BusinessRe: Coldstone Creamery Is Trying To Cover Up A Theft At Their Lekki Outlet by Jaggiey:

If it was a church your item got stolen would you come online to rant? It baffles me how people blame others for their own irresponsibility. 'I left my bag', 'I left my phone'. Who does that? I'm not absolving coldstone of their poor manner of handling the case, but please next time be responsible.byou can't leave your personal items without someone looking after it. Even in church!!!
I hear your argument but if you were the victim, what would you do? I am sure the aggrieved noted in his narration that they as a couple were the only customers in the place at the time. Fairly ask yourself or consider if they wouldn't have acted differently should there be other customers in the place. The context of their action must not be glossed over.

Again, should we ignore the fact of a theft because you think it is the owner's fault?

Should we ignore the untoward behaviour of staff of eateries or other public places in the name of customer's omission?

Should we ignore their non-compliance with basic standards like having a functional CCTV or customer complaint and crisis management? if the CCTV is not working, how are you sure the the fire extinguisher is working or present? Or if they have a muster point or emergency exit? It may expose other issues of security and safety.

Think about these things. No need to justify the ills in our society. When we encourage events as this, then we do not have a moral high ground to condemn our corrupt politicians because ultimately they emerge from among us and if they have been spared crooks, they will become bold treasury looters.

Wait!
First and foremost, I admire the way you write, it shows you are educated.
Secondly, you sound rich, and I believe you are.
But what I don't understand is bringing this to a public forum after reporting to the Police! Why is everybody suddenly trying to get sympathy from the public at the detriment of others? Truth be told, what those guys Coldstone Creamery were trying to do was just ''playing safe'', and you should have given them reasonable time even before reporting to the police.
Sometimes, if not all of the times, I wonder why SOME Nigerians commenting on the social media lack empathy and are really insensitive. I wonder if it is borne out of many years of negative experiences or just some ill ingrained in the DNA. It is my opinion that when people cannot assuage the feelings of others in distress, it is no good making it worse with reckless comments. No offense but I cannot understand how " being educated and rich" is a crime or diminishes your right to redress. I also wonder if reporting a matter to the police makes it subjudice and you cannot comment on it any more when it is not in the law court.

Honestly, I believe people should offer solutions rather than castigate GENUINE victims.

Tell us what you would have done rather than spitefully adding insults to injury. People should learn to put themselves in other people's shoes and not form the infallible wisest on earth. Even Albert Einstein could be wrong on some matters.
BusinessRe: Coldstone Creamery Is Trying To Cover Up A Theft At Their Lekki Outlet by Jaggiey:
Since they have acted irresponsibly, put them in the eye of the social media. Send this narration to Instablog, LindaIkeji and Bellanaija. They will never believe what hits them.

Also get a contact to their head office. If possible their CEO's contact.

Do not back down until your case is redressed and you have been duly compensated even with a public apology. I deeply feel your pulse.

If your do not make a headway locally, since they are a franchise, contact their international office...+1 866-464-9467 (customer care line). It was what I did when I had an issue with Airfrance just this last December with a case of a missing bag. The pressure will come all the way from the top.

Sad news but no loss. Insurance has it covered.

Nigerians should learn to avoid sentimental comments without facts. Not all mishaps arise as a result of wrong doings or ill-gotten wealth. There are smart and hardworking individuals who splurge themselves as a reward for toiling hard and smart. If individuals would go far, it is important not to envy or speak ill of other successful individuals. Positive energies always attract same. So let us always stay positive and think well of others.
PoliticsRe: Lies, Deceit And The Many Reasons I Want Obiano Out – Peter Obi by Jaggiey: 10:11am On Oct 23, 2017
It would be nice have people offer comments and critiques from the position of facts and not hear say or sentiments. It may be hard to sometimes separate sentiments from politics but people must try. The reason is simple, for us as a people to move forward, we have to be able to distill the truth from lies, challenge wrong doings, hold our leaders accountable etc. Once they(leaders) realise that we are that smart, knowledgeable and less gullible, they can and will respect us, do the work for which we elected them i.e. govern well and make our lives more comfortable, better than they met it.

I am not from Anambra and I have not been there to see the squalour but I can reasonably judge from Obi's detailed interview that facts do not lie. People with the contrary opinion should bring their facts to challenge the position. He has been out of office for a bit, he still has his facts and to the best of my knowledge I have not heard any challenge. In certain quarters, he is considered as a reference point for sanity and good governance. I think we then must move beyond the arguments of godfatherism but see the substance of the issue and avoid misleading a lot of impressionistic or less informed individuals who hope to get insights from this platform.

While not saying Governor Obiano is guilty or not, let him defend himself with facts, let his supporters provide reliable evidence or verifiable facts for supporting him and those who oppose him should do the same.

