyerere and Nkrumah, analysing why the former survived until he resigned but the latter did not: "Dr Julius Nyerere in theory and practice laid the basis of an African state, which Nkrumah failed to do." The African strongmen are going the way of Nkrumah, and in extreme cases Gaddafi, not Nyerere. The societies they lead are marked by growing internal divisions. In this, too, they are reminiscent of Libya under Gaddafi more than Egypt under Mubarak or Tunisia under Ben Ali. I did some stat on the results on excel and i realised the highest score was 86 from one Adeyefa going for Economics followed by 83 for Adeyemo going for edu mgt. Out of the 2,363 invited, between 180-200 scored 0 probably cos they were absent or something. Also out of the 2,363, 174 candidates scored over 70. I also did the stat for FACULTY OF LAW, law and this is what i have from highest score to lowest, I have only the candidates surnames and their score AYENI 81 EKPE 80 KAYODE 79 IKUMELO 77 LONGE 77 OBARO 76 OKIEMUTE 76 OMOBITAN 76 AYOLOLA 75 ELEMIDE 74 ILORI 74 MUDELE 74 OBI 74 ONWUKWE 74 ATILOLA 72 AWOSIKA 72 EGBOKHARE 72 IKEAKANAM 72 ALLI 71 OLUMEKOR 70 OMOTAYO 70 ADEWOLE 69 BABATUNDE 69 OKORO 69 ONAYEMI 69 ZUBAIR 68 BAMISILE 67 JOEL 67 OSUNLETI 67 TOLORUNLEKE 66 AKINWOLEMIWA 65 OBIOHA 65 OLU-OWOLABI 65 ONWUEGBU 64 AFOLABI 63 LABO-POPOOLA 63 OGWUCHE 63 ADELEKE 62 MAKINDE 62 OKONKWO 62 OLAOYE 62 ADEBOYE 61 ALLI 61 AYOADE 60 ADELUSI 58 ADEYI 58 OBILOR 58 OLADEJO 58 OPARAJI 58 UWAZIE 58 MUSTAPHA 56 OGUNTOYE 51 OSOSANYA 50 ADELUGBA 45 NRIALIKE 42 BASHORUN 35 ADENIYI-AKINTOLA 0 AJIBADE 0 AKEMU 0 ALAGBE 0 ARIKEKPAR 0 AYODELE 0 DUROJAYE 0 FATUNKE 0 MOGAJI 0 NWOGU 0 ODUOLA 0 OGUNDARE 0 OLANIPEKUN 0 |

Education / Re: University Of Ibadan Info On 1st Choice Supplementary And Others by ishow2005(m): 3:00pm On Sep 23, 2011 |
This info is pulled from ui website, it is for 1st choice supplementary candidates, 2nd choice, change of course and DE students and those that wrote the last post ume of ui and score above 50% 2011/2012 Undergraduate Admissions Exercise Modalities for 2nd Choice, Change of Course/Supplementary and Direct Entry The modalities for the completion of the 2011/2012 Undergraduate Admissions Exercise are as follows: First Choice Supplementary candidates’ online submissions were pulled down on 9 September 2011. Candidates whose weighted scores (50:50) are not less than the merit cut–off mark e.g. MBBS –- 80.4, are to be invited for the October Post–UTME examination. They are also implored to log in for “Change of Course” (#6 below) so as to fully benefit from the available concessions. Online submissions of biodata & results by 2nd Choice candidates and 1st & 2nd choice candidates for Change of Course / Supplementary Admission are to be done simultaneously. Bona fide 2nd Choice Candidates can log-in as soon as the 2nd Choice list is received from JAMB. The list of courses available for Change of Course has been advertised on the U.I. website, based on the available quotas that are yet to be filled. Links http://anythinginformations..com/2011/09/university-of-ibadan-update-on-change.html#axzz1YmfhjXS5 ALL candidates who chose the University of Ibadan as their 1st and/or 2nd Choice MOST PREFERRED INSTITUTION are eligible to apply for “Change of Course”, using their usernames and passwords. They are expected to indicate their preferred courses (1st & 2nd) in the appropriate spaces provided for “Change of Course” submissions. 2nd Choice Candidates are expected to enter their Change of Course details with their 2nd Choice submissions. However, preference will be given to ‘2nd Choice course’ over the ‘Change of Course choice (1st)’, in short listing candidates for the October Post-UTME Examination. Change of Course will be possible for two categories of 1st Choice Most Preferred Candidates:- (a) August 29th Post-UTME candidates with scores not below 50% could apply for advertised courses, for which their UTME & O’ Level results are appropriate, since these candidates cannot be examined twice. For example, Law candidates with scores below the “1st batch cut-off mark” of 73% (i.e. 72% - 50%). (b) Candidates who were not invited for the August Exercise could apply for Change of Course. The “2nd preferred course of choice” (#4 above) would serve as a fall-back position if the cut-off mark (UI post-UTME score) for the 1st preferred course is