spenca: Finally Rivers don carry first for something other than runs girl even with the whole oil resources given to that state monthly . There is basically no excuse for this shambolic infrastructure in fact the cubicle which Kwara state uses as an airport is far better than this , Rivers airport uses canopy has an arrival lounge can someone please remind them the canopy are for owambe and it is made as a short term temporary structure and now EKITI also want to make a fool of themselves , I would rather have just 3 airport in Nigeria with international Standard rather than have one in virtually all the states and yet the won't even pass for local standard , this is not just a stain on the white fabric of Rivers state but on Nigeria as a whole . We need to revive our planning frontiers . GEJ IS WORKING!!!! Didn't him and Stellah Oduah refurbish all the Airports in Africa before he was booted out of office? GEJ TILL 2099!!! |

Has any Nigerian Crime fighting Agency ever heard of a wiretap? How about turning these criminals against each other by threatening the smaller fish with 20yrs in Kirikiri (and meaning it) unless he gets the bigger fish on a wire/video tap? How about surveillance? How about recognizing the toughest judges they can find and transfer corrupt cases to them?
I personally think Nigerians are hypocrites and love the messed up, corrupt society they find themselves because organization and a proper society is too much work for them. |
Politics › Nigeria, This Is Not How To Gather Your Citizens' Unique Info by ISpiksDaTroof(op): 1:55am On Oct 16, 2015*. Modified: 2:28am On Oct 17, 2015 |
At times, I wonder why Nigeria does certain things; good intentions but half assed measures in implementation. The country's future depends on excellence from this point on, there is no time to waste and nothing short of perfection should be accepted from the populace . A few days ago, I saw the pictures of President Buhari receiving his National I.D card and I could not help but feel bad for Nigeria, its children, and the rest of her citizens. In today's world, no reasonable Nation goes about gathering its citizens' biometric data in the manner which Nigeria currently is doing .Barr. Chris Onyemenam (National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Nigeria and Director General/CEO of the Commission) the man in charge of this program should be replaced immediately because it is obvious that he is not in tune with modern requirements surrounding this project. The fact that he is supposed to be a lawyer---AND SHOULD BE STAUNCHLY DEFENDING CITIZENS' RIGHTS AND "PRIVACY FROM GOVERNMENTAL INTRUSION" ---makes this all the more disappointing. Below, I will provide more reasonable suggestion because the first provision of any government to its citizens is human rights; The right to be free in movement with your land and to also be free from Government intrusion on your person without just cause.
HOW NIGERIA SHOULD GATHER ITS VITAL STATISTICS.
1. First and foremost, REALIZE THAT NO SINGLE WESTERN/DEVELOPED COUNTRY MANDATES ITS CITIZENS TO PROVIDE BIOMETRIC DATA BEFORE ISSUING UNIQUE IDENTIFYING NUMBERS,but because Nigeria is a "unique" case and is doing this for the first time its is understandable that this will be required; ONLY ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OLD SHOULD BE FINGERPRINTED FOR THIS PROGRAM. .
2. Protecting the rights of her citizens should be paramount if not---in the future--- this will be abused and don't be surprised when the fingerprints of a innocent Nigerian will be "found" at the scene of a terrorist act.
3. Once the info of every Nigerian of adult age (and their dependents) is collated, the minors who have been registered will (also)be issued a number and when they become adults all they need to do is register their own children at birth, who will then also be issued a unique number. A finger print is not required from them because their parents had/have already been registered as minors.
Biometric data should ONLY be required of Aliens, Criminals, and during background checks of those wishing to work with Federal or State institutions etc and not Natural born citizens. Nigeria needs to start learning to be proactive, not reactive. |

ryom: I marvel at these comments. Its either a display of utter naivety or stupendous ignorance. Where do people think the data base of their electronic records are held anyway? Do you have a mobile phone (especially a smartphone), an email address, an ATM card and the like? Do you hold an international passport? Travelled abroad, especially to any of the so called first world country? Drive a car manufactured 2010 and beyond? Then they already have the records. This card favours you by consolidating your information in one place at your point of access; but them? They already have the information if you have done any of the bit I mentioned earlier! Looks like a lot of folks are in deep slumber!! Its too late to want to be anonymous. Like a boss of mine once said, ''its not about being raped (figuratively), its about making the experience as pleasant as possible.'' You're African---constant electricity is still a mystery to you---so Im not surprised that you don't understand the danger in providing your biometric data to the Government without justifiable cause. |

It's not about that. It's about your right as a human being.
That was the same reason why the UK ID card project was scrapped.
And this one is far worse than that. He's part of the dummies that'll eventually destroy Nigeria with their ignorance. |

Frankiss44: You are not just a bastard but also a tribal bigot.. For starters, am not an ibo person... Your first crazy comments had to do with insulting the woman's eye.. So that's a compliment right? The only thing you can even boast of your prostitute mother is that she is an American citizen and entitled to uninterrupted power supply.. Lol.. Yet you feel she can clean the shoes of a Shell executive? You better Google that lady's CV before you try to compare her to your cock sucking mother.. Direct your frustration elsewhere and wait till the woman is proved guilty first... As it stands, all these rubbish you are spitting are mere speculations... Goodbye Bastard, it's Monday morning, go and look for something to do and stop depending on your mama to put food on your table You're still the one throwing insults around, you see? Yes, I did say Mrs.Maduekwe is not good looking. Or at least not as beautiful as Nigerians always proclaim her to be. Beauty is "subjective", and its my prerogative to decide who I think is beautiful. Its not like mental illness---as in your case--- that has a standard definition. So, tell me why did you get upset? Why are you angry? Are you Mrs.Diezani Maduekwe? Aren't you supposed to be dying of cancer? A lot of you Nigerians are so ignorant to the point of pity. Pray tell, in the scheme of things: WHO THE HELL IS A SHELL EXECUTIVE?! If Mrs.Maduekwe did not steal your Government funds you would not be respecting her so much right now. Today she's a pariah and every institution that had a (previous) relationship with her has disowned her; except low life career losers like yourself. You need to get your life and stop defending the same people that ensured you lacked the proper education and environment to comport yourself in a civilized manner. P.S:I never said you were Ibo. I said you "probably" were, and that more than likely you came from that Region i.e the minority tribes in the area. You exhibit the classic uncouth character typical of the people from that part of your country. |

What is respectful about you? You can't pass a message without insulting people.. I just wonder what your father's case will look like.. It's either the word bureaucrat has a new definition or the respect you are talking about is in your wild imagination... Well, you're Nigerian so its not expected that you'd be truthful. The surprise would've been if you didn't lie. Did I start insulting people's parents or did I respond to the insults from you poverty stricken lowlifes on here? |

Rubbish Actually, you dirty, lying Nigerian son of a bi*tch, I did not take to insulting anyone's parents first--- that is a Nigerian trait when theyr're losing an argument. Specifically, its a very Ibo trait. Ive lived amongst your people and I can tell your characters even without seeing the person. I'd be surprised if you are not one or do not come from somewhere around that part of Nigeria. My mother cannot clean Mrs.Diezani's shoes? Why? Because she's rich from pilfering funds meant for your development? Well, at least her son is involved in works that ensure crooked African Govt officials end up in our comfy Prisons. October1960: Our stolen monies are building good roads in UK, US and Europe thanks to bank deposits by Nigerian politicians and government officials since 1979.
