emmaodet: Then why still holding the stock if it has failed your fundamental analysis? The core reason you bought it since you wrote it rubished your valuation The fundamentals are still in place Its the market sentiment that is not favourable. The company's most recent quarterly financial was okay. Fantastic profit growth and EPS number. It reinforced the cheap valuation. My point is that, the market is selling instead of buying (negative market sentiment) Iskalamong! . . |

ositadima1: I get your point, but you’re not seeing where I’m coming from. According to him, he invested in 2021, and by 2023 he himself showed us that his stock portfolio was over ₦300 million, the posts are here, I’m not guessing. If his convictions were as strong as he’s claiming today, he would have increased that position to at least ₦1 million. In 2023 the stock was still relatively cheap. He could have sold stocks that had peaked or added more from dividends.
Now he comes here claiming he ‘always knew’ it would turn out like this, after the fact. What I’m saying is: the reason he didn’t add to the position all this while is because, consciously or unconsciously, he was weighting it down due to perceived risk compared to his other holdings. I agree with you. For a bet on a cheap stock, 1% of one's portfolio is small enough. In this case that would be c.1 million naira for a 100 million naira portfolio. And in Nigeria, we tend to be aggressive. Thus, having a stock that is 10% or more of one's portfolio is common place. Especially with experienced traders/investors. In a nutshell, if he is convinced that the stock will rise he shouldn't be using less than 0.25% on the stock. That is more like a random or speculative bet that one can easily forgo even if it turns to zero. Regards, Iskalamong! . . |

EDUECO: It is not possible because ACCESSCORP will definately pay 2025 full year dividend. Accesscorp did not pay interim this year. If they miss final dividend next year, then N15 is a possibilty. Especially as next year is pre-election year (historically bearish). Also, when you consider that fact that Accesscorp dropped below N16 last year amid the recapitalisation saga, you'll see that N15 is not too much a big of a deal should the company's performance miss expectations in an unexcited market. FY' 2025 results will also have an important role to play as well as the early 2026 quarterly results. . . |

ositadima1: Yeah, some people tell stories to feel good, I do that sometimes. But you can still make outsized returns by using strategies and models; that’s a fact. The market has hidden patterns you can exploit to make money. So yes, on average, people do make money. I’m living proof, and there are many others here who don’t talk about their wins at all, so you never hear about them. In the Nigerian market, its hard not to make money if youre patient. Buy good companies. At good valuations. If you dont know valuations, check chart, buy on pullbacks. Once you do this, youre good. For example: MTNN hit N200 plus. There was a pull back. It hit c.270 or so. There was a pull back. It crosses N300. There was a even more serious pull back. Now, it has crossed N500. Good stocks/Fundamentally solid stocks tend to be on an uptrend over the long term. The strategy is to buy then on pullbacks and give it time (sell during bulls/rallies). You'll be fine. The points he made are solid, just not strong enough, which is why he hasn’t been adding to his position all this while. It’s like having a strong feeling that Manchester City will beat Fulham based on certain indicators, but you’re still not fully sure, so you bet responsibly, lol. I will digress a little. I think one has to invest responsibly when it comes to investments that are Marked to Market (MTM). This is because it affects the investor or traders psychology. In my opinion, it may be the reason many shy away from investing in risky assets like stocks. Unlike investments in illiquid assets like real estate or properties. The daily prices are not published. You simply buy, hold, revalue after a reasonable time and then sell. No daily MTM pressure. Cheers Iskalamong! . . |

pluto09: It is the kind of narrative that makes people believe they can just buy any stock and make money once they can wait it out . It is nothing but pure luck That applies to Nigeria though. You see such stocks appreciating significantly during bulls. However, in developed markets, such companies could go bankrupt or lose 90% of their values overnight e.t.c. They are extremely risky. I think the reason for that is the fact that you can take short position easily and there is high liquidity. Here (on the NGX), its all long with very little or no shorts. Hence, you might easily get away with buying them blindly (most times). Cheers! Iskalamong! |

