So that means the people get prepared for the carnival because of the partial close down

What could have being done differently to make the whole carnival enjoyable to u

Firstly, i'd have a companion with me (i actually went alone). Then, i'd take along a folding chair, and an umbrella. Finally, a digital camer or a camcorder (my phone, though it really tried, it couldn't meet up the fast pace). I managed to take at least 60pics that day and that was just for one band alone.

Ehe! Least i forget, more money too

So do Cali normally stand still during the duration of the whole carnival

Well, you may not see it the way i do. Some people say it's fun and entertaining. Infact, there are those who make it a point of duty to attend it every year. One thing i can say very sincerely is that it's very colourful.

And yes, about 70per cent of Calabar stands still during this event.

you have just succeeded at changing my mind towards going to the carnival...tho I heard it was entertaining, colorful and all dat...I had really wanted to visit there until now...

Please don't be. You will love it if you're prepared. I'll advice you to go with your chair, water (although there'll be people selling those), extra battery for your snapping device and enough money.

It's a lovely experience, just that i'm a proud person and couldn't stomach the fact that while some people were sincerely and happily dancing under the sun, some (whose legs are made of rubber) were enjoying in their rides. So whose fooling who?

So Aw many kilometers did u trek from the carnival ground home and am sure it took u three days before u could recover ur lost strength........

Me have never taken mah time to watch the show but I always hear news of how interesting it is

Maybe the day u end wasn't the a lucky day for u.. .............

I don't know how many km i trekked but i can't ever do such again. Don't believe everything you hear, the stuff is just over hyped. Those who enjoy it are those who take part in it and those who like trekking

I live in Cali. I always thought i was missing out a great deal every year i didn't go to watch the carnival live. I always watched on TV. So, i made up my mind to attend last year's.

My journey began that faithful day when i left the comfort of my home and trekked under the hot sun(vehicles were prohibited along that route-the carnival route) from my house to the starting point of the carnival.

When i got there, it was a standing ministry. I stood until a good samaritan with an extra chair (which was brought from her house)offered me a sit. I took it gratefully and proceeded to relax and enjoy the show.

Or so i thought until i almost got trampled when security personnels could no longer control the excited crowd. Although i took lots of pics, i didn't enjoy the experience. I wasn't able to view the various displays. I only saw groups of people matching or dancing by in different brightly coloured costumes.

When i'd had enough, i began the painful trek back home. And vowed not to make such mistake again...except i become the first lady or a celebrity who enjoyed a luxurious, air-conditioned ride after their various displays.

Gosh! Noise pollution wan scatter my head oh... Calabar Carnival is here again. This is how i'll be 'suffering' until 27th of December. Kingtom are you amongst those noise makers?
