And this fool wants to be or is already a politician? God please have mercy on us. |
Good on the beggars. Our so called leaders can no longer be allowed to cozy up in their expensive homes bought with our money while the led are dying in silence. There is no employment for people but they have needs just like all of us. If the law enforcement agents just turned up to move them on without showing them where else they could go and find shelter and food while they get their lives together. I am not condoning laziness but it is about time someone speaks up for the under privileged in our society. No rest for the wicked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
it is very sad that in all of these ethnic madness no one has talked about competence and credibility. Shame on our leaders. |
I have read many offensive and distasteful comments in this forum but not one like Phantom's on this occasion. To the on line editor i must say that i am very disappointed that you allowed this. There is nothing wrong with people sniping at one another if that is what makes them happy although i do not buy into the idea. However is is grossly offensive and highly disgraceful for anyone to extend that sort of comment to someone Else's parent or parents. I am afraid that the description of someone Else's mother no matter who as "rabid LovePeddler" is wholly unacceptable and i recommend that the on line editor must reprimand phantom or suspend him for a while. His behaviour on his occasion is gross and highly distasteful in every respect. There is no need for it. it is extremely low low low. Period!!!!!!!!!! |
Ivynwa is right. i love the opportunity to have a go but i am always shocked to read all be abuses. |
Victory for common sense. this was long overdue. |
I am most disappointed at this character called Ibori. I am one person who believes in the rule of law but on this occasion i am finding it really hard to understand what the matter is with ibori and feel like telling him to go jump into the ocean. |
Tufiakwa. This is aru (abomination) all points taken but a thief is always a thief and it will not be right to let him carry on thiefing or leaving off his immoral earnings because other people have yet to be caught and prosecuted. No we have to stat from somewhere. His prosecution, conviction and long imprisonment should sound a big warning shot to any criminal who think that he can hide his criminal past and then get into politics to steal the nation blind. Failure yo prosecute people like ibori will only but promote and encourage poor behaviour by public servant and continue to tarnish the reputation of Nigeria to the disadvantage of many peace loving and honest Nigerians. We must allow justice to be done for the better future of Nigeria. And once again people, there is no need getting personal. If anyone thinks that ibori is a beautiful honest bride then that's their opinion. if on the other hand someone thinks that he is a great armed robber whose head must be chopped off, again that is still their opinion. The final decision of who we are rests with the court on earth and God when we die. So let us keep it civilised and classy!!!!! No more gutter language or tribalm remarks please. whether we like it or not we are all Nigerians thanks to Lord lugard and his co British colleagues. |
Ivnwa wh not put in your application? Nothing ventured nothing gained. If you are a northerner ou are likely to get it. Onn a different note i think that they should offer it to a woman like Dora Akunyili, Okonjo Iwuala or a little unkown woman who has the ability to make the difference. I personally think that our politicans need sensible women in theior ranks in order to take Nigeria forward. Nigeria needs a female touch and that of someone as radical as Dora to kick start our economy. I pray and hope that they will put away tribal sentiments and give the job to the best man or woman regardless of where they may come from. |
££Victor££ your cartoon completely captures this sadisadistic. GAAAAAWWWWWK!! I want to puke? when you read the articles and comments without seeing the senator and the child holding hands as a copucouple are simply filled with anger, shock and horror but when you see something slightly near enough to the sad situation, you feel like dying because it drives home the whole truth of the situation. God please help us and get this guy nailed. Again All the senators who attended and witnessed this prelude to a catacatastrophicse of an innoInnocentld without leaving immediately and calling the police on Yerima should be ashamed forever. |
Kudos also to newmusic. You are damn right. Racism and tribalism are sheer ignorance and unless we consider ourselves ignorant or want to be seen as such we must desist from them, Again for those who hold Ojukwu in high esteem you must appreciate that the man is old and can sometimes say things which may be odd given his position in the Igbo society. I love and respect the man for his foresight. However, read some rather (in my own view classified ) documents about the Nigerian Biafran war, I sometimes have my doubts about his sincerity and selflessness. To some extent one can easily conclude that we igbos lost so many lives out of Ojukwu's selfishness and int risingency. He should have stopped when it became obvious that we were not going to win and lacked powerful international support and not wait as long as he did for our people to perish. But what do i know only God knows the full gist and the men Gowon and Ojibwa may never tell the full truth. keep well guys |
kudos to Osama10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you and ijaw girl are always pointblank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Frosbel your views are every, honest, sensible and God fearing man with morals' view. Mistakay, you may disagree with me but i think that we must not use religious or tribal sentiments to trivialise a very despicable act which we must all frankly condemn as it offends decency, common sense, morality and natural justice. Clearly if the allegations are true Yerima has used his ill gotten money to exploit the poverty of this poor girl's parents in order to feed his perversion. If i have a say, the pervert must be sectioned, castrated and put in an asylum. He is a danger to young girls, humanity and the reputation of Nigeria. i agree with ijaw girl completely. My apologies mistake but if you still disagree with me or remain sentimental about this man's heinous act then i regret to say that you are inadvertently supporting evil, crime against a child and therefore promoting ignorance and child abuse contrary to common sense, fairness and justice. I believe that this man must have been doing so many bad things against children and women and this is just his undoing by God and we must support law enforcement agencies in bringing him to justice. In the olden days in Ibo land parents used to pay dowry for young girls for their sons to marry when they become of age. They did not take such girls home until they reached the right lawful age to marry. |
