PoliticsRe: Nigerian Air Force Begin Taking Delivery Of State-of-the-art Mi35m Helicopters by iterator25: 6:11am On Sep 10, 2014
shymexx: Dude, STFU when those who're conversant with the military are talking.

Mi-28 started in 2009, and it's the most modern attack helicopter in the Russian inventory, apart from the ka-50. And it's comparable to the American Apache. Heck, Kenya has at least 16. And Algeria has close to 30.

I honestly don't know why you lot love spouting nonsense everywhere.
your father!

www.army-technology.com/projects/mi28/
The Mi-28 combat helicopter has been developed by Mil Moscow
Helicopter Plant and is known by the NATO codename Havoc. In August
1996 Mil rolled out a prototype of the day and night capable version, the
Mi-28N Night Havoc. The first production Mi-28N took its first flight in
April 2004 and began flight testing with the Russian Air Force in June
2005.
The Russian Air Force has plans to procure up to 60 of this variant, now
called the Mi-28NE Night Hunter.
Three were ordered in 2005 and 16
more in 2006 for delivery by 2008.
The first production aircraft was
delivered in May 2006 and began
formal acceptance testing in
September 2006. Five aircraft are involved in the testing which is
scheduled to conclude in early 2008.
Mi-28 can fly at a maximum speed of 300km/h, can fly rearwards and
sideways at speeds up to 100km/h and is able to hover turn at 45° a
second.

www.airforce-technology.com/projects/mi-35m-hind-e/
The Mi-35M is a multi-role combat helicopter manufactured by Rostvertol,
a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters. It is an export variant of Mi-24 Hind
attack helicopter. Primarily designed for attack and military transport
missions, the helicopter delivers superior flight performance and
manoeuvrability than its predecessor.
The production of Mi-35M started in 2005. The aircraft integrates modern
high-precision weaponry for destroying ground-based armoured targets
and providing air support for ground missions. It can be modified as an
attack, ground assault, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) or transport
platform.
The Mi-35M is one of the modern combat helicopters in the Russian Air
Force inventory. It is also operated by the armed forces of Venezuela,
Brazil and Azerbaijan.

shymexx: This is just absolutely shameful, and when you start telling them the truth, by critiquing based on the truth - the rabid attack dogs will start saying you hate the country.

Nigeria has been using Mi-35 for more than 7 years now. And it's an old attack helicopter. If you're going to modernise the Nigerian military, why not go for the Mil Mi-28, which is a better, and an all purpose one? Little countries like: Kenya, Angola, and Algeria have it. So, what's stopping Nigeria from doing the same? Also, for Boko Haram, it will be more effective than the Mi-35M.

And if they want to go for the kill, they should've gone for the KA-50.

These folks are just too corrupt.
what's this one saying ? do you know mi-35 [hind E]?

your mi-28 started production in 1996 while the latter started in 2005, which is old?

my people, the end of ponmo consumption is nigh ..
AgricultureFG Set To Ban Hides And Skin “ponmon” by iterator25(op): 4:36pm On Sep 09, 2014
Federal Government may have concluded plans to ban sale and widespread consumption of hides and skins(PONMON)which is a delicacy to most Nigerians.

This indication emerged Tuesday when the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina called for competent regulations that would check the consumption and sale of the product.

He said this at the 3rd joint anniversary of Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) and Nigeria Institute of Animal Science held at the University of Ibadan.

If this is achieved, he noted that livestock farmers would stand good chances of making high dollar return if the hides and skins are tanned into leather.

The minister who was represented at the occasion by the Director, Animal Production and Husbandry in the Ministry, Dr. Ademola Raji, said, ”I also commend NIAS for its advocacy and public enlightenment programs on Radio and Television that promote value addition in Livestock, as against sale and consumption of primary products alone, particularly with the issue of curtailing the widespread consumption of hides and skins as PONMON which ought to be tanned into leather for a very high dollar return to the farmer and Tanneries. I expect that competent regulations acceptable by all stakeholders will be developed so as to give credibility that our set standards for food safety are being implemented which will boost value addition.”

The theme of the programme was entitled, “Value Addition in the Nigerian Livestock Industry: A strategy for Economic Growth and Stakeholders Empowerment”.

The minister stressed that FG would continue to drive its Agricultural Transformation Agenda with increased vigour in all its ramifications, pleading for continuous support and cooperation of all stakeholders in the livestock sector to deliver the benefits.

