Newmum0615:Congratulations!!! I had to come out of ghost mode to celebrate this. Everyday I see your post, I say a prayer for you. Thank God for answered prayers. God bless you |
joo2018: Very apt |
Divinegifts:Issuing authority is Nigeria. When inside Nigerian embassies anywhere in the world you’re on Nigerian soil innit? Seriously though place of issue is different from issuing authority. Your answer is Nigeria |
Sunmisire:Thanks |
Please is it compulsory to show tax payments for ppr application? I work for a private firm and tax is not deducted |
Tripletmom:Google Turkish evisa. You can apply before your trip. Print out the evisa emailed to you and travel with it. You can pay online with your naija card. |
Tripletmom:Send someone to their office in Nigeria to pay. It cost 24k Naira to add my baby |
Ojugunrege:I had my baby in June 2017. My Dr was Dr Z but he couldn’t take my delivery. Dr F was assigned to me. I had seen horrible reviews about him online and I got to experience this first hand. He was so nasty, I had to file an official complaint to Oakbend about him. He was very rude to me throughout my labour. I had a tear during delivery and when he was stitching me up I could feel the pain and I was reacting to the pain (I didn’t take epidural). His exact words to me were ‘Look here, I have numbed the area so I know you are not feeling any pain, if you move again, I will leave you here and walk out’. I wonder why people go to him. Maybe he was nasty to me because I wasn’t his patient or maybe he was in a bad mood but I wouldn’t advice anyone to use him knowing that he can flip at anytime. Oakbend wrote me an apology letter afterwards (who apology ep? ). My birth experience was very horrible thanks to him. P.S I’m not a newbie to childbirth. My first were twins. Had an unmedicated vaginal delivery for the twins in the U.K (no epidural) my delivery for the twins was a lot more pleasurable than the singleton birth handled by Dr F. I do not wish him on my enemy. |
sleekender:I paid $2,500 bit I think it has gone up to $2750. Google oakbend self pay rates |

In the Spirit of giving back ![]() I've been an ardent follower of this thread for a while. I'm really grateful for the wealth of information I gathered from here. I got my visa in 2015 and I used it for a one week vacation. When I got pregnant at the end of 2016, I knew I definitely wanted to have my baby in the US so I went to work immediately. I prepared like i was preparing for Jamb... lol... I decided on Oakbend and Dr Z. I did a transfer to Dr Z and sent money to a family member to pay Oakbend fees for me as I wanted to get to my POE armed with reciepts of payment. I sent a notification of Intent to both Abuja and Lagos. I got a response from Lagos asking me to contact Abuja since my visa was issued in Abuja. Abuja only sent a response containing FAQS and not even the generic response everyone seems to get. I started ticket hunting in Jan. The only price friendly airline from Abuja was Turkish air. There was a 300k gap btw Turkish and Lufthansa. I'm a relatively frequent traveller and I've flown Turkish about 4 times in the past and I actually find their service quite good so it was a no brainer for me to settle for Turkish. I flew Turkish from Abuja on the first of May at 33 weeks. Porth health fit to fly seems to be the only accepted fit to fly certificate by Turkish in abuja airport. Despite having one from Abuja clinics I was still sent to Porth health. Got their fit to fly for 2k. The flight from Abuja to Istanbul was ok. In flight entertainment was ok as well. Had a 5hr wait in Istanbul. The 5hr wait went quite fast. Got my meal voucher, had a meal, freshened up in the rest room and started heading to my gate. They didn't request a fit to fly at Istanbul. The Istanbul Houston leg was good. I had a whole row all to myself despite the flight being relatively full so I was able to sleep like I was on my bed for most part of the 13hr flight. We arrived houston at 7pm. The queue was quite short but I was directed straight to the front of the Queue (my belly is too obvious.. lol) Me: Good evening. CBP: Good evening.. passport please. CBP: where u coming from today? Me: Nigeria CBP: Are you here to have your baby? Me: Yes CBP: Place your right four fingers on the scanner please (completes the whole scanning and picture process) CBP: what do you do for a living? Me: I'm a brand Consultant CBP: when is your husband coming? Me: most likely June CBP: how much do you have on u? Me: Bleep cash CBP: is this your first child? Me: No. This is my 2nd pregnancy but will be my 3rd child. I had twins first. CBP: Did you have the twins here? Me: No, I had them in the UK. CBP:Wow you have an international family (we both laugh and he stamps my passport B2 till Nov 1st) CBP: what kind of food stuff did you bring? Me: Nigerian food stuff. CBP: Dried stuff I presume? Me: Yes CBP: You're free to go. Me:Thank you. That's how I crossed almighty Houston POE. It can only be God. No secondary Inspection. No documents or cash checked. Nothing asked about cost. I felt like I over prepared for an exam.. lol. But then again I had asked God for unmerited favour all the way so this was my prayer being answered. I'm well rested now and have my 1st appointment with Dr Z later this morning. Thanks to everyone who has kept this thread overflowing with info. |
Kween2014:Wow.. That's serious o..where did you get the new quote from? Thank God I locked the old price down by paying |
blue355:Sorry.. no info on accommodation. I'll be staying with a family member |
DrPrincess:I've paid Oakbend but not with Form A. Sent cash to someone in the US to make the payment for me. To the best of my knowledge Oakbend doesn't accept transfers. |
PrinceAdeAde:Dr D aka Dr D Z. I'm not sure we're allowed to quote their full names here. Google obgyns affiliated to Oakbend. That's how I was able to deduce his full name from his initials used on this forum. I'm a June mum. I paid him via form A last week. He will only release acceptance letter and his bank details after you've paid a non refundable deposit of $200. He will however deduct that from your full bill. I had to get someone in the US to make that deposit for me then i made the balance payment via form A. You can pm me if you need more details. |
Awesome mamas and papas.. I hail o.. I've been a silent reader for a while digesting all the info. I already have a B1/B2 visa which I've used for the original purpose of vacation. I'm due in June and plan on using Oakbend and Dr Z. I would have loved to use Dr E considering that she's cheaper but as I've learnt on this forum that she only accepts patients on arrival and I want to pay hospital bill and Dr's bill before leaving naija. Ive decided to go with Dr Z. I've already sent the money to a friend in Yankee to sort out the needful once I'm able to register. My problem is I've sent emails both to Dr Z and Oakbend over 2 weeks ago and still no response. Pls pple who used oakbend how did you succeed in registering with them before leaving naija? Pls help. Thanks |