higher than the candidate’s score (e.g. 1st – English, 2nd – Classics). Online submissions of biodata and results by 1st Choice candidates for change of course (#6 above) have commenced and will end on Saturday 25th September 2011. Final selection for ALL academic programs will be purely on MERIT, from the August and October Post-UTME lists of candidates for each academic program. When vacancies still exist in a particular program, the 2nd preferred course (#7 above) list of candidates is then considered. This will ensure that candidates from both lists (August & October) with the highest scores are selected. The last ‘Post-UTME’ examination for the 2011 Admissions exercise is tentatively scheduled for early October 2011. Online submissions of biodata and results by Direct Entry candidates commenced on Friday 16th September 2011. Direct Entry candidates will be processed and finalized with the conclusion of the UTME exercise, to ensure that the Senate approved quota for ALL academic programs is strictly adhered to. ALL prospective candidates for the October 2011 Post – UTME Screening Exercise MUST LOG IN AFRESH to http://www.admissions.ui.edu.ng and submit their biodata and results, either as 2nd Choice or Change of Course candidates, within the specified period advertised on the UI website. |

@abbey93, i will advice you dont do that and i will advice that you think twice before changing so as not to miss the change of course admission option. Try and seek for advice and i will advice that you change to a course that you have a +10 difference atleast from your present mark compare to the course present cut off as all the cut off will increase after the change of course is out. Religion / Pastor Defiles 12-year-old Girl In Church by ishow2005(m): 11:09pm On Sep 03, 2011 |
Uromi (Edo State) : The police in Edo have arrested a pastor who allegedly raped a 12-year-old choir member of his church at Afuda-Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of the state. The incident incurred the wrath of some residents around the area, who destroyed some church equipment, while the pastor was detained at the Uromi Police Divisional headquarters. Narrating her ordeal to newsmen on Thursday, the rape victim said she had gone to church for choir rehearsals when the incident occurred. She said she and three other children were in the church, awaiting the arrival of other members, when the pastor and founder of the church drove into the premises in his Mercedes Benz car, and started enquiring about their names. She said after they had given their names, the pastor called her into his office and asked her to sit on his laps. While on his laps, the victim alleged that the pastor began to suck her breast and dipped his finger into her private part. She added that she felt severe pains in her stomach, and consequently struggled to regain her freedom. The incident, she alleged, also caused her to bleed as a result of the injuries she sustained. The father of the victim, Mr Lawrence Okoduwa, an operator of a rental service, told newsmen that he and his family became members of the church barely two months ago. He noted with regret that joining the church had caused him pains, because he never expected that his daughter could undergo such unfortunate experience. Okoduwa appealed to government and the police to ensure that justice was done in the case to serve as a deterrent to other randy pastors. He alleged that the suspect, who told him he was merely carrying out deliverance on his daughter, was arrested and later released on bail by the police. The Chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Esan North East Local Government Area chapter, Rev. Francis Okhai, confirmed that the matter had been reported to the PFN, to which the alleged rapist pastor belongs. He said several cases of misconduct had earlier been reported against the pastor, but that it was the first time that allegation of rape was reported. Okhai added that disciplinary action would be taken against the pastor if found wanting “in the abominable act, because the PFN does not condone any misconduct from its members”. He said the pastor had, however, denied the allegation when questioned by some PFN officials. The Divisional Police headquarters at Uromi, a police officer, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the arrest of the pastor. (NAN) |
