Good day nairalanders, I need to buy a new phone and I'll be needing a suggestion or two. I intended to buy the Tecno Camon 18 but started developing cold feet due to complaints of heat (I see it as a sign the processor is being stressed) during usage. Do help me with other good alternatives.


Been hearing about OPPO phones and eyeing the OPPO A96 but I have never used one and I think that model may be out of my intended budget.


Factors I'm considering in order:
1.) Processing Power: I need a phone that can multitask and handle multiple applications without hanging or crashing. Most important requirement.

2.) Battery: Caused by Nigerian factor. Should be able to last a day or more on heavy usage.

3.) Camera: Not so important but should be okay at least

4.) RAM/ROM: 4GB+ of ram. As an Oliver Twist, I wouldn't mind more.

5.) Network: Can I get a 5G phone within my budget as with all going well phone should serve for 2-4years. This will be a plus

6.) Any other important factors you recommend. I'm not a flashy person, just need a durable phone with quality performance


Budget: #80,000 to #120,000

I need suggestions on the phone I can buy. My budget is between 65k and 70k.

My current Infinix S5 (2GB/32GB) takes me through Hell every day: well, it hangs almost every time. I noticed that I can't even multitask on it. For instance, I can't use an app such as Clubhouse and WhatsApp at the same time; play music and use Chrome at the same time without interruptions. In fact, videos don't play well on it again.

Here are what I have in mind:

- The phone must be at least 5000mAh.
- The phone must be at least 4GB RAM.
- The phone must be at least 64GB.

I had two options: buy a used iPhone or buy a good Android phone. If I buy an iPhone, I'll lose the freedom I have with Android: there are some apps I use that are available for only android devices. Also, I don't want to buy an Android phone that will hang like this nonsense I'm using.

I suggest you wait one month, go back to the station, claim you want to take something from the phone to find out if the phone is still in their custody,
When buying midrange or budget phones, it’s best to buy them new.
I buy used phones, but it has to be a flagship straight from U.S, and you can always run a quick IMEI check to see if it was reported lost or stolen.
Apparently, some midrange or budget phones don’t have these features, so you have to shine your eye.

It will if you uninstall core android system apps. But most proprietary apps from transmission can be removed safely. It's also recommended to have a backup before removing any system app.
