Unless it’s a scholarship in Germany, or a first class, getting a visa appointment date now is very difficult. My friend started her masters since September last year, and she’s still in Nigeria because they’ve not given her visa appointment date. She’s going to withdraw from the masters soon, since she can’t physically be in Germany. Norway visa is even more sure than Germany, and almost same process of blocked account or sending to the school. If you’ve the money, go for UK.

I talked with someone who knows a lot about traveling and told him I really want to move urgently and be in school by early next year, I had Germany in mind because of the tuition free and also Canada(was rejected last year though) but he told me if I want to move urgently I should consider UK and if I have finances and the visa is more sure to get than Canada and Germany

If possible, check your school’s last day to come to the UK, my school is resuming September 27th, and last day of resumption for my course, is October 11th. It’s usually on their website, if you don’t see it, send a mail to them so it’ll help you plan better.

Should the proof of funds for both of us be in my spouse’s account, in my account or the respective proof of funds be in our individual accounts.

Standard application takes 15 working days, that’s 3 weeks. So it’s within the normal time frame.

My husband and I submitted our application on the 29th of July (Standard), till Yesterday we didn't hear anything, Yesterday was the 15th working day or 16th sef if we can count biometrics day as part of it. We called them this midnight and the call Operator said decision was made Yesterday. I am curious, why did it take a full 15/16 days to make decision for a standard application when we didn't even receive a non-straightforward mail. It is so frustrating. I'm also really worried, has anyone experienced this before?

Hi,
I may not be in a position to advise you on this, as I am yet to do a placement (I'm resuming this September).
However, my advice is on what I know for now.

Most Masters courses in the UK are usually 1 year, however there are some courses that comes with the option of placement (1 year extra) if you decide to choose a course with placement (the placement year isn't compulsory though) that will be making it a two year course. That is, 1 year studies (lectures etc) and the other year placement ( on field, organisation etc, depending on your course).

In the event, that you are unable to get a place to do your placement, this is usually not an issue.

The school will notify UKBI (I don't know if I'm right with the name though) to notify them that your course is now for a year, so your study visa will be adjusted accordingly.

As advised earlier based on the information I gathered on YouTube, it is true that placement may be hard to find but if you start applying on time, the better.

like 6 months before your placement start date to big companies and 2 to 1 month before the placement start date for small companies/organisations.

You have to check with your school to advise you, to be sure the company/organisation you choose is acceptable...

The school usually support/guide students through CV writing, interview process etc.


In summary people still get placement.
It is important to start on time and not wait till about the end of your course.


If you are not able to get a placement year or you decide not to go with the placement year, there is absolutely no need to worry.

After successfully completing your course, you can apply for the graduate route visa, the PSW (Post study Work Visa) its for 2 years.

I hope this helped a bit.

Let me break it down if your course duration states 1 year, you’ll get 1 year on your visa stamp, and 2 years post study work visa, making 3 guaranteed years in the UK, but 1 year and maybe a few months is what will be stamped on your passport initially. If your course states two years, you get a total of 4 guaranteed years in the UK, including work PSW visa. Some schools will have the option for placement during your application, while some schools will give you the option of placement while already attending the school. The latter is usually 12 months stated, and they might issue you another CAS while in the UK, for student Visa extension if you’ve successfully secured placement. If no placement is secured in the former, you’ll be moved to advance research because your course is 2 years, before you can graduate. I’ve attached a screenshot of my course with placement, this is the duration written as well as the year of entry. I hope you understand now?

It's best practice. You can never tell if or when your SOA will be verified. I confirmed that my SOA was verified with the Bank on the 12th of August, same day I received a non-straightforward email. I received a Decision Made email a few days later further to a Paided Email.

I stay in Benin as well, and I used UBA. It’s under 48hrs with good rates

Nothing to worry about, it’s the same thing for me. Just make sure when you’re filling your application, you put the one on your tb certificate as your former address, while the one on the bank, as your new address. That’s all

What stage have you gotten to in your application? If you’ve gotten CAS or you’ve paid deposit, and your pof is ready, you can meet up with September 2021 session.

I’m just deciding this week to make a student visa application and I understand that September intake is already late my question is must i wait till next year to apply for the September 2022 intake or there’s possibility of other intakes before September cos I think mostly Canadian schools have several intakes in a year.

GCU is saying that for september starts, it should be done online.

Only courses like engineering , medicine , nursing etc should get a visa and come over..the rest start online and get cas later.

I have contacted the school rep (Aberdeen) concerning the Visa application without deposit and she said I dont have problem since the school did not ask me to pay deposit to get CAS. So I'm thinking of applying first and when my visa is out, I will print another updated statement for my dependant to apply. I hope it fly that way.

For GCU, I will have to withdraw their admission and seek refund of my paid deposit that I'm sorry, no longer interested.

Go to google and type “how to send a paid mail or paid call to UKVI nairaland” and the the relevant page on this thread will pop up. The question has been answered over and over again.

I applied for a course with placement as well, do not be worried about this, because the school will guide you on how to get these placements. But one key thing I’ve learnt, is to start your applications early and tailor your CV to each job you’re applying for. My school has an option for advanced research, if a student is unable to get placement.

You can have the address corrected in IOM, although the address doesn’t matter. However, the pof is the most important. It’s better you pay it to the school, so they issue you another CAS. Although, I understand you don’t want to be in the same situation you’re in currently with GCU, in the probability that Aberdeen delays in sending a new CAS, but that’s your only option asides adding the money and starting your pof count afresh. Have you confirmed if it’ll be possible to get a refund from GCU?

Hello everyone, please I need an advice from Justwise and other gurus in the forum. I have unconditional offer from GCU and University of Aberdeen, I have paid tuition deposit to GCU for over 3 weeks now and my POF has matured since 20th of july, since then 3 weeks ago, I have been mailing the GCU requesting for CAS but no response uptill now.
Just yesterday I sent the same POF statemen to university of Aberdeen and they confirmed it that yesterday and gladly issued me CAS statement this morning without tuition deposit or pre-CAS interview.
My question now is can I apply for visa with the TB result carrying glasgow adress? And my POF is 1.5m below the required amount for me and my dependant (wife). I have the 1.5m that I can pay to the school but I'm afraid as it may not reflect in the CAS statement before I apply for visa. Is there a way I can manage using the same POF and TB result for visa application. So that I will just request for refund of my deposit from GCU. Thank you

You’re good to go, provided your pof do not go below the required funds needed for visa application. What he meant was that, your first and last day transaction should reflect on your statement. That’s, 1st day of the 28th days and last day of the 28th days to be on the safer side.
