When Allah made Hajj obligatory, He made the ability to afford it an essential condition for that obligation. Hence, Hajj is not obliged except on those who can afford it. I see no reason whatsoever why the government is subsidizing Hajj with 90 BILLION NAIRA while majority of Nigerians are in abject poverty. If you cannot afford Hajj stay at home. FG should stop wasting our money on unnecessary things |

Hello Everyone. Yesterday, a news was reported that "The Nigerian Communications Commission has granted Globacom Limited more time to settle its interconnectivity dispute with MTN Nigeria Communications Limited" The news also said: "The Commission is pleased to announce that the parties have now reached agreement to resolve all outstanding issues between them. For this reason, and in exercise of its regulatory powers in that regard, the Commission has put the phased disconnection on hold for a period of 21 (twenty-one) days from today, 17 January, 2024" I don't know if it's only me since morning I have been unable to call an MTN line with my GLO Sim. |

Asalamu Alaikum Wa Salamu Wa Salamu Ala Rusulullah As to what follows: Today Insahallah we will talk about one of the main characteristics of a believer. In fact, some have said that this is the queen of all of the manner of the believer. Allah says in the Quran "The worshipers of Ar-rahman are those who walk with humility on this earth, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say word of peace.(Quran 25:63). Notice how Allah links worshiping him with humility. And that is why our scholars say. That one of the defining characteristics of a Iman is humility. You cannot have Iman if you have an atoms weight of arrogance in your heart. So today let summarise, what is humility. Realised Dear brothers and sisters, that the Arabic term for humility is "Tawwadar". And "Tawwadar" means to "lower yourself". "Tawwadar" means you are putting yourself down constantly; you are conquering your own ego. That's the very linguistics meaning of "Tawwadar". Our prophet was commanded by Allah in the Quran. "Lower your wings in front of the believers" (show humility)". (Quran 26:215) If even our Prophet is being told to lower his wings then how about us. Our scholars mentioned certain signs of humility, we should monitor and see if we have these signs. 1. Of the signs of humility is to not want to be in the limelight, to not want to always be at the forefront in any gathering. When you're amongst a group of people, to feel I want to be the most centre of attention. This is not a sign of humility. You should be grudging, you should be pushed forward, as our Prophet said, that we don't give leadership to those who desire it. Others should tell you and encourage you to desire to be in that position. 2. Of the signs of humility, is that when somebody praises you, you feel uncomfortable. You should not relish praise, much less crave it. 3. Of the signs of humility, is to recognise mistakes and sins and to confess in front of Allah your sins and to acknowledge mistakes in front of other people. One of the main test, if you are humble or not, is once you recognise you have committed an error. Will you apologize or not? So if you're humble, and you recognize you've made a mistake, and you cannot apologize for the mistake then Clearly there's an issue of humility. Our Prophet embodied humility in his life. The way the he interacted with people, the way that he lived, the way that he slept and ate, the way the he dressed. Nobody could tell him apart when they entered into a gathering, they would have to ask which one of you is Muhammad. The Prophet did not like to be praised. Anas ibn Malik said, "That because we knew he didn't like it, we wouldn't stand up in his presence, we would be humble in front of him because he did not want to be centre of attention". Even amongst the sahaba (companions), he would dress in the simplest of garments. He had no problem riding a mule or donkey, even though he could afford a camel or horse, and the people would address him with his "Kuniya" (title), [Ya Abu Qassim (O father of Qassim], and he did not mind this at all. And our prophet mended his own shoes and milk, his own goats and camels, he did not command his servants and his wives to do things for him. So these are some of the things that we can see whether we are humble or not. What are some of the fruits of humility? What happens when we are humble. 1. Of the most important blessing of being humble, is that Allah loves you. Our Prophet said, should I not tell you of the one whom Jahanam has been made haram for? They said who, he said, the one who is easy going and soft. The one who's soft and humble, everybody knows and loves him. Allah loves that person who is humble and simple. 2. Our Prophet said "whoever humbles himself for the sake of Allah, Allah will raise him higher". Whoever humbles himself Allah will dignify him; whoever has humility, Allah will bless him with honour. If you are truly humble, you will be beloved, admired, and respected. And if you desire fame and desire arrogance, then even if people outwardly give it to you, because of your wealth or power, in wardly they hate and dislike you. It is only the truly humble whom Allah blesses. And so the humble person is actually the one who has the most honour in the eyes of the people, even though in his own eyes he doesn't think that he is worthy. This is the essence of humility. HOW DO WE ACHIEVE HUMILITY? 