Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by itsmelex(f): 6:54pm On Jul 16, 2013
@slim05. My Doc prescribed that otrivine too for my baby( but at around 8mnths). To be sincere I was scared of puting it in his nose ooo, till today the thing is still untouched. I Just did him steaming morning and evening or anytime I notice the congestion(even if its at night) and it will clear. Somtimes after doing it, I notice 'clot' of mucor coming out from his nostril and with cutton bud I remove it easily and we'r good!

U can aswell cover her head well so around the face area is warm and this can reduce congestion.

^^^Have U tried vit C syrup (or orang)? would hav said honey but he's less than a year.
When my baby had cough doc gav antiboitics but i didnt C any effects so he gav vit C(I think the one we got was written 'vamee C' on it) and said it will clear and after two days or so it stoped. lab test showed it was viral infection...
Hope it helps, and he gets ok quickly.

^^^I dont know what nta and akpafor are ooo so, I cant say anything in that direction, am sorry. However, what crossed my mind was: have you checked if its genetic( are U or hubby 'fleshy' or 'weighty')? is her Doc concerned/worried? Have you tried some food that they say make babies add weight and grow fat?

I may not have beter sugestion, but be sure your baby is getting all nutrients that she needs, and if her weight is within the range for her age then its ok( even if she may not be increasing that much)...I think those are what should be the utmost concern.

All the best
Hey! I wnt mind a description if that nta and apkafor. ***brings out pen and notepad for learning.***
Family / Re: Why Do Some Men Run Away From Their Spouse When They Are Heavily Pregnant??? by itsmelex(f): 7:39am On Jul 10, 2013
^^^MBJ you're right. some women take advantage of the pregnancy to seek for the care they've always desired and never had but, you can't tell when its overboard as women are different. I must say NO heavily pregnant woman can stoop so low and CONVINIENTLY lace her sandals! Maybe she can slip in a slippers when you'r not around doesnt mean she cant do yanga on those fancy sandals to go out with you.

I was extra strong all thru my preg, I had to 'hide' to still do some very safe exercises cause hubby was stoping me. I had no help and did ALL my chores plus going to another state 3-4times a week! I don't want to spell all out but this did not stop me from calling hubby to buy banana for me(after just seeing it in a movie.lol), wear my panties, wash my feet, did my nails, prepared diners, etc, neither did it stop my friend from being seriously knocked down by her own preg. In fact I was cooking for her and helped bath her daughter, did her laundry with my big bele ooo.... and no she wasnt faking it!

A man, or better put, a husband should not feel over-used by his pregnant wife. She may be able to control few homones but be happy you could help out instead of seeing her as lazy.

In all, I think its a matter of the men's mind and ego! The earlier they start changing their perspetives the better it will be for their preg wives!

^^^ When did you intend to stop nursing her? I gues at 1yr right? If I were in you shoes, I'll continue giving the Isomil(she still takes that right?) until she is one then the peak 123, its jst less than a month.
However, If you still despirately want her to bossom feed, then maybe you try when she is drousy/feeling sleepy (this may not be the best as she may be wanting to nurse anytim she wantsvto sleep). In all, I wont be bothered at 11+.***WISHING I can stop by 10months!lol***
Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by itsmelex(f): 2:12pm On Jul 08, 2013
^^^wow!!!!!!! Now that was not funny at all! Thank God nothing worse happened! The question I asked after reading your post was; whose indomie was it? did she knw how it was cooked? who sent her?!!!

No I'v not had such personal experienc ooo. I dnt tell the nannies at my baby's creche when I'll be picking my child so sometimes, when I'm early I 'sneak in' on them.lol. On one of these ocassions, I was just removing my shoes outside(we go in without shoes), I heard d nanny asking a pupil(1yr+), to bring her hand bag and I saw her giving the pupils tom tom from her handbag to lick! These are children that come with food and snacks ooo.

God will continue to preserve our LO for us.

Family / Re: Your Experience During Childbirth In Nigeria by itsmelex(f): 9:27pm On Jul 07, 2013
@olamydey God is truly your help. Do you know when I was wheeled to the theater, my husband still ensured they had the right blood type in my file oh. what if I needed blood(God forbid!)

You'r right. They are still very good! I still prefer them to any other hospital in abuja(not teied zankli tho). They ensured my baby was monitored in neonatal clinic for a couple of days (because of the distress) and that gave me like two days time before I started breastfeeding. Just that they'v turned everywhere to vip and I pity the poor ppl.

God'll see all preg mothers through.

Wow! I think some medical personels should always remind themselves that a second of thier nonchalance can yield a divastating result!

My experienc was at garki hospital. They realy tried but not without some flaws and I will sugest U use a specialist/consultant to get a beter treatment

To start with the Dr that entered my medical details after the first lab tests made a mistake of writing O+ instead of B+(he kept complaining of hunger that early morning.lol), thank God I noticed it on my second visit ooo! During my antinetal visits, I kept asking questions ooo(like when is my nxt tatanus, antimalaria, scans and many oda ooo).

All my scan results wer not showing baby's weight even at 36wks! Those scan tech, gosh! it was at 36wks scan I ws complainin of pain on my navel when he was scaning and he said there's tiny fibroid there and added that "Havnt I mentioned it in your previous scans?" I shouted No!

fastforward to 39wks, My cervix had to be forced open and I had to be induced! At this point a consultant was on my case and personaly hand-took me to the tech for an elaborate and concrete scan(before the cervix opening). Infact he was there all thru asking all questions and directing the tech!

the proceedure stated in d evening and by morning my wate had broke and the induction process started. the matron that checked me about 2hrs later jst chckd how dilating I was and forgot to check my baby's heartbeat but she was praising me that I'm doing fine as its my first preg and am already 5cm dilated.

Luckily for me, about 5min later a female Dr on ward round came to check me and was almost leaving(because I was scared of that painful fingering and said matron just checked me!.lol) but said she must check the heartbeat befor leaving. And to our suprise it was difficult to get the heartbeat! the best she got was 80 meanwhile the last time was 140(or thereabout). She told her assisting Dr to try for the heartbeat and evryone kept trying. Before I knw it she was with consent for for my hubby and she wheald me to theater within seconds with oxygen on my nose which brought the heartbeat to 120. I got a great treatment from there and she didnt take chances! and within mins my baby was out alive!

Apart from some negligence they are good. In any hospital its best to just know what you should know at any time!

Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by itsmelex(f): 5:38am On Jul 02, 2013
@alenkakent, I dnt thnk most people here are peds, maybe experienced mothers, and if they are, they cant see Ur baby to examine her and knw how she is. Please take her back to the Ped, she is too tender to be doing 'try your luck'. Some babies were admited from birth cause of more complicated issues so admiting about 1wk baby is not too early.
Did U say 'the nurse said'? Talk to the Doc and be clear on this. Its your child so ask all the questions posible. I thnk they have to expose her to a form of light and MONITOR HER CLOSELY. She'l be fine. pls do the right thing! Wish her speedy recovery!

Health / Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by itsmelex(f): 2:46pm On Jul 01, 2013
^^^ true! She should pump and preserv in fridge if baby isnt hungry and breast is full. She can also get breast pad ( washable or disposabl) and can use it when need arise so as not to gt her dress wet. For me, sleeping face-up also helped reduce to pressure on the breast and that reduced the wetness of bed.

Hey, breastfeeding also helps the uterus to contracts and return to normal and this can be painful during breastfeeding too.

Congratulations!!!