It is by speaking the truth and standing for the right that we can liberate ourselves and move forward as a people.

This is my one Naira opinion.
EducationRe: What Is The Difference Between Industrial Chemistry & Chemical Engineering by Jaggiey: 9:55am On Oct 16, 2017
Hi,

I found this on the internet and I hope it could help a bit. Moreover, I think you should personally also search online as some of the answers people have offered on this platform appear not to have addressed your question or, even worse, created more confusion:

What’s the difference between an Industrial Chemist and a Chemical Engineer?

Industrial chemists and chemical engineers work closely together. The industrial chemist is a scientist and is more concerned about the actual chemicals and synthesis while the chemical engineer has a broader role that looks at the processes around manufacturing. While an industrial chemist will look at the science behind transferring small scale chemical reactions to large industrial scale, the chemical engineer will be concerned with the whole process of getting it done in the safest, most economical way possible. (source:https://www.engineering.unsw.edu.au/chemical-engineering/careers/is-industrial-chemistry-right-for-me)

A lay man's view: An Industrial Chemist is a chemist focusing on studying and making/modifying chemical compounds used in an industrial production. On the other hand, the Chemical Engineer is an engineer that designs models, processes, operations, systems and machines for chemical production whether in an industrial setting or else where for efficiency, ease and safety.

Let me say again, please do more on internet search for a deeper, simpler and clearer insights on the differences in both roles and functions.
PoliticsRe: CGPI Names El-rufai Governor Of The Month (June) by Jaggiey: 1:22pm On Jul 02, 2015
The idea of performance measurement is very welcomed. It should ideally spur a healthy rivalry for result-oriented and good governance. However, the CGPI misses the point and I doubt if it will make a dent. At first, I was excited until read the parameters used; really subjective and in no way relevant to judge excellence. How do you objectively measure readiness for instance? How do you quantify or adjudge innovation? We would like to see measuring election promises with concrete actions; although too early to see much under 60 days:

1. It would be nice to see a list of the number of roads repaired and/or constructed with specific kilometers;
2. It will be nice to measure security in terms of frequency of violence, bombing, armed robbery attack etc;
3. It will be exciting to know how many court cases have been fairly concluded, criminals tried;
4. It will be nice to hear how much recovery of embezzled funds have been made;
5. It will be nice to have a statistics of new jobs made available to unemployed graduates and unskilled/semi-skilled labourers.
6. It will be great to see the results of economic empowerment programmes instituted.
7. It will be wonderful to know the number of "real" farmer granted soft loans, provided with equipment or supplied fertilizers.
8. It will be creative to itemize the innovatively grown internally generated revenues.
9. Among others it will be good to know the population of pupils and students in school, provided with texts and schools' laboratory upgrades.
10. It will be nice to have records of process abuses or compliance.
11.It will good to also know about public hospitals and health centres stocked with drugs, provided with rare and expensive medical equipment, nurses/doctors sent on training; In addition, the number of citizens benefiting from free medicare.

These are some of the few parameters I consider relevant among some others that you can add to the list. CGPI can improve and strength its good intention by focusing on matters as this.

Pharmacy and pharmacology portal
Pharmaklog.png
Welcome to the Pharmacy and Pharmacology Portal! The purpose of this page is to organize many of the pharmacology and drug-related articles on Wikipedia, to highlight some of the best articles, and to point out some of the recent activities and developments of WikiProject Pharmacology. Please see our medical disclaimer for cautions about Wikipedia's limitations.

Pharmacology (in Greek: pharmacon (φάρμακον) meaning remedy, and logos (λόγος) meaning science) is the study of how substances interact with living organisms to produce a change in function. If substances have medicinal properties, they are considered pharmaceuticals. The field encompasses mechanisms of drug action, drug composition and properties, interactions, toxicology, therapies, medical applications, and antipathogenic capabilities.

Pharmacy (from the Greek φάρμακον = remedy) is a transitional field between the health sciences and the chemical sciences, as well as the profession charged with ensuring the safe use of medications. Traditionally, pharmacists have compounded and dispensed medications based on prescriptions from physicians. More recently, pharmacy has come to include other services related to patient care, including clinical practice, medication review, and drug information. Some of these new pharmaceutical roles are now mandated by law in various legislatures. Pharmacists, therefore, are drug therapy experts, and the primary health professionals who optimize medication management to produce positive health outcomes.

Kapseln.JPG
The field of pharmacy can generally be divided into three main disciplines:

Pharmaceutics concerns on how to convert medication and drugs to suitable drug dosage forms.
Pharmaceutical Sciences includes pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry and pharmacology.
Pharmacy practice concerns dispensing medication correctly. In the late 20th century, this field has developed into hospital pharmacy and clinical pharmacy. All of these fields are concentrated on optimizing patient care.
Inside every branch of pharmacy are many specialized branches related to many scientific disciplines. This makes pharmaceuticals related to the majority of pure and applied sciences. For example, medicinal chemistry can be divided into: ADME, bioavailability, chemogenomics, drug design, drug discovery, enzyme inhibition, mechanism of action, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, pharmacophore perception, Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships, and Structure-Activity Relationships.