1. We studied the dangers of arrogance. Understand that arrogance is the sin of Iblees (Satan). Understand that arrogance is the sin of Pharoah. When you understand how evil arrogance is, that our prophet Said, "That no one who has an atom's weight of arrogance shall enter Jannah". When we understand this, then you will recognize the importance of humility. 2. Monitor your heart anytime you feel that you're better than somebody. Remember, better and not more privileged. You should think you are the most privileged and blessed person on earth no problem, but never feel better than somebody. 3. We should increase our private actions of worship, we do worship when nobody is watching especially Tahajjud (night prayer) and giving secret charity. this is of ways we practice humility. 4. Our Prophet said, if you wish to find me. you will find me amongst the weak, poor, orphan. That where you will find me for Allah helps a nation because of the weak, the poor, the orphans and the widows. So if you want to be truly humble then be involved with those that are less privileged. Hang around those that are socially and economically disenfranchised. They the ones whom society does not look up to. So to be humble get involved with the weak, poor, orphan and widows and help them, that will help you overcome your own arrogance. May Allah bless us all with humility. May Allah eliminate any arrogance from our heart. Allahuma Aameen Juma'ah Mubarak to you all. Jazakumullahi khairan wasalamu alaikum warahmaatullahi wa barakatul. |

Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem Wa salatu wa salamu Ala rusulullah. Alhamdulillah, verily, All praise is due to Allah. We praise him and we seek his help, and we seek refuge in Allah for the evil of our souls and the consequences of our actions. Indeed whomever Allah guides none can misguide him and whomever He let astray none can guide him to the straight path. To Proceed: Dear Muslims, we are all aware that Iman and the strength of our Iman changes from time to place, sometimes our Iman is very strong and at other times it becomes weak. Allah described this phenomenon multiple times in the Quran itself. For example, In the end of Surah Tawba 124-125. Allah says "And whenever a Surah is revealed, there are among the hypocrites those who say, "which of you has this increased in Iman?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in Iman, while they are rejoicing". Allah then says in the next Aya: "But as for those in whose heart is disease it has [only] increased them in evil [in addition] to their evil". So, if Iman goes up and down then it is imperative on every single one of us that we should be monitoring the strength of our Iman. Just like the blood pressure patient he check his blood pressure, anybody who has an issue their struggling with they check it, And all of us are struggling with Iman. And the most important factor for all of our lives is to have strong Iman. So, this bring us to the question. How regularly do we check our Iman? In fact, How does one check his or her Iman? In this article, I want to remind myself and all of you two factor we have to be careful of, when it comes to accessing our Iman. As for the the factor we have to be careful of: 1. Just because you had strong Iman once; just because we tasted piety at one point in our lives, it does not mean that we shall remain pious throughout our lives. Just because we were close to Allah during Ramadan does not mean we are close to Allah right now. We felt spiritually strong during Umrah and Hajj doesn't mean it will last throughout our entire lives. Iman fluctuate and it is very possible that at on point in our lives we were very Good, very righteous and then shaytan came and misguided us. In fact, Allah remind us in the Quran Surah Allah says "Don't be like those who were given the book before you, and as time went on their hearts became hard". 57:16 They had Iman, they had the book, they had the knowledge, but they thought we are the chosen people. Just because we were righteous at one point in our life, does not guarantee! righteous at later point in our life. On the contrary, Iman is an active verb, we must nourish Iman and be vigilant so that our Iman does not go down. 2. The second factor we have to be careful of is, that even if we have a spiritual blessing and even if there is a barakah that Allah has given us. It is possible that we don't appreciate that blessing, and it possible that the very blessing that at one point cause our Iman to increase, at another point might actually become an impediment against strong Iman. And the best example for this is the blessing of knowledge. Allah praises knowledge and the people of knowledge and Allah actually says, you can never achieve the highest levels of Iman and Taqwa without knowledge. Allah says in Surah Al Imran "it is only the A'alim who will truly dear Allah". 