Permanent Secretary was kidnapped in Enugu. The Press Secretary to the Governor wrote several articles calling for the removal of the CP Enugu. Several indigenes of Enugu protested that the CP be removed.

CP of Enugu removed, ironically, Permanent Secretary is released without paying ransom.

The Federal Government has dismissed reports that 23 Nigerians convicted for drug offences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had been executed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was in contact with the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia “and it has been confirmed that the story is false and should be disregarded.”

The media had been awash with the names of the convicts awaiting execution in various Saudi prisons for drug offences.

But the ministry spokesman, Ferdinand Nwonye, explained in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, that the MFA was investigating claims that most of the trials were carried out without adequate legal representation for the accused, in accordance with internationally accepted legal principles.

It said, “Furthermore, the Nigerian Mission was not informed of the arrests and trials. The Federal Government is, therefore, engaging the Saudi authorities through diplomatic channels with a view to finding a just solution.”

Gunmen, on Sunday attacked Ikirike Police Station in Enugu. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident, said they came pretending to be in distress and then launched the attack.

As at the time of filling this report, no casualty has been reported.

However, Andrew Young should note that such perpetual complains are always coming from just a greedy section who are never satisfied with their fair share. They have been complaining right from time immemorial because they prefer to get more than their fair share

Example, Nigeria is blessed with crude oil, but they are bitterly angry that other sections of the country benefit from same oil as much as them, even though they have none while sections where this oil is deposited don't even make noise.

Even this good news, they must complain about it, it is in their gene to always complain.

In America the chief of staff was previously known as the "private secretary".

In Nigeria there is a "principal private secretary to the president" and he reports to the chief of staff.

The chief of staff position was introduced by President Obasanjo in 1999, but we also had something similar under military rule. There used to be the position of "principal staff officer to the president" and I remember that General Ukpo was principal staff officer to President Babangida.
