Africa's leading mobile phone company, itel mobile is hoping to attract more customers to its recently launched itel P51 smartphone through the medium of power contests.

As part of efforts to raise public awareness of the strength and power of the P51, which can last for 3 days in 1 charge, itel recently sponsored a “Macho" competition for students of King Jaja Hall of the University of Lagos.

The competition, which featured 21 contestants, saw the contestants go through different power events including pulling a car, raising of big truck tires as well as weight lifting.

At the end of the contest, top prize which was a brand new itel P51 phone and cash price went to Kachi, as unanimously agreed by the panel of judges.

The judges, which included Buchi Fitness, a renowned fitness trainer, praised the winner for his "striking body with his wide chest and thick neck".

Speaking at the event, the Marketing Communications Manager, itel mobile, Mr. Oke Umurhohwo, stressed the strength and capability of the P51, assuring customers of reward for their money.

“The display of strength here at the Macho Contest is exactly what the itel P51 stand for. A powerful phone because it can take users for days. With itel P51, you are getting value for money.”

“itel mobile support students activities because we are a youth and student friendly brand," Mr. Umurhohwo added.

Tech Premier League: itel Mobile defeats 3C Hub in clash of the titans


Mobile phone giant itel mobile locked horns with popular Smartphone retail store, 3C Hub last Saturday for the ultimate trophy of bragging rights.

The match which afforded fans and staff the opportunity to play and have fun was held at the University of Lagos Sports Center and ended in favour of itel mobile with a score line of 3-1.

Two goals from itel Mobile early in the first half ramped up the pressure on 3C Hub before a penalty call to 3C Hub reduced the deficit. With 3C Hub pressing for an equalizer in the second half, itel mobile Marketing manager, Marvin Umebiye sealed the victory with a fantastic 3rd goal amidst jubilation by the itel mobile supporters club.

Both staff and supporters expressed the desire for more of such social events as 'all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.' They also noted that the match enhanced relaxation and interaction between the two brands.

Speaking at the end of the match, a delighted Oke Umurhohwo who was the itel coach of the day and also the Marketing Communications Manager of itel Mobile said,

“The major goal of the tech premier league is to use football to connect our fans and staff. At itel mobile, we hold our fans and customers in high esteem and we want to ensure a continued good relationship with them. Part of this relationship includes having events like this and rewarding some of them with mobile phones, accessories and other gadgets to both whether players and spectators.”

The most valuable players from both teams went home with a brand new itel P51 smartphones while all other team members got lot of souvenirs courtesy of Oraimo and Carlcare.

With the erratic power supply in the Nigeria these days, it's no surprise Mobile phone companies are tending to produce phones with big battery sizes. Android phones time past where been criticized because of poor battery capacity, it's really a welcome development that phones are produced with big battery sizes now. Good to know itel have joined the trend with the P51, which according to them have 5000mAh, that's a massive battery size.
