ndrule:Since you have flare for banking. You can put in for chartered institute of bankers of Nigeria(CIBN) instead of ICAN |
Boss13:Thanks for the correction. dats typing error |
Tolupride:You can start now. You will start form ATS 2. You stand the chance to gain ATS certificate and get exemption from foundation level if you start now |
anonimi:you are right my brother |
fnwalie:You cant start afresh. you will continue from where you stop. The problem is that the syllabus have change. text your e mail address to me. I will send a document to you so that you will see what you need to write. |
Hello friend. golfo:Hello friend, Please call me on 08079276907,BBM PIN -7E02C6C4 or iso_bayor@yahoo.com |
PrinceMario:The chances are very high |
INNARMORATA:Well I cant really say. If you have passion for figures and u believe you can do well in financial world. Then you can go for ICAN .Like I said earlier, my best lecturer so far is an architect |
aYers jazzy4naija:Yes. some paper in foundation levels |
ebenice:If you have accounting knowledge academically or otherwise without been chartered, you are meagerly a BOOK KEEPER. You become accountant when you are chartered. If you are a chartered accountant then you are the following; 1 reporting accountant 2 financial accountant 3 A liquidator 4 An auditor 5 an assurance Engagor 6 a tax practitioner etc. If you pass ICAN , you can apply for Chartered institute of taxation of Nigeria membership without exams(NB this is the final verdict between ICAN and CITN out of court settlement as at 20th march 2015) |
senatorbayor:My friend, For you to have the mindset of writing ICAN exams, you deserved to be a chartered accountant. I have seen a first class graduate that fails ICAN exams several times. And I have seen a second class lower graduate that passed ICAN with ease. As I am telling to you, am not a genius, AS a matter of fact I wrote WAEC 6 times. But do you know wht? I didn't failed any paper in ICAN exams . Infact I even won prize. All you need is reading religiously. How do imean? are you the type that love reading what you know? Are you the type that hate reading difficult topics? The first techniques to pass ICAN exam is to have know little or more in every aspect of the syllabus. Don't do selective reading. More so, it is possible that you understand everything but you cannot deliver it within 3 hours .yOU KNOW ITS ABSURD FOR SOMEONE TO READ FOR 6 MONTH AND NEED TO DELIVER IT IN 3 HOURS....lol.. There are ways to do it, even when you don't know what to write, you can still get valuable marks. You can reach me on 08079276907 ,BBM PIN-7E02C6C4 or iso_bayor@yahoo.com |
I doubt if the school is accredited fotud:I doubt if the school is accredited., I will find out. However whether it is accredited or not, you can still write ICAN just dat you may not be exempted on some subject. If accredited, you will be exempted in all papers in foundation. You will spend close to 120k for the first diet This is for student registration, subscription, exemption fee and examination fee |
PrinceMario:Being A mechanical engineer does not stop your zeal of been an accountant. NO matter the discipline, all he/she need to do is to start from the foundation level, and believe me he will perform. Especially there are some courses dat are related to engineering which is perceived as difficult papers such as costing and quantitave techniques. |
How can yOu pass performance management and PSAF? Well there is no secret aside from timely and adequate preparation. You don't just prepare for ICAN but you must start early. You need to read religiously at least 2 hours on daily basis. Gather right materials from ICAN tutorial centres. Make sure you present yourself for lecture. It is very difficult to use an academic knowledge and idea to pass professional exams. There are some secret that you can never hear anywhere except from a right tutors centres. Do you know that it is possible to predict probable questions for ICAN exams? These are the secret that we lecturers have that students don't have. Also, there is one thing to know what to write, and there is another thing to be able to deliver it within 3 hours.... If you are in lagos ,you can reach me on 08079276907 or iso_bayor@yahoo.com Regards. |
I have a glo number 08079276907. or email me through iso_bayor@yahoo.com |
@esoboy, you can do it in form of one thing at a time. Go for your PGD first, and later on you calm down and take up ICAN exams. Why did I say dis? Th PGD have a set time to finish. But ICAN is subject to passing all in each level before moving ahead.God will help you |
The exemption fee is 64k |
