How do you apply through Nairaland is Nairaland an application portal?

cc

lalasticlala crazyman I think this deserves front page so that job seekers can learn from other people's experience in job hunting.

Applying through nairaland simply means that I saw the job advert on nairaland.

@ jeflondon I hope you've enjoyed yourself.

when I said 'almost immediately after nysc', I meant to say, I got my first job almost immediately after NYSC and after working a year at my first job, i left the place for another.

I definitely will ignore other part of your comment, you are not worth it.

Best regards.

I got my first and second job by simply applying through nairaland, no connections, I only applied and convincingly showed them that I am the best for the positions I had applied for. Both took averagely two months for the recruitment exercise, three stages each.

Mr OP, my kind advice is Simple

Don't apply for online jobs alone, go out to places n drop ur CV........Ur inability to get a job is cuz of ur 2.2 grade, its really a killing factor.

Online jobs are usually crowded dat dey tend to take on d best qualified ones(2.1 and 1st class)

Go to some companies not necessary big ones n apply E.g Spectranet, OLX etc

Networking matters alot......or better still go to Agencies or support solution companies like SOL, ICSL n VLA

Dey help tho........for more info, hala me

People like you are short sighted, what you think about yourself doesn't apply to someone else, I have a 2.2 in mech engr and I am on my second job, almost immediately after my nysc.
To the op, don't give up, change your strategy, pick up anything you enjoy doing and don't look at the money yet, it's gonna be a stepping stone for you later. Also, all those big companies n.a. waste of time if you are targeting them, look into smaller enterprise, companies that have about an 100 staff strength, you will be surprised.
All those big companies have millions who are applying for their job adverts.
Best of luck.

@Airlord2020, I have been riding for over 10 years in Lagos, and believe me nothing is much more pleasurable than riding considering the bad traffic conditions in Lagos that you get stuck in with a car. It does not have to be risky if you learn to do it right and make sure you wear the necessary gear for safety.
Their are school in Lagos where you can learn how to ride properly and safely, and the best part is that they provide you the bike to learn with. and their are also places where you can get the right safety kits as well. see information for both below.
Believe me, it is not as dangerous and scary as people term it to be if you do it right. Se some info for you below

1: For a riding school visit www.rideeasy.org
2: For quality kits and gears visit www.metallichorses.com.

Cheers

Guy, I hope you are still alive. grin

I love bikes, even though I never buy one before, I am actually considering one badly right now. But the moment your family and loved ones hear, you no go dit think am again.
For all the reason you stated, it is a very good opinion I'd you live in Lagos to get a bike, I live at berger and work at VI, it is just about 45mins trip no traffic.
But in Lagos, everyone is mad. How I go put my life at the mercy of a mad person?.

I will still buy one soon anyway.
How Much is the training school, let's start from there.

I have replied u. May I ask what your passion is
Career / Re: The Best And Most Lucrative Engineering Course To Study In Nigeria by iyisco2001(m): 12:50pm On Jul 31, 2015
Ok, let me start by saying, so far you've chosen engineering, almost all courses are lucrative.
Be it electrical, mechanical, computer, chemical and civil. I'll stop there. In Nigeria, those aforementioned courses/profession are the only popular and goes with our status for now(technology wise).
You have biomedical, polymer, material etc.
All those 5 lines or feild mentioned, everyone of them will get you where you want, you just need to choose your passion.
Do you love building and construction, go for civil.
Do you love computer programming, engineering, mechatronics, go for computer.
Do you love communication installation, troubleshooting, energy etc, go for electrical.
Looking into industries, oil and gass, chemical etc, go for chemical.
Finally, do you love automobile, machines, structures, technical duties, installation, maintenance, energy and lot more, choose mechanical engineering.

All these courses are very lucrative(finish with a good grade and God help u with good career).

Now, some of these courses are so that, you can work almost everywhere and anywhere. As an engineer, you could diversify to any engineering feild you have the necessary skills of. I for one am an engineer but I work as a procurement and maintenance personnel(from automobile, building, etc).
Follow your passion, finish with good grade and find your rhythm. You'll succeed with God by your side.

I hope this helps.
Best of Luck.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Cost Of Running Masters In Engineering In A Federal University by iyisco2001(m): 8:22am On Jul 31, 2015
adonismuller:
thanks man. Are you an engineering student? How much do you think project can cost?
Yes, I am an engineer by profession. Honestly, project cost can't be fixed, it all depends in your supervisor as agabal23 said. But I still believe or assume that everything could go for 300k + 100k(variably for project).
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Cost Of Running Masters In Engineering In A Federal University by iyisco2001(m): 8:16am On Jul 31, 2015
agabaI23:
How did you arrive at 300k?

The cost of a masters training will depend on
1. Tuition
2. Time of completion
3. Type project

Tuition is a constant which can increase in multiples of 2, 3 if you allow your programme to run more than the minimum number of sessions allowable for your programme. For instance, if you do not finish under 1 year, you will pay for the next academic session.

Engineering projects are capital intensive. The cost of getting your materials and the cost of the materials; the cost of seminars and a whole lot.

You can limit this cost if have a good proposal and a good supervisor meaning that you know what you are doing. However there is no guarantee that your experiment will work out in first attempt. Go into research/academics if it is your passion if not .......

Goodluck

Ok, I humbly accept, but, from an idea of unilag and UI, your tuition won't be more than 200grand, even with extra semester(unilag is 90k per session, UI is around 120 first session, 60 second session), projects all depend on your supervisor as you have rightly pointed out. But most time, the 100k plus covers for it all. Thanks for the criticism though.

thanks a lot bro, but please the 300k is it for just the fees or both fees and othe expenses.

Once again thanks for your contribution
It will cover tuition and others, but project may not be inclusive.

You really need to decide yourself, can u handle business, then go for it. Msc will cost you around 300k, about certification in civil engineering, I am not really familiar. But, try and see if you can get internship to gain some work experience. Remember, only you know your capabilities, in this kind of situation, only you can advise yourself, best of luck.