Mankind2024: My brother, the NSEMPA no1 impatient and arrogant trader, thank you for the free publicity and for giving me the opportunity to clear the air once and for all.
1. “Negative shareholders’ funds and a failing business model” - In Feb 2021, NCR had negative equity of about –N1.2bn. That’s public information. - What is also public information is that the company had over N8bn in installed base contracts (maintenance of ATMs, POS, and self-service kiosks across banks and oil companies), contracts that renew every 3–5 years almost automatically. - I saw a situation where the market was pricing a 130-year-old technology franchise with monopoly-like service contracts as if it was heading for liquidation… for N180m market cap. That’s not a “failing business model.” That’s the bargain of the decade.
2. “Why only N170k? That doesn’t show confidence.” - In 2021 I was a salary earner, struggling with life and family responsibilities. N170k was part of my liquid net worth at the time — exactly the position size I allocate to my highest-conviction ideas when they are this depressed. - Confidence is not measured by how much you bet when something is already obvious to everyone. Real conviction is measured by how much you are willing to allocate when literally nobody else sees it. - Today that N170k is worth N3.635 million. I sleep very well with that “small” conviction.
3. “You only got 20x in 4–5 years while people who bought at the 52-week low got 18x in one year — so it’s luck.” - People who bought at the 52-week low in early 2025 paid between N4 and N6. They are enjoying the ride now, and I’m genuinely happy for them. - But let’s be honest: in early 2025, the turnaround was already visible to anyone who cared to read the 2024 results and the H1 2025 numbers. The stock had started moving. It was no longer invisible. - I bought when the company was still bleeding, when the chart was flat for four years, when the average daily volume was sometimes 200 shares, when people on this same forum were calling it “dead money, Iliquid stock.” - That’s not luck. That’s buying when fear was maximum and facts were minimum.
4. “Paint the full picture so people can learn.” - The full picture is simple: I looked for a company with: (a) a moat (service contracts that competitors can’t easily take), (b) a tiny market cap relative to its installed base, (c) a share count that made a future re-rating mathematically explosive (108 million units), and (d) zero chance of permanent capital loss because the business would still be needed even if it crawled along for another decade. - I didn’t need 2025 results to see that. Everything I needed was already there in 2021 for anyone willing to read beyond the headline loss.
Finally, I have never claimed to be a genius like you. I just refused to complicate what is painfully simple: buy great (or decent) businesses when nobody wants them, do nothing, and let time work.
If waiting 4–5 years for 20x (so far) while collecting zero dividends and watching red headlines every quarter is “luck,” then I pray every member of this forum continues to enjoy such terrible luck.
To everyone else reading: the next NCR is already on the NGX today — trading at N5–N15, negative equity, zero volume, and plenty of people calling it trash. You don’t need luck. You only need the stomach to be early and the patience to be quiet.
God bless you all. And thank you again, the arrogant trader, for bumping my post to the top. Much appreciated. 🙏🏾 You can share the stock with the house. Its an open market. We can all win. Cheers Iskalamong . . |

Locotrader: Psychological support for ASI is 145,000 Let's see if it will be actualized in the coming days. My take,if 145k holds strong,we will see 150k level by 31st December. This is what I pray for.
Currently sitting at 143k.If this 143k is broken,we may see support at 138k.At this level,we may be in for a longer beers(days of no activities) In my opinion, the ASI is reflective of what the largest companies do. For instance, Airtelafri remains very cheap compared to its LSE counterpart (AAF LN). In the event of a serious bear in low cap and mid caps (and stability in high caps). In Nigeria, many high caps can be fully offered without a price change. In a bearish day, if Airtel (and one or two more large cap) rises significantly, the ASI would behave as though the market is slightly bullish. In a nutshell, my point is that the ASI may not be reflective of the broad market performace and should not be use for broad market analysis. One love sir Cheers! Iskalamong! . . |

However, I did not expect Oando to decline when the correction happens. For this reason, Oando is the only stock I am holding with my full chest. Its performance has been a shocker to me (and my portfolio). The reasons I bought it when I was closing other positions are as follows: 1. Strong growth potential (driven by acquisitions and political moats) 2. Very cheap valuation. This combined with no 1 above is a recipe for multibagger performance. 3. Proposed equity capital raise at N50. Using banks as precedents, a rally may occur (e.g fidelity, GTCO, e.t.c. with price appreciation of more than 100% post capital raise. 4. mikeapollo: Don't be too optimistic or too sure. The CGT issue is not yet permanently resolved with certainty, and that Taiwo guy may say something again that would disrupt the market once more. Analysts give reasons for everything. If the market rallies, People/investors want to know why. Thus, analysts provide them with why and vice versa when bearish. The market is actually overextended as it has rallied for long. It is normal for the market to experience a pullback. When this happens, people ask why, and whatever is trending at the moment is provided as the reason. A technical analyst wont even be bothered with what is happening now. Markets simply rise and fall (Whether bear or bull). In a bull market, you see higher highs while the reverse is the case in a bear market. For me, this correction should have happened a few months before. That way, we would have been seeing recovery now which would/should metamorphose into a full santa claus rally towards the end of the year. Back to the matter, the CGT is really an issue. However, it is not the main reason for the markets present lacklustre performance. Cheers Islalamong! . . |