`@MasterBIODUN, ICAN programme does not disturb the PGD programme if th person can cope. But If the person cannot cope, I will advise the person to go for PGD first before ICAN |
Yes It is true that federal poly idah was accredited. With this, You just need to write 2 stages ,,Meaning that within one year you can become a qualified accountant. You will need up to 120k to write the first stage...this comprises of student registration fee, exemption fee, examination fee and subscription fee. However for the last stage you only needed like 55k ..,, @Dorcas I will advice you to start now with your OND certificate. If it is OND in accounting, you wil start from ATS 3 and with that you will get exemption in all first stage subjects in professional exams. Meaning that you will write just 2 stages in professional level. Also, if you pass ATS, You will get a certificate for that because ATS is just an affiliated institute to ICAN. It is own by Accounting bodies of west Africa(ABWA). So it is advisable for you to start now. |
Dear Friend, I remembered my best lecturer during ICAN programme is an Architect. He was so good in Financial reporting that you have to mention his name in the first 10 best financial reporting lecturers in Nigeria. Being and Engineer or Even a medical doctor does not deprive you opportunity to be an accountant. All you need is to start from the first stage(skill). Another advantage is that if you start from the scratch, it will be easier for you to cope at advanced level compare to those that got exemption in some subjects. However, I don't think ICAN will be a distraction to your online program,it depends on how you strategised yourself. If you are in Lagos, anytime you want to start you can contact me. I will introduce you to Tutors centre that can take you through foundational basis of accounting. |

@kUFREABASI. The Advanced MGT accounting by Omolehinwa. You can by ACCA F8-Performance management. It is very useful . |
Hello All, As an undergraduate of economics or whatever, you can start ICAN but through Accounting Technician scheme of West Africa(ATSWA). You can start that with your O level certificate. That examination have stages.A fter that ,then you will proceed to Middle level of ICAN professional exams. @Zezebabayxoxo, I am an ACCA lecturer too because I am a member as well. You cant start ACCA with your O level too .starting from the scratch F1. Truly speaking you cant compare ACCA with ICAN when we talk of international recognition, at least for now. But in Nigeria today, ICAN and ACCA is at par. But recently, ICAN have started gaining international recognition. ICAN had an MoU with Institute of Chartered Accountants of Englands and Wales(The institute that champions ACCA). The agreement was that ICAEW designed new ICAN syllabus and study pack, so with that ICAN will be recognized by foreign countries. Infact, if you pass ICAN with this new syllabus, you will get ICAEW certificate without exams(Please note that will be effective after all Mou fully implemented). I t is because of that ,that ICAN now make it compulsory for ACCA holdrrs to write some papers before they get ICAN certificate. Prior before this time, With ACCA you can get ICAN certificate without any exams. Presntly, if you are ICAN associate member, you are expected to write 5 papers in ACCA before you are certified. For your second question that many ICAN members don't get better job.You are absolutely correct, but that could not be traced to the profession but the NIgeria economy. This is a country that qualified medical doctors and Barristers struggle to earn a living. However, there are prospect for Accountant in this country aside from looking for while collar jobs. You can be a lecturer, you can be a consultant and you can still be under a copany employment at the sametime. Just like me, I am an employee in a company, at the sametime I am a lecturer and a consultant. As for minimum working experience required by ACCA, please note that ICAN also required minimum of 36 months experience as well. But there are ways to work around it. Just pass the exams first then you can reach me on 08079276907 OR iso_bayor@yahoo.com |

Dear All, I want you to advice a close of friend of mine that was sacked 2 month after joining. He was cajoled to resign from his stable job in January this year after the company promise him a lot of welfare packages. I nfact the company pay his formal company in lieu of notice penalty. However he was retrenched 2 month later. The only reason that was given is that the company is doing financial restructuring due to naira devaluation and he was asked to go even without any pay. Is it possible to take any legal action?. The company is a Lebanese company |
