Christianity Etc › Atheist Sees Miracle In Fuel Scarcity, Gets Confused! by JackBizzle(op): 4:21pm On Mar 24, 2016 |
Yesterday, I could not stop having a sheepish smile on my face as I drove home. What happened to me was a complete surprise. Here is the story; ================== I ran all over Lagos mainland looking for petrol to buy in my car. From 6 am I went from Magodo to Ikeja to Idimu but no luck- all the stations selling petrol were full with long queues. I was depressed and alarmed- my tank was almost empty of fuel and the car could die at any moment. I wandered the streets of Idimu defeated and emasculated. I was just waiting for my car to die.
I got tired of wandering aimlessly and I stopped at an empty petrol station. I sat down thinking of my life and why I was born a Nigerian. I wandered why I made the decision to leave Europe and relocate to this bastaard country. Then I took a look the the petrol station and thought if there was a God, there would be people at this filling station and I would be the first to get petrol. Lo and behold, not up to a minute passed before the station manager and pump attendants came out to start selling petrol!
I was the first person to buy petrol and I bought 15,000 naira woth of petrol in my car and some jerrycans. I was so happy that I bought so much petrol. But then again, did God answer my prayers?
Yes, did God answer an atheist's prayer? If God did answer my prayers, which God is it? I have a sticker on my car from the catholic church, so it could be Yahweh. I have a keyholder with the spaghetti monster (God of the pasta religion), so it could be Him. I bought my car from a muslim who said that the car would take me on special journeys "InshAllah", so it could be Allah.
So, here I am sitting in front of my laptop, ps4, hd tv with only my boxers on wondering which God blessed me.

Joshthefirst: they aren't always contradictory They are mostly (at least 50%) contradictory. -Do you accept Joseph Smith as the last prophet of God? -Do you wear special holy underwear as the mormons do? -Do you have another holy book like the book of mormon? -Does America have a religious significance in your christianity? |

Joshthefirst: wrong Your protestant form of christianity is different from mormon christianity, is it not? So why is she wrong in saying that there are contradictory revelations? cc cloudgoddess |

winner01: The same christianity that propelled the abolition of those evil practices?
Look, You dont have to side with secularism. None of those countries is an atheist state. You can also call Nigeria an islamic state because she has more number of muslims. You are right- they are not "atheistic" countries. They are secular countries with a significant amount of atheists. However, it still shows that religion is not a serious factor when it comes to national progress. The abolition of slavery also had secular influences. And secondly, if someone set your house on fire but later ended the fire, does that make the person a good person? Why did christian Europe/America involve themselves in slave trade and colonialism at first? winner01: Saudi-arabia is not doing well economically? interesting. Wow, so if there are 100 people in a village but 10 are rich and 90 are poor, does that mean that the village is rich? Saudi Arabia is not near the 10 most developed countries or strongest economies- they manufacture nothing, provide no special service except pilgrimage to muslims. They are nothing but oil. winner01: If You equate irreligion to atheism or do not know that there is a surge in the number of christians in south korea or do not know that south korea is not an atheist country. Then you aren't even worthy of anyone's attention.
Ranked by who? The same people that ranked Nigeria as economically progressive? You do not deserve anyone's time. Nigeria is not a religious country? You are arguing with the ranking? You, a Nigerian that knows that there are churches and mosques at every corner? Nigeria is religious by every study, every criteria and by law. Guy, dont be ignorant |

bxcode: Some people actually don't know that true Christianity is not a religion but a way of life. Religion has more often than not been used to coerce people's mind and make them do things which is totally against the true nature of God whom they are trying to have access to. Until people learn that you can't have access to God using a set of man made rules and practices the better for them. If christianity is not a religion but a way of life then football is not a sport but a way of kicking a ball. |