Biology (including molecular biology and biochemistry), physiology, organic chemistry, microbiology, parasitology, and also botany are all related in some way to the pharmaceutical sciences. Recently, the field of drug discovery and drug design has developed with new technologies invented in other fields, such as bioinformatics, cheminformatics, computational chemistry, genetics, pharmacogenomics, and proteomics.

=50+50-97=3.
Refund:
Debt to Dad= 50-1= $49
Debt to Mom= 50-1= $49
Total debt= 49+49=$98
Cost of shirt=$97
Balance with u = $98 - $97=$1
Nothing is missing. You can only add likes e.g assets + assets or liabilities+liabilities.

There are 40 square boxes in the image:

4 by 4 sq =1
3 by 3 sq =4
2 by 2 sq =9
1 by 1 sq =18
0.25 by 0.25 =8

so no of sq = 1+4+9+18+8 = 40.

FamilyRe: Children Calling Their Father By His Name by Jaggiey: 4:21pm On Nov 15, 2013
Culturally wrong by Nigerian standard. However, personal dispositions may influence how it is handled. If the father in question sees nothing wrong and is not upset, we then cannot cry more than the bereaved. Naming calling may not necessary equate the children disrespecting their father. Infact, it could draw them closer. Perhaps, overtime the children may develop their values and stop calling their father by name. At an early stage, they may just repeat what they hear their mother call the man. Kids learn by observation. Personally in my view, it is odd to my system. May be I belong to the old skool...

My submission.

For me, it is a function of one's pocket, the wife's health and the convenience of both partners. It is not a league's thing. It is not a matter of even pleasing your parents or societal expectation. If I can afford to nuture and excellently train only a child, so be it. But I think if I have all the money in the world, I would not exceed four(4). On a lighter side, most employers only cater for four(4) children in their policies.
RomanceRe: I Cheated On My Husband And I Plan To Continue by Jaggiey: 2:37pm On May 02, 2013
I have read the lead story and the claim of "Happy story". My head is bowed in shame as I see the level of depravity. Adultery is never good or honorable under any guise. There is no justification. The one who commits this does it to his/her own hurt. My reasoning is this:

If you enter a marriage with a cheat, the cheat does not deserve you. He/she may cause you pain and heartbreak by this. I feel the best is to opt out by separation. You are not under burden or any bondage to stay. That way you may seek help for God to help you in the right direction either to re-marry or stand apart. To attempt to stay and compete in the adulterous act with your spouse means you attempt to destroy yourself and children. You are not only answerable to your spouse but also to God. Fear He who can destroy the body and the soul. Consider this, what if the act leads to your death. Would you have died for nothing, lived a wasted life because of your spouse?

Being honest with yourself, you are not really happy. You are just excited that your spouse has no monopoly of committing this atrocity. A wise one considers the end result and not act on the spur or pain of the moment.

Dear friend and other readers, I pray God help you to choose the part of life and salvage your life and those of you four kids. I feel your pain but it is not sufficient to follow this route to destruction.
EducationRe: A Thread For Finance And Economics Majors by Jaggiey: 3:10pm On Mar 19, 2013
@ZICO: I still try to understand the logic of your argument. However, I can say this. For the energy companies into oil exploration(Upstream) such as Shell, Agip-Naoc, Exxon Mobil, Addax Exploration, Chevron etc, the crude they lift if it is not under a joint venture arrangement is expected to be sold to their offshore clients and the proceeds transferred to nominated foreign accounts. Usually, since the oil price is denominated and exchanged in USD, it is expected that the funds will sit in the account that should be domiciled in the US or even in nigeria(although same virtual float sits in the US). Such portion will and should not come to CBN. Therefore, the oil companies when they need to spend naira for the cyclical transactionary purpose normally will sell at the prevailing interbank exchange rate to banks. That way they provide another alternative source of foreign exchange.