Not really. I would consider being like Obama and his wife. sadly though i am not as eductaed as them. This is a very interesting topic. Can't wait to see what people will do. |
A very shocking and distressing situation. I am so angry with our government. although all efforts must be channeled towards getting them a reprieve, i must hasten to say without any doubt in my mind that the Indonesian government could not care about these brothers because they know that our government don't care about us. The question on my mind is what the hell are my people going to Indonesia and why? Obviously the poor situation of things in Nigeria culminating in the absolute respect of the citizens by the ruling class is forcing us to seek greener pastures in places where even the devil will fear to go. I hate to pour scorns on people but i must say that if our Representatives do nothing and these brothers are executed, their blood and the hardships of all their families and generations will be on their heads and they will never know peace in their own lives. This is not a time for delays or GMG before i act attitude. I once arrived a destination with an American citizen who was denied entry and rather arrested at an airport. he refused to submit to arrest without seeing his ambassador. one simple call to his embassy they were there threatening hell, stone and thunder and this applies to Britain. so why not us Nigerians, are the lives of these people worth more than ours? I am really really angered and will email any member of the house of rep and senate plus some human rights groups after this. |
A very interesting development. Does anyone know the geographical mass of the north and south? I have no reason to object to a fair sensible and honest creation of further states. However, i am quite keen to ensure that states are not being created out of a population of ten thousand people in the north or south whereas east and west where the population is over flowing and genuinely need new states are neglected. It is pointless getting 5000 people and giving them the status of a state while 1 million people in the other part of the country are bunched up and surviving on the same revenue as the state with 500 people. Nigeria belongs to us all and creation of states plus allocation and distribution of our assets and revenue must be equitable. on a lighter note, i agree with the idea of a nairaland state. That will be awesome because it will be made up of people with character, intellect and common values. that will be the very begininning of true, genuine and lasting democracy in Nigeria. I suggest that we move a motion for this and forward it to the house of reps and senate. Opinions please. |
In addition to my earlier post, yarimas reference to the quaran amounts to sinning and abusing a child in the name of Allah. Can we all just condemn this act. It could be our sisters and daughters tomorrow and if we do nothing very soon some of these crazy self styled politicians will begin to take suckling babies from their mums. |
I have just read section 29(4) of the Constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 and regret to say that unless the minsiter for women affairs has any information which confirms that the girl is 18, then her reference to that section and reliance of the Senate or House of Reps to avoid absolute and collective condemnation of yarima's conduct, amounts to a monuemental misconstruction of our constitution. Althoough i am aware that as Obasanjo said, these reps are entitled to have advisers but are not under a duty to accept or act on their advice, i think that the honourable minister should have sought the advice and guidance of her legal adviser before making any such statement. clearly her comments has approbated yarima's unlawful act. For the avoidance of doubt Section 29(4) states as follows: "for the purposes of subsection 91) of this section (a) "full age" means age of 18 and above (b) any woman who is married should be deemed to be of that age. In my opinion, the use of the words married and deemed are ambigouous but must not be a problem as the senate has a duty to give it a purposeful interpretation and pronounce the age of marriage to be 18 in accordance with common sense and our constitution. (reference to "this section" relates to subsection 1 of section 29). |
I do not know what to believe but if this news is true, I can only advice Jonathan to follow his own heart. Obasanjo's sense of judgement is unsound and highly questionable. He decided to impose yaradua on Nigeria and look where that got the poor man and nigeria. therefore in light of his (Obasanjo's) antecedents, i think that every sensible nigerian must stay away from him and his do or die selection style. iwu to count but a few and ignoring Bode george is his creation and so also many others like him. |
though i know that i am not tribalistic and hate and comdemn tribalism completely, come to think about things, it is true that all inec chairmen many have been from the south east. given this, it might be a good idea to try someone from the north, south or west of nigeria on the proviso that such a person is only being selected because they are intelligent, patriotic, credible and committed to taking forward our democracy without fear or favour. One person i must urge jonathan to stay away from is mrs Adejumo who conducted the ekiti elections and ran away for the reasons she claimed only to return and announce the same results she claimed that her conscience would not allow her to announce. Next victim certainly will be Ogbulafor. Wonder what the 28 governors will do when this happens. Democracy in Nigeria will transcend to a new height with the departure of these men and a few others like them. We want change and change we must have. And now too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 |
