How many times did I call you? Hehehe....why the age restriction now? Ehn? What's wrong with the age restriction? There are many issues unique to the 40 something crowd which pertain to them alone and neither is it a must other ages should butt in all the time. Why catching feelings? |

@ topic
So basically what you're saying ( or trying to say) is the slaves in the places you mention had all their african families killed off or sold and this was why they could not contact their places of origin during slavery? |

black247: Google vs your PERSONAL experiences?
Interesting. Well this seems like too tough of a task for you.
FOR FUTURE READERS:
My question in the title was in other words: HAVE YOU PERSONALLY HEARD OF YOUR RELATIVES BEING TAKEN AS SLAVES?
I thought that was clear in the title. Are you unaware there are entire towns and communities consisting of returnees all over africa? This is why I say you shouldn't ignore google. |

coogar: how many of these people have you met in real life?
nairaland isn't about fake/original. who cares what you look like - just bring intelligence to the table and you are good to go!
if i want to read devotional books, i have about 5 copies of "open heavens" & "our daily bread". why would people turn social media into celestial church just because they want to appear to be spiritually deep....
that's bollocks.....
and that's exactly the reason it's not for people like me. it's surely for voyëurs like you - all you want to do all your life is to view people's pictures & peep into their lives. you probably save pictures of cute guys on facebook to aid your mästurbatory habit. Even denrele reserves his nastiest pictures solely for nairaland. Nuff said. As per your projections, well, thats your life, not everyone is like you. |

people upload their regular pictures on facebook. And yes, they still get compliments. so, i'd say facebook is more genuine than nairaland where everything and everybody is fake. as per bible verses, i guess you're one of those anti-Christ beings. lastly, when did facebook become about measuring IQ? |

podosci: Even before blacks were bought and sold like commodity in the market,,slavery has been in existence.,,,,whites and black alike were sold ,,,,the price like all commodity depends on the bergaining power and quality of goods.......althou after britain abolished the slave trade the selling of humans starting dying down but people expecialy Africans, Asians and south americans are still being bought and soled for sex and force labour so, africans are ok with buying and selling humans? |
Family › Re: Buying And Selling Of Human Beings- Is This Supposed To Be Normal? by itstpia1(op): 9:39pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
Princecalm: Where have you heard that selling and buying of humans is normal. my exact words were "is this supposed to be normal" and, "i wasnt raised to consider humans as cattle or livestock to be bought or sold". so, the question here is if you were raised differently, fill us in so we can all learn a thing or two. |

supposedly married women who are trying to get the attention of online playboys who are never serious about anything. i wonder why this comment is generating so many knee jerk reactions. the fact remains, whether married or not, some women need to learn how to separate the fictional online compliments from the genuine thing. nairaland is not facebook where people pay you compliments and mean it most of the time. and why exactly is the approval of faceless anonymous characters so important to some folks? |

The 40s generation are "straddling" some major technological shifts, as it were, they've seen so many major transformations in mass market products and they are also deep in the computer IT fields.
In Nigeria, the 40s generation marked the cessation of hostilities after the civil war, when people once again began to have some semblance of a construction environment. I wonder who was the first child born after the war. |

I wasn't raised to consider humans as cattle or livestock to be bought and sold, although I noticed boko haram did say they engage in this trade.
So, those of you who do it, or who don't consider it unusual, fill us in on the details. |

black247: Well I guess not if you dont want to know. Some say that we were like: meh, oh well..those were the slaves. I am about African and black unity, it might be painful (resentment, bitterness, shared common ignorance) - but if our unity can overthrow western supremacy, I think my research is no longer in vain!
Hope you understand. I meant should I bother posting on the thread when you have google. |

often we see nlers open threads to ask "do you remember this biscuit or that bournvita/exercise book/sandal/ whatever".
seems most of them are only interested in selling and the money they made off this age group, than anything else.
What matters are relevant or of interest to the 40s crowd, lets chat here.
No thread derailers please.
Younger than 40, the thread is not for you, and keep a civil tongue in your head as you stay off, thanks.
yes, we know its some people's dream and prayer not to reach 40, however, that does not concern others besides the individual so inclined. |
