There is no need for invitation letter. You should know na since you have been following the thread sinc. Follow what you have in ds160 and the website. Invitation letter means nothing to them and they wnt even check.

Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about her/his posts since. The arrogance in her posts is annoying. My simple answer to this is that you should forget about US for now. There is nothing they hate more than overstaying. Yea, they stamp you in for 6months but nobody spends 5months on holiday if the job here is that important to the person. Unfortunately, it affected your wife and the kids but trust them, they are not likely to give them the visa soon. I suggest you go to another country for vacation.
If I may ask, please, what were you doing for the entire 5months? Did you work?

Good day everyone. Our visa was rejected after a 221G interview today. We are a family of 4, I, wiffy and two children and we have visited the US on vacation twice. Although i stayed for close to 5 months during my first visit while wife and children returned to Nigeria after their 3 weeks vacation due to her work and children schooling. I have my private job and have the luxury of time to myself.

We initially applied through drop box after which we received a 221g scheduled interview. Eventually we got a refusal based on strong ties as stated although I was specifically questioned on why I stayed for 5 months in the US in 2017, which I explained and that I have visited the US again after that spending less than three weeks. I was the only one that stayed for 5 months, my wife and the children spent less than 3 weeks each in their two different visits to the US and came back.

During the interview, I was interrogated on the stay, although my wife was not questioned after which the consular refused everyone without judging us differently.
Please house, kindly advise me on what to do as this is a painful experience especially for my little children. I am thinking of reapplying, should i reapply alone, or should my wife and the children reapply first, or we should all reapply together again? Please i need your various views and advise on this. Thank you

I think you should be able to go for your interview unless if you trip isn’t urgent cos if you reschedule you are not likely to have an earlier date. Just tell them you have it with another embassy, if they issue you visa, they will ask you to bring it later.

It was the way you put it that definitely made us question that 12years. I am sure the VO acted on that just 12years you mentioned it well, part of vo s reasons for the refusal. I suggest you take a break if there is nothing urgent to do in the US. If for vacation; check out some other countries and reapply later when they will consider your personal circumstances more and you will have opportunity to explain to them that he was in the UK before. My opinion.

well,my brother travelled as a PhD student.The 12 years response I gave to the question of "the last time I saw my brother?" Comprised of the years he spent in Uk for his masters and the time he relocated to the US for his PhD.He was retained at the school he graduated from and has a work permit.

How did your brother get to the US aunty?
Your mum’s maiden or married name may not necessarily be the reason for the refusal unless she maybe applied before with another husband’s name and now another name.
The issue here imo is around the fact that you haven’t seen your brother for 12years and you are going for a graduation which course shouldn’t exceed like let’s say 4years or thereabouts.

They have no business with your letter of invitation. You will apply the way you applied previously and go for interview to prove your purpose of visit.

kelEmi, you don’t even need invitation from anyone. Cos they don’t even check it. It is useless to the bearer. But if your friend will be staying with the friend, she can have her address and contact to fill in the form. However, the important question is how did that friend get to the US? This is important to the entire application.
Yes, they fill different forms but they must fill each other’s name where they ask if any other person is traveling with you and they tie up their applications in their profile when booking for an interview date.
Pay visa fee, fill Form 160 honestly and upload passport photograph. Nothing more.
Documents to take depend on your situation u r presenting to the VO BUT VOs are NOT interested in documents!! Taking your confirmation page, passport and payment receipt is importanta here.
Taking your child is your choice but if not going with you , no need filling a form too unless they ask for dependents in the form(this I can’t remember if I have seen before or not) but they are LIKELY to ask how many children you have at the interview.
Now, has your friend traveled with her family before?

The VO doesn’t even care about the invitations. Just pay, fill your DS 160 form, book your interview and read this thread

Its not about travel history's in most cases....may be will are not well composed when it comes to body languages, which it part of the interview...

All I am telling you is, get your info right. When did Trump become president, when did US embassy in Nigeria tighten up issuance of visa? It was when Canada complained that Nigerians use US visa to enter Canada illegally. Get your facts right and stop passing wrong info.

Yes, not everybody asks for discount yet it worked against some I know and heard at the interview. Dunno what you have to do to refuse discount but pls refuse at all cost.

Yes, I learnt some hospitals are cheaper, one VO said they have blacklisted some cos they still claim back this money from government. So we already know the fate of ple who will use these hospitals.
What I will say is one should ask if they r giving discount or not and refuse or just pay up.
At the end of the day, they reserve the right to issue or refuse.

Discounts? It's not everybody that asks for discount. We simply paid the amount we were told to pay since we made them know it was out of pocket. Not everybody knows about discounts.

Also I guess paying out of pocket is cheaper than using insurance and the latter has a longer cycle of payment. Then also costs in some states are cheaper than others. I know Atlanta is less (less than 10K) than NY wch is about 18K

When u say costs Shud be more than 10K, do u mean the hospital stay only or with lab, obgyn,tests and pediatrician?

Got my visa renewed.

If you used your visa for birthing, make sure you have receipts and make sure your bill was 10k upwards and you didn’t accept discount! If you fall into this, I suggest you refund the discount oh.