well said papillo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Hi folks, May i express my gratitude to all of you for taking the time to express your vies on the topics in this forrum. That said may i also appeal to you to keep down or if i have my way complete drop personal attacks, rude, foul, offensive languages?I believe that we are desperate for change and change of the type Obama said has come to America during his swearing in ceremony. I do not personally think that anyone would take us seriously if they see the level of the expletives in some of our comments or personal attacks on one another. That type of language or behaviour can only but reassure people that they can divided and rule us because we do not love or respect one another. Love for us from others can only be achieved if we show love and respect for one another. there is a job to be done with shell and BP stealing our oil and using and abusing us. United we can do this job and disunited and verbally violent to one another we are, they will win and we will continue to fail. Think about this deeply and lest shake on it think together for the future of our country. YES WE CAN! I love you all. |
I must applaud the women for their passion to change things in Nigeria and completely condemn the abominable conduct of this child molester dressed as a lawmaker. I am not sure how he can sit there and call himself a lawmaker. I bet that he would not allow his own child to marry at such a young age sharia law or not. This event brings to the fore the need for urgent debate about the poor representation of women in both houses of parliament. I believe that if we have at least the expected 38% of women Representatives in both houses another 20% men will join them in repealling any law which gives any man the right to molest a child and get away with it. i was so appalled to read about the consequences of young girls having children or sex so early in life and feel like vomitting at the thought of this man thinking that such conduct is good and can be condoned in today's world. the reps should not only table a motion for the investigation of his conduct but also his impeachment, prosecution for paedophilia and imprisonment too. He is an incredibly insane, self demeaning and ignorant man and should not be anywhere near any political office. Infact his family must have his head examined. |
may God rest everyone soul.whilst not wishing to be seen as condoning such reckless inhumane act of wickedness of man again his fellow men, folks i regret to say that our government has a lot to answer for this mayhem.Unless and until they begin to see the effect of their various blatant display of ill gotten wealth and culture of ostentatious living and impunity, we will never be safe on our streets and homes. I mean how can anyone explain that someone as poor as me will over night have an aircraft, live in high security house and travel in convoy of armoured vehicles and mopol because someone has made me a politician because i was possibly his henchman while many smart intelligent young men and women who have masters degrees etc have been looking for work without any success or hope. How can anyone convince them that it is good to be good? If they cannot be politicians and become rich over night they may perhaps become Hench men, 419ners or armed robbers. therefore a word of advice for our politicians, address the root causes of crime in Nigeria by creating employment opportunities for our young people and giving them hope in the future. we all have needs I |
Absolute propagation of ignorance and utter denigration of women. I am grossly appalled. I wonder who these promicuous women are messing about with. themsleves, men or animals? what about the men who caused them to become so recklessly promiscuous? may be it is their right to be so? I am ashamed that this cleric may be a spiritual mentor to anybody. Sorry women do not be offfended. There are still so many ignorant people in our world but we all know that it takes two to tango. |
sorry folks my last post tripped off before i could review. Please forgive me i meant "found him not guilty". instead of found him guilty. He was not found guilty because he has big shots behind him. Hopefully all that will change at some point. I pray that other people will learn from his plight. I see george Bush, clinton, blair etc enjoying time outside politics after proper service to their country but my people are always docking and diving. i agree with some of the commentators who thought that these people should be locked up for good. That may be a good warning shot to potential thieves. i could not stop laughing when i read the post where someone said he will arrest him with a slap. they deserve whatever come their way. |
This is a very embarrassing development for the judiciary. I was shocked when the Asaba bench found him guilty on all 74 counts. I thought what a shame but left him to time. Ibori supporters will see him end up like OJ simpson. I was sick to the pit of my stomach when i read in one of the dailies today that some women were protesting "stakis" against the warrant for Ibori's arrest. That is so embarrassing and i think that those women should be sorry for themselves. Since when did it become right to protect a criminal and destroy the nation? If it is indeed true that he was so greedy and silly to have stolen so much money from his own people, then why must the same people who have been robbed be protesting against his warrant? Corruption has become so endemic in our society that many people now are thankful to be given what belongs to them by the people who should be serving them but who are instead stealing from them. Well let us see how far Ibori should run before he is caught and extradited to England. If i were him i would give myself up and be extradited to England where i understand that the conditions are fantastic. I can't imagine what angry prisoners will do to him if he gets in there. Well lets see what happens. God bless Nigeria. |
Well this has been long in the pipeline. My only worry is that it will soon go away and we will never hear of it again. Lets see what happens. I was quite shocked when it was reported that he bought a house for i think N400m in Abuja. Many Nigerians including me asked him to tell us the source of his money but nothing came of it. Some PDP members including the so called governors some of whom i think are down right crazy spoke up for him claiming that he has a privileged background. Again when he overruled members of his party during the Anambra primaries and imposed a candidate on them after taking their expressions of interest money and application fees i thought that one of the candidates should have dragged him and his errant party to court but no one did. That is Nigeria for you. In my mind this man is untouchable. lets see what may change with Jonathan coming to power.God bless Nigeria. I feel privileged to be Nigeria. I saw a car sticker once in Jamaica which read" i love my country it is the government that i am afraid of" |