GeneralDae: I disagree. 2023/2024 harvest season still had food inflation rising for the most part although increase in PMS prices from 650 to over 1000 in October/November 2024 contributed to the rising food inflation then. Nevertheless, even in March/April 2025, there was no real spike in food inflation. This has more to do with a stable naira and other monetary policies as well as stable energy prices. You may be right. Some findings suggest that there is a correlation between the exhange rate and Naira commodity prices. leo1234: I only pity those that sold valued stock because of their noises. It is not always straight forward. For example: institutional traders often have stop losses. Once the stock price hits this level, they cut their loss. Successful traders (and short term investors) should also incorporate stop losses because it helps to check emotions. Having and following stop losses also make one to time the market. You just don’t buy anyhow or FOMO as you like since you know there is a stop loss. You want a good entry price with a low chance of hitting your stop loss. This helps to maximize returns and reduce risk. Stop losses also save in times of serious bear markets eg during covid, the global financial crisis etc. In this cases, using a stop loss helps preserve your capital for subsequent entries at better prices. On the flip side, I agree that it can make one sell at the bottom (if the price decline is only a bull market correction). This way one might buy back at higher prices or completely miss out of potential gains. Cheers! Iskalamong! . . |

leo1234: The market is tricky. The eventual winners are those who hold valued stock for long period of time.
Ordinary investors should leave price swings for traders (gamblers). It is extremely difficult to time the market accurately. You are on point. However, timing the market helps to maximize returns. Hence the “buy low, sell high” mantra. It is an essential part of investing/trading. However, I agree that trying to time the bottom or top is quite difficult. Hence the saying “buy low, sell high” and not “ buy lowest, sell highest”. This is where technical investment/trading skills come in. E.g fundamental analysis, valuation, technical analysis etc. All in, while it is difficult to know or predict the top or bottom, it is crucial to be able to tell a cheap stock from an expensive stock. This helps in maximizing returns. Like you rightly said, the effect of timing the market reduces the longer the holding period and the faster the growth of the company (stock). For example: Regardless of timing, those that bought stocks like CWG, NAHCO, TIP etc some three to five years ago would be in serious money by now even if they didn’t time the market at the time of the purchase. This is why Warren Buffet said it is better to buy a great company at a fair price. Over time, that fair price paid will seem very cheap due to the significant capital appreciation. I am new to the thread. It would be nice learning from everyone here. Cheers Iskalamong! . . . |

rajput4real93: Good day everyone. I'm new here and I'm undecided on which stock to invest in among Aradel, Seplat, and Eternaoil. I'm a long-term investor. Please, I need your honest advice. Thank you. My recommendation would be to invest in both Seplat and Aradel. In my opinion, you can leave out Eterna. Justifications: 1. Solid companies 2. Good growth prospects 3. Consistent and growing (especially Aradel) dividend payouts 4. Forex earnings (this serves as a hedge against currency/naira depreciation) 5. In the case of seplat, the dual listing on the LSE tends to support its price on the NGX. Risk considerations: 1. Potential decline in crude prices in the coming years. This may be offset by increased crude oil production by the companies. 2. Share prices are not stable and are susceptible to bear markets and potential losses. All in, carry out your due diligence and always remember that investment in equities are risky and susceptible to potential capital losses. All the best! Iskalamong! . . . |

Girlee: I'm just not in the mood so I won't be telling much stories...
Last year, depression almost killed me if not for the saving grace of God. I wrote jamb, scored 225. Took delta state university's post utme form and scored 68. I wasn't admitted. As I so much didn't want to stay at home for another year, I called my dad and asked him to send me money for a change of institute, he declined. He was like "abeg! Wait for another year, I nor get shi shi". Yeah, I know he's not a literate but I expected that he knew the value of education but he doesn't.
I cried my eyes out for months and had to take up a job as a waitress so i could afford this year's jamb reg fee. I took jamb again and scored 212. All glory to God because I never prepared. I worked from 8am till 10pm and sometimes till 11pm. My boss then even turned me to a dish washer. Salary was 20k. 20k that my dad can pay me monthly but he was okay with that.
Okay... I'm broke and jobless now because I want to prepare well for my upcoming Uniben's post utme. I asked him for just 2,500 to buy past question but this was his reply: "2,500 for wetin? I nor get oo. E be like you go relax and try again next year or just wait make you mature then you marry".
I shouted at him until I lost my voice, I cried and I'm like God why?? So sorry for what you're going through. This may not be of much help but kindly note that everyone living with their parents especially those of your age bracket have similar experiences. Please endure, do not consider running from home. That would be a reckless decision. With regards to your admission, many schools are not transparent with their admission requirements (and cut-off marks). But for a competitive course like yours, (nursing) and in a top tier Nigerian school (UNIBEN), the least you should aim for is 70% (a rough estimate) both in Jamb and Post Jamb (dont know if its still called this). That translates into a Jamb score of 280/400 (70%) or higher. This likely explains the reason you're not gaining admission as you have scored less than this in your previous attempt(s). (If you need more clarity on this, please ask, I'll gladly explain). Going by this, it may be necessary to change your course to one that would be easier for admission purpose or work extremely hard to attain those high scores in subsequent exams. Another alternative is to try and change your course if you fail to secure admission. To do this successfully, you have to do your best to be informed about all of the admission processes so that important information do not pass you by. With this, I guess I have elucidated on the likely reason youre not gaining admission. If you have more questions, please quote this response or mention me. I'll be glad to help. Take good care of yourself. God loves you! Your dad loves you as well. Best regards, Iskalamong! |

