In view of the recent spate of ritual-based killings, of which most of the victims are female, and which are purported to be carried out by "Yahoo boys (cyber frauds)," I'm left to wonder whether these "ritual killings" actually work.

If they don't work, then why are so many young men -- it seems -- doing it?

Many of them claim they got into it because they've seen it work for others or because they've heard the story of someone who did it and it worked for him (or her).

What's your opinion, guys? Does Yahoo Plus work? Myth or fact?

I feel like if it were exposed to be a myth, then there wouldn't be any such killings. The belief that it works is part of what, I think, encourages these young men to go into this evil, inhumane and criminal act.

Are you an inexorable bibliophile? A book lover? A knowledge enthusiast? A thinker?

Does the voodoo of the written word ensnare you with its surreal allure? Are you intrigued by the uniformed march of alphabets across the enamel-coloured plains of a book? The alphabets, those pygmy match-stick foot soldiers; their march bound by staid commas and semicolons; their hand-in-hand procession from left to right, allying with one other in screaming meaning and substance at the roving eye of the patient reader.

Have you be known to avow, "I shall read 100 books this year!" Only for your bookshelf to become a ghost town, copiously coated with the dust of procrastination?

BOOK-ALA-THON is the maiden initiative of StayWokeNaija, a budding knowledge-management enterprise aimed at catering for the Nigerian mental outlook, specifically that of the Nigerian youths.

The aims of BOOK-ALA-THON are:

(a) to bring about a comity of like-minded students -- "LASUITES" -- who will read 20 books between 10th September, 2018 to 10th November, 2018. (Classics, Political treatise, Science literature, Commonwealth Literature, African Literature and non-African literature -- Including, but not restricted to the works of Soyinka, Achebe, Adichie, Mariama Ba, Dostoveysky, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Marx, Trotsky, Mandela, Nietzsche, Lao-Tzu, Austen, Da Vinci, Machiavelli, etc.)

(b) to discuss, debate, banter, and critically analyse chosen texts/books -- all in a spirit of comradeship and camaraderie.

Membership is FREE and open to all Lasuites -- faculty, department, and level are entirely irrelevant. The communal study would be done at designated times and on designated spots on LASU Ojo Main Campus.

Don't be surprised, those who love supposedly in God are more selfish than those who are not claiming it.

I've seen it all. And what I known is that God make use of the imperfect to fufill his purpose in our lives. God make use of the Atheist, the Muslims and the traditional worshippers to fufill His purpose. I refuse to put God in a box called religion.