35:28 So knowledge is a gift, it is a blessing from Allah but even this gift and blessing from Allah can be abused, shaytan can come and switch out this blessing and instead of becoming a blessing, the very thing that should have lead you to Allah might actually take you away from Him. If you misuse it, if you don't have the right intentions. Allah says "Very the Religion in the eyes of Allah is Islam, and the only reason the people before you they didn't broke away except, after knowledge had come to them - jealousy and arrogant came into their heart." 5:19 In so many verses, Allah says the people before you recognise the truth and they rejected it, they knew but they didn't act upon that knowledge. Instead their heart became hard they became jeolous and arrogant. Why was he given the book and not us? Why was the prophet in another race and not our race? Allah ascribed knowledge to them, and yet Allah said their knowledge did not benefit them. There are other examples like: Good health, wealth etc. Just because you have been blessed in one area doesn't mean, that it will always be a blessed area if you don't appreciate it. Then the very blessing that Allah has given you can be slip around and use against you. So, this are the 2 warnings that I want to remind myself and all of you. May Allah grant us all strong Iman, and knowledge that will be of benefit to our Iman. Allahuma Aameen🤲 Juma'ah Mubarak to you all. Jazakumullahi khairan wasalamu alaikum warahmaatullahi wa barakatul. |
Assalaamu Alaikum, Dear Brothera and Sisters in Islam. And just like that, an entire month of fasting has gone by. Even though the thought of fasting for weeks on end may have felt intimidating before Ramadan began, many of us simply blinked and time was up. We have been left with a profound sense of bitter-sweetness now that the month is over. “What do I do next?” we may ask ourselves, “How can I maintain that spirit of Ramadan?” The Prophet ﷺ gave us the solution we need when he encouraged us to fast 6 days in the month that immediately follows Ramadan: Shawwal. Fasting the 6 days of Shawwal is not obligatory, but voluntarily carried out in hope of its reward. Plus, you do not have to fast these days consecutively either–fasting any six days within the month is acceptable. 1. You get the reward for fasting the entire year The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with six [days] from Shawwal, it’s as if they have fasted a year” [Sahih Muslim]. Scholars explain that this is because Allah promises us 10 times the reward for every deed that we do. So fasting one month of Ramadan is equivalent to 10 months of fasting, while fasting 6 days of Shawwal is equivalent to 60 days (i.e., 2 months), totally an entire year of fasting. Imagine what this means for those who follow their Ramadan fasting with 6 days of Shawwal every year: they will meet Allah as if they have fasted their entire lifetime! 2. You can revive the Ramadan spirit Bring the Ramadan spirit to your Shawwal fasting by encouraging friends and family to fast with you. That way, you can motivate one another while also experiencing the communal joy of breaking fast together. 3. You can help make up for any of your shortcomings in Ramadan The Prophet ﷺ tells us, “The first thing for which a person will be brought to account on the Day of Resurrection will be their prayer. If it is complete, then the voluntary (prayers) will also be recorded for them (as an increase). If it is not complete then Allah will say to His angels: ‘Look and see whether you find any voluntary prayers for My slave, and take them to make up what is lacking from their obligatory prayers.’ Then all their deeds will be reckoned in like manner.” [Sunan Ibn Majah] Our voluntary fasts will be used on the Day of Judgement to both increase us in our good deeds as well as make amends for any of our deficiencies when we fasted Ramadan. 4. You can maintain your momentum after Ramadan and build long term habits After spending a month excelling in good deeds, many of us feel like it’s impossible to continue that lifestyle after Ramadan is over. But that was never the point. Ramadan serves as an opportunity to reset. As the Prophet ﷺ promises us, if we complete our worship in true faith throughout the month, then we leave the month with our sins forgiven. With a clean slate and reinvigorated energy, we have the ideal momentum to transform some of our Ramadan practices into habits. For example, spread your six days of fasting throughout Shawwal. Perhaps you fast every Monday and Thursday, and/or during the three middle days of the month–both of which were practices of the Prophet ﷺ. This helps you plant the seeds for a long term habit of fasting on those days. Remember, the Prophet ﷺ emphasized that Allah loves actions that are consistent, even if they’re small. Slow and steady wins the race. 5. You build an attitude of gratitude One of the spiritual benefits of fasting is that it nurtures gratitude in the heart of the believer. The more often we fast, the more spiritually aware we become of Allah's favors in our lives. Abstaining from food and drink reminds us that these too are blessings from Allah that we take for granted. Jazakkumullah Khairun wa salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu.