Phones › Re: What Are The Pros And Cons Of Rooted Phones by iskalamong(m): 11:53am On Feb 28, 2023 |
PAQ: Rooting makes you a SuperUser and removes all restrictions and the inbuilt security Android provides, its like removing all the margins and lines of an exercise book leaving you with plain white paper for you to scribble as you wish.
It comes with advantages & disadvantages but if you are not tech savvy, developer or mobile security expert its best to avoid rooting. A small mistake will render a rooted phone useless because all protections & restrictions are off cos you now have access to system files which you may not understand.
ADVANTAGES: 1. Full customisation; from boot screen to custom recovery to a custom rom and total redesign of your homescreen. If you dont understand the terminology i used then avoid rooting until well read! 2. Downgrade/upgrade Android Os or installing custom roms that add more functions and or tweaks. 3. Rooting will allow you alter or remove restrictions on some apps and also install some outdated/banned/region blocked apps. 4. It allows you to modify or instal modified/tweaked kernels and governors. 5. You can undervolt or overclock the processor of the phone. I undervolt to save battery life, then change governors. This was one of my major reasons for rooting back in the day when phones came with small batteries. To be honest most people dont need all that power in our phones that causes over heating and battery drain. 6. With rooting you can improve camera quality by installing third party cameras, google camera, or modify init.d scripts. 7. It allows for changing of imei, which is illegal and can send you to jail in some countries.
There are many other things rooting allows, although these days some of these things can be done without rooting but there is always a catch, were as rooting gives total freedom.
DISADVANTAGES Disadvantages mostly affect noobs, people who lack the understanding of rooting cos it is highly technical. 1. It exposes you to malware and cyber intrusions because you have lifted all android restrictions and compromised the security model of Android. Rooted phones will no longer install official updates and security patches to keep your phone safe & secured. But if you are rooted with Magisk and understand how to modify boot.img then there is a way of installing OTA.... I hope i havent lost you here? 2.You can mistakenly delete or tamper with system files thereby turning your device into a brick. 3. Banking apps abroad check for rooting and will not work on rooted phones as a security measure to protect users. Something our banking apps dont do but should. For you banking apps to work you must do some added stuff called "magisk hide" which is not a 💯 guarantee. 4. You can mistakenly wipe you system/os if you dont know what you are doing. There is also a way to reinstall.... If you know what you are doing. 5. It voids some warranties & return policies in some countries.
The 2 major disadvantages are the banking apps & exposure to security risks. The rest comes from mistakes and not enough knowledge on rooting.
Rooting and being a SuperUser is what makes Android fun, its not for everyone. If you dont want you can always unroot the phone back to stock.
Hope my explanation was easy to understand. Please my nephew's teclast suddenly stopped booting when its switched on. Please any idea on how to go about it? He did not root it as he is just a little boy. Once switched on, it will just show the logo and that's all. It wont completely boot. Thanks! Iskalamong |

most of this superior lobbied for this position but I was picked because of my ability's to deliver on the job.
experience peeps how do I handle a situation where I am supervising my superior yet they are not reporting to me or can I issue queries to them. It's simple. Make all communications in mail. When they fail to send their reports, write them in mails, with your superiors in copy. This will be evidence that they're not performing their responsibilities. It will also save you later when things goes sour. This is because, you may be asked what you did when they refused to report to you, and if you have nothing tangible in your defense, it shows incompetence in your part. Also, watch your back, be careful in words and action. Don't allow anyone manipulate you emotionally (Avoid emotional outburst). Be careful even with so called friends (Trust no one). Be professional at all times, avoid gossips and shady deals. In all, you'll be fine. This is a phase, you'll overcome it. That's why experience is required for senior roles because more emotional tact is required compared to the technical competence required for junior roles. I wish you the best bro. Isklamong |

Emmaesty: I also experienced this about 3 years back and I have three options for you
1. Seba med Clear face soap. It's about 1500 naira. It really works, you would see the difference after 2-3 weeks. It would only clear the dark spots but not the Pimples.
2. Retin A. It would clear both the Pimples and the dark spots but it's not easy to get and you might need a doctor's prescription for it cause it's quite powerful.
3. Neo Medrol. This would clear every bit of Pimples you have but would do little or nothing about the dark spots. It's the best Pimples clearing lotion out there and it costs about 2000 naira.
My opinion, combine the soap with Neo Medrol for greater results |
