^^^ no be lie! grin grin same village oh!!! lol@ 7for girls 9for boys.lol. The massaging is very important for me! Mum do say because they'v not learnt hw to turn conveniently, they tend to hav body aches from sleeping long on a position and also additional fat can make the nerves tight so U loosen it by massaging and give room for easy expansion and added fat. Sometime if my boy becomes over active and refuses to sleep early, even till 12midnit, I'll just grab him and give him a relaxing massage and everybody can sleep in peace. aba!.. but I do the thing the way am comfortable with oh.lol....thinking of it now makes me laugh!

Kudos to elderly mum!(tho thier theories can irritate me oh...imagine one talking of using grinded tortoise shell for babies head. WHAT?!!!wer U go see am? U want the baby head to resemble tortoise? grin grin grin )

Warfibabe: hello mum.. I know some peeps think it is not necessary but have you tried massaging his navel with hot water?(Not burning hot o!) My older son was that way until my mum pointed out that their navels takes time to close up and heal after the cord has fallen off, that I was suppose to massage and use the baby mentholata till three months. I did that to my son and the whole crying, wriggling, grunting everything stopped. With my newborn I am still doing it and it is working fine for me.
It is well with us o!

Very true! Truthfully I forgot this, maybe as I am not used to the colic word. Yes, I'v always known navel disturbs babies real good! My mum also emphasised the use of mentholetum, I remember refusing initially bc Pead said not apply anytin. I couldnt help it once when I couldnt figure out the cause of my boy's continous crying(and stretching pushing up his tummy)and as soon as I applied it the crying stopped and he slept. I did consistently till 5months oh(if not more self)

Wafibabe, do U know the amusing thing? mum said while applying the mentholetum, they normally put a finger around the.navel and apply in anti-clockwise direction for boys and clockwise for girls grin grin grin wetin concern me wit direction....elderly people's ideas can be very funny grin.

Family / Re: My Jealous Wife by itsmelex(f): 10:35pm On Sep 02, 2013
@op was she doing this befor, befor she got preg? preg women tend to feel they are out of shape and their spouse may not see them attractive. If this is the case, she will feel more insecure now than before. If U can, limit Ur visit now, invite your son over instead or go with her always, as someone has emphasied. Spend more time with her and she will feel prefered. In your discusion about your son, AVOID frequent mention of his mother...Draw the line.

You can also gradually make her feel its her first son..."when have you decided we go and see our son"...hard but possible, that way she may feel involved... She decided to marry you, she automatically "adopt" your son...
All the best.

Thanks. I need this too. For the past 1month I'v been breastfeeding not more than twice in 24hrs. Hoping that stopn wont be painful oh...

nimzy13: Mommies in the house, please I need urgent response. My 11weeks old baby has refused to suckle on a feeding bottle and I will be resuming work on the 16th of this month, have tried various method even tried different feeding bottle teat yet he won't suckle on it. Am seriously scared cuz I intend taking him to a creche next week, and I don't know how he will be fed. So confused on what to do.

Sorry for the stress and pressure. my son also refused bottle initially but wit patience and perseverance I succeeded. Initially I didnt push it and was using spoon(as doctors advise now), but it wasnt fun at all then I tried bottle again. I'll alow him get a litle very hungry and I wont put him to breast but will use the bottle and leave it in his mouth even if he doest suck. After a while he will suck jst small. I reduced putting him on breast for while instead I expressd and giv him mysef or my mum does so he knws he had no option. Now he takes it very well and is still using bottle.

Heard not all children accept it but I pray yours do soon.

We are in d same shoes. Stoping by month end and dont realy know what twil be like but I'v decided to just stop and use nothing! I gues it wont be more painful than when I use to have very full breast with milk or more painful than labour contractions?lol. Keeping fingers crossed til then...

Wendy80: Somthn happened I̶̲̥̅̊n my estate last night, a lady lost her 3weeks old baby. The baby has bn stooling for 3days and instead of seeking medical help, the lady prefered 2call mothers with newborn 2ask what 2give 2her child. A Moda asked 2giv Jelosi and flagyl or somthn like that sha. 2days after the baby was stl down n very pale dats whn she decided 2go 2 †ЂΞ hospital. Long story cut short, the child died. The cause of stooling was discovered to be Jaundice.
Lesson 2be learnt here is wha is wrong with ur child might not be same wth anoda child even if dey exhibit same symptom.we are all here 4 one anoda but pls let's try as much as possible not 2giv drug prescription.
The Moda whu Prescribed jelosi n flagyl is feelin so bad now but she said dats wht she gives 2her kids.