KingEbukasBlog: What kind of bs response is that .
1. There are only 3 recognized countries that practice state atheism - Vietnam , China and North Korea . These countries are intolerant of religious beliefs and practices . You can get arrested for practicing religion in these countries - that's a total abuse of human rights [North Korea] .
2. Secularism is not atheism . The nascence of secularism began in the Church . Theists majorly are secularists .
3.UK is now becoming religious due to proliferation of Muslims in the country . The preponderance of faith schools in Britain is very significant
4. Communism promotes atheism as a fundamental tenet , so its illogical to say atheism still has anything to do with religion . Karl Marx, the father of Communism, once said that "religion is the opium of the people". Lenin who popularized Marx's view so religion as negative to human development . So communist states make use of Marxism–Leninism ideology - this makes them atheistic and anti religion .
Soviet Union practiced this at its best . Inflicting pain and suffering to the religious people - wickedness and inhumane punishments to the recalcitrant ones
5. Saudi Arabia has the 10th lowest poverty rate in the world - 5.6 million Saudi Arabians are poor out of 28.8 million . The rich are preponderant too . Taiwan is first - very much diversified in religion .Followed closely behind is Malaysia ( Islam & Christianity )
6. Nigeria is not a religious country . Its a superstitious one , like China 1) No country today practices "state atheism". It does not exist in this world today. A common descriptor for North Korea, China, Vietnam etc is communism. If you read the wikipedia article on state atheism, you would notice that it is written in past tense. Soviet union is no more a country. Your theory is outdated. There are hardly any scholarly journals for "state atheism". It is a useless descriptor. There is communism- a well researched political system. 2) Secularism is not religion or religious- it is a separation of church and state. Yes, it is not atheism but it removes religion from government policies. The countries I mentioned as the top 5 developed countries are not only secular but have a signiifcant number of atheists and also, religion has little effect on their daily life. 3) The UK more religious? You must be joking. I take it that you do not read about the UK and you have never been there. Every year, the number of atheists/agnostics grow, every year they strip the power of the church of England, every year they make new milestones on gay rights. The faith schools that you are praising have been investigated and are now under heavy regulation- they have lost funding and they cant force religion on any student. Faith schools are now at a standstill. 4) You can be atheist and still religious- ergo Buddhism. Communism is still a state religion. God and the church are replaced by worship of the state. Do you see any Koreans or Chinese talk badly of their country on TV? Them born them? 5) Bullshite. Saudi has an ever-increasing poverty level. I refuse to accept the propaganda by Arabian media. The report is not corroborated by any other source. We can even ignore the poverty in Saudi to look at the gross human rights violations and the backwardness towards women- is that a country you should be promoting? I would love to see the studies on poverty that ranks Saudi Arabia so highly. 6) Nigeria is not a religious country? Keep deceiving yourself. Maybe christianity and islam are not religions, clown. |

Born2Freak: You and your atheism. The crazy thing is that I used to be a very strong christian when I joined nairaland but now, I am something close to a deist. I believe in God but I doubt that he is the one that is represented in churches nowadays. I still go to church but I don't feel any spirituality there.
I distinctly remember reading posts from deepsight, TheHomer and logicmind. They changed my perspective on things. -Nairaland religion section; turning christians away from religion since 2008. The guys you mentioned are legends. Anyhoo, its rare to meet an irreligious babe, so welcome |

I left the chatbox for 4 days and see how it died quickly.
Now, clowns like Joshthefirst and Reyginus will claim that i'm obsessed with ishilove. Why did she leave the chatbox once I went?
Some people can't just think. I fear for Nigeria if it can be producing medical doctors as dull as Joshthefirst.
Waiting for Reyginus to argue against evidence as clowns usually do. |

He gets to that very point where the Logic of God and Everything is palpable but somehow it eludes him and he returns to the state of confusion Logic of God? God is not logical. You can't arrive at God existing through logic. Don't confuse your sophist arguments for logic. Why do you mock and dodge when debating atheists? You never answer a question straight |

sukkot: my bros musKEETO i troway salute Sir. we remain loyal. and with regards to the bible verse i supplied, its called sarcasm. the LORD is making a sarcastic speech with the hidden message being ' religion is garbage '. meaning if you want to practice any religion just be a righteous person and help the needy and i will accept that as the only religion i endorse. its a sarcastic verse underlining the uselessness of organized religion. so there was nothing contradictory in me saying the bible is anti-religion and then supplying the verse which tells you sarcastically what religion is to God frank317: Seriously bro, are u a clown or something? Christians, pay your tithes, It's another avenue God uses to heap blessings on you. ^^^ This is someone that is still a student and does not have 100% adult responsibilities. How could you possibly claim to be a witness to tithes? Say no to drugs Say no to cocaine Say no to Jesus. They all contain brain damaging side effects |