He said,”I am confident that the satisfactory production levels achieved in the poultry and swine segments will soon stretch to reach other commodities such as beef, dairy, micro livestock and animal by products such as leather, bones, hides and skins.

The drive to turn Agriculture into business and not merely a way of life is now in full gear, with the use of mobile phones and e- wallet for input distribution directly to farmers, farmer’s registration with biometric identity cards and the Growth Enhancement Support scheme.

We have all seen the revolution in Rice production and processing; in cassava, sorghum and cotton that have increased output per hectare, through the supply of high quality raw materials to revive industries that have hitherto closed down.”

Food production, he said, rose in 2013 by 8 million metric tonnes over 2012 figures which represents over 70% growth of the target set for 2015 by Government.

“In 2012, 264,000 hectares of dry season paddy rice cultivated in the Northern states alone yielded 1.1 million metric tonnes.” he added.

Speaking earlier, NIAS President, Professor Placid Njoku, applauded the Federal government for tackling the deadly Ebola virus disease, noting that the institute would encourage its members to undertake visionary studies aimed at producing popular bush meat in the country in ”intensive ,hygienic and Ebola disease free environment.”

Dear nairalanders,

it has come to our attention that western medias such as AFP, AP, Yahoo news, Reuters are taking advantage of our political woes and tribal differences to report bias news regarding the insurgency in the northeastern part of the country. Attacks are now being referred to as 'Take lover' even our military successes against our struggle from terrorism are never highlighted during their reportage. Boko haram feeds on news of their successes to recruit and radicalise more jobless youths in the north there by increasing their man power and attacking more communities.

Now, this thread is not about PDP or APC, its about your country, its about you traveling out of the country and not being discriminated against by foreigners as a potential terrorist, its about you standing up for what's right for the country that made you.

As we all know there's a psychological warfare going on aside what our arm forces are facing in the north. i implore every patriotic Nigerian reading this, arm themselves with their computers and modems and counter this bias reportage by these media.. they have comments functionality on their website right? 'we go bombard am', lets paint their twitter page with green white green .. let them know we're behind our armed forces. This is the least we can do in the comfort of our homes to backup our military.

Abeg una!

Superbbash: i trully wil support this idea of urs sir, but how do we do it.
Pls note dat i dont blong 2 any party. I jst want a better nigeria
we can start by bombarding the comments session of the news platforms such as AFP, AP, yahoo news and Reuters . from there, there audience we'll know that Nigerians support their millitary and their government effort .. but if we start supporting foreigners in criticizing our government, we'll continue to shoot our self in the foot
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Gain More Towns, Fighter Jets Do Nothing - Yahoo News by iterator25: 7:31am On Sep 08, 2014
the fact that the article only highlighted gains by boko haram [which ain't confirmed], and used the confessions of fleeing people [usually in a distraught state of mind] shows there's a systematic plan to instill fear in Nigerians and ultimately make the Nigerian government look irresponsible in the international community.

we have over 170 million people in this country, can't we just form a group to counter this foreign medias ? this is not just a physical battle, there's a psychological element to it as well, and I believe we that are sitting in the comfort of our homes can fight back.. we have our computers and modems.. what's stopping us?

THERE ARE MANY CITIES IN SA WHICH ARE MORE DEVELOPED THAT MANY CITIES IN AMERICA. FACT!!
just because some cities are more developed doesn't mean you ain't a third world country .. Abuja Nigeria for instance can be compared to DC in terms of aesthetics and infrastructure but when you look at the country wholly, we're still bombarded with third world challenges .. same as SA [service delivery protests for instance, infrastructure (some provinces still lack this..etc)...]

Cape Town - It appears that Woolworths was not the target of a bombing near one of its branches in Cape Town, the
retail group said on Friday.
It said that CCTV footage showed a man walking past the Woolworths food store in Kromboom Road, Athlone, and
placing a device outside a neighbouring store.
Several stores were damaged. There were no injuries.
Western Cape police are investigating but would not elaborate on Woolworths latest statement, said spokesperson
Captain FC van Wyk.
No arrests have been made, Van Wyk said.
A second pipe bomb exploded near a car dealership in nearby Belgravia Road also on Friday morning.
The City of Cape Town's fire and rescue services told Eyewitness News they were called to Belgravia Road after an
apparent explosion. They found a car was on fire, and bystanders said it had exploded.
eNCA reporter Lester Kiewit said that there were similar pipe-bombings at two auto dealerships in Athlone in August last
year.