Wow! wow!! wow!!! Wendy you dont say!
I realy feel for her oh. You have a point there oh! Even though my baby's pead makes jest of our(hubby and I) coming too often, I dont mind oh! I just laugh and tell her that thats why they are there and afterall she is not doing it for free. She even laughed one night when we went at 2am bc of cough.lol. funny now but I gues they will still say why didnt U come earlier God forbid.

I have said on this thread befor that I dnt think we are Doctors or medical personel just mothers with some form of experience, and even if we are, we cant well examine your child online, so that should be put into real consideration...

May God console her and give her double for her trouble.

Havin dat teachin experience cud help u in future&u said ur kids wil b attendin day care there too so dat's lik killin 2birds wit a stone. My cousin got a teachin job in a private sch;was bn paid 35k mthly but d workload was so much.Sh resigned&started creche in her house;collectin 15k per mth for each child(7am-1pm.If u'r child wil b stayin beyond 1pm,extra money wil b charged)&sh's makin it big&spendin nothin cos d mothers bring their children's food. Now,sh has gotten a place sh wants 2start nursery sch. This's within 1yr

My Dear, that creche thing is money oh, more still if you'r on your property. I sat one day to do the calculation mysef. In my baby's creche its a nanny to 4babies or 5toddler, imagine. Here they colect 10k per child so its 50k for 5toddler and dey wont pay the nanny more than 20-30k per mnth. Altogether they have about 15-20kids, making about 60-100k per month depending. Hey, dont forget we buy 'supply' monthly oh!...2toilet soaps, dettol, detergent and toilet rolls. Some creche even pay as high as 35-40k per month here!

We want to work/pursue our careers and we have to give birth so somtims we cant help but patroniz day care centers.

hi all, kudos to u all. My love to ur Lo and Dh. I need ur advice. I was a banker till i gave birth last yr to my twin boys, motherhood forced to resign...mmhh i no easy. Fast forward to now, am searching for job, but since am based in onitsha my chances are limited. De only available job is teaching and de pay is too poor b/w 17-20k. So should i take up dis modern day slavery for de sake of having time for my kids or should i start a buisness of my own? Mind u, i need child friendly answers. My first daughter is only 2yrs 4mths. Cioa

Wow! realy tight but solvable. By 'modern day slavery' do U mean doing nothing or the teaching? I would say the pay is very poor for the teaching knwing you may be considering paying a nanny or day care center. Hav you tried business befor and are you confident in laying your hands on it? Business can be more flexibl than teaching. Another question is; do you think starting the biz would yield more than 20k monthly now?

You may start the teaching for a few months(am thinking they close by 2-4) while trying your hands on a business to be sure of what to venture in. When certain and steady, you could stabilize in it, quit teaching and may get someone trustworthy to be there in the evenings or anytime when you go attend to home and kids. I hear they say business is a risk.

Good luck in whatever you decide. Big hug to you kids!

Being a mum is a very wonderful experience though sometimes you just want to ram your head through the nearest wall. Thanks.

limsycutey: Hi everyone, I have a question, it's about my niece, she's 11 weeks old, on a normal day, she poops like once or twice, but for the past five days she has been in pooping about 7 or 8 times everyday, my sister has been giving her oralyte(sp?) to keep her from getting dehydrated, but she's getting worried cos its going on for too long. I don't know whether this has anything to do with it but it started the day she went for her last immunization,

5days is quit much. Hope the baby isnt weak? stooling can sap one's strenght! I'v heard some immunizatn for sine babies can cause reactns lik rashes but not heard of stooling. When my baby reactd to a food once, he poopd upto 6tims and the nxt day doctor prescribd ors and Zinc(10mg). He barely took d ors but I disolvd d zinc in water nd he tuk it, d stooling stoped.

You can take her to see d pead or google about the zinc for babies to know more. So sory, pray she gets beter pretty soon.

Wendy, babies reactions to food/milk are very different. Even if most ppl accept a brand, there may be at least a baby that may reject and react to it.
At 6mnths I startd my baby on sma, he didnt like it. I stopd and tried afain at 8mnths and no sucex. I even tried one lactogen my mum said she used in those days, no sucex but with NAN2, from 9mnths+, I can breastfeed once or twice a day...he so love it, no constipation or what have you. On the skin thing, i think you should use coconut oil. Natural coconut o, made at home. that is what i use for my baby and her skin is glowing everyday.

I second this! I make mine personaly and mix with his cream and his skin is ever glowing!! I think it also prevent spots, rashes and some other skin infections 'cause they hardly appear on his skin only once when he ate a 'fake' cereal.