Same bullshiit we've been seeing from page one .
Bluetooth, I salute your devotion to this thread and vehement skepticism. But I find it difficult to understand the case you make. Yes, I agree you have a position, the basis of which I do not know; bitterness, intelligence, sharing another faith or whatever. The issue I have with you is that you have not made any case at all, analysing the claim and telling us why you think it is a lie. I made a case on page 4 and you may want to consider that. However, never see this as a brain contest or religious fanatism. I am of the opinion that you let us have your strong reason. To help you, let me quickly point out certain details you may have over looked:
1. The act of driving without fuel was not premeditated. Attempts to act and think normal failed. ie. finding fuel.
2. In the moment of desperation, help came. It may not be scientifcally understandable or logical to internalise but it happened.
3. Personal testimonies like this could have come in the passing not to hoodwink just like a lawyer in the law court makes a case and presents myriads of references of decided suits. It must not be mistaken for self adoration.
4. I believe you think this event is recent but I differ. You may need to go back and read between the lines. The timing is not recent; that may be the probable reason he would have driven him. It was in the days of little beginning.
5. For any conclusion to be drawn about any man, you probably need to consider his antecedents. For those who believe without verifying, it is because they already know him as a man of integrity and unassuming. Take, for instance,If I know you are truthful and have had 20 encounters with you without disappointments, then why should I contest your representation any other time? A leopard cannot change its skin.
6. Believing miracles is convincingly personal. That you do not believe today may not mean you will never believe. I am sure all you need is a convincing evidence beyond any reasonable doubt. That does not come from a limited thought process but a profound high level of understanding that can come from an open mind. You receive only if you open your hand!

Just think about this point but you are entitled to your views as others on this platform but the loudest voice is not adjudged the right or correct perspective or the truth.

The Big B-ang theory!
Christianity EtcRe: Pastor Adeboye Drove Car Without Petrol From Ore - Lagos by Jaggiey:
I understand that many on this platform have religion biases but I think that the freedom of expression should not be a licence to attack others' faith. By the word "miracle", it may be explained as the performance of an act or an occurrence that the common sense or logic may not comprehend and somewhat defies natural principles. It is also marvelous because it is never a regular occurrence. Examples including walking on water without drowning, parting the Red Sea into two, feeding about 5,000 men with just 5 loaves of bread and some fish, restoring sight to the blind man, restoring life to a man whose heart had stopped for over 72 hours and ultimately rising from the dead. Taken as an intervention of God where human abilities fail, the personal testimony shared by the Man of God qualifies for a miracle. Let's get back to the logic:

1. Using the trusted google map, to estimate the distance between Ore and Surulere, the result was a distance of 213-214km done in an average time of 2hr 15mins, I assume the road is tarred and little or no traffic.
2. I checked the car with the largest fuel reserve tank. First, I observed an inverse relationship between the fuel consumption of a car and the size of its tank. Secondly, I did not find any car with reserve fuel (put at 15% of the primary tank i.e. 13.04% of the fully filled tank) able to do that distance. If we assume in the extreme case, the tank size of the car in question was 100 litres, it meant he would have had 13 litres of fuel when he was at Ore, Ondo state. The question is could this have done a stretch of about 214km. I doubt this because I know how many times I had run on my car's reserve fuel and my heart was literarily in my throat. So how did he make it? It must have been a miracle.

I doubt if there was anything to gain by that personal testimony as some had suggested. In fact, I know for a fact that practising true christianity does not presuppose stupidity, ineptitude or ignoring the fact; the congregation can distinguish things. It is faith, a complete trust in the unfailing power of God. Besides, this man was a Mathematics Doctorate Degree holder before he heeded the call, so I am sure he understands physics and car mechanics well enough not to present an easily debunkable lie.

If it turns out that the previous skepticism, cynicism and mockery came from an atheist perspective, I challenge all atheists who deny the existence of God to ask themselves some questions and answer them personally and honestly:

1. What is sleep/dream and how can this been scientifically explained?
2. If there is no God, is there anything called evil or the devil or witchcraft? If yes, how do you know for sure?
3. How does the grand design called the Universe come about? The Big B a n g theory! Is there any verifiable explanation or mere conjectures?

Whatever your answers, it is my desire that your eyes of understanding be flooded with light.

For those cynicisms from any other faith, I may suggest that we focus on finding the TRUTH. It will definitely bring freedom. The Just shall live by Faith!

Bros, this is more than a sentence, technically. 'I teach maths like it's the easiest subject ever. The smile on my students' faces after each class proves it and the excitement that goes with it is my motivation.
You cannot use comma, colon or semi colon where the first full stop is because the two clauses contain almost totally different thoughts and should be clearly seperated. Plus, ya error too plenty for this kind 'one-sentence' post of urs...
- "It's", not "its"
- Students' not students
- Each class, not each classes
Bros, ya sure say na wetin u been tell your principal (abi na headmistress) be this wey make am give you this maths job? grin I bow to u ooo
The grammarian or tense structure analyst, I think I differ with you: The general definition of a sentence is: A sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop; It could be further taking apart as simple, compound or complex. So I suggest you just give your sentence without crucifying this man. He may have used more than one sentence;atleast, he said something. Besides, he teaches Mathematics and not English language. What I have learnt from the people who may think that by their funny intonation/diction they speak better or the queen's English is that they still ignorantly commit grammatical blunders. I thought you would have commended how he managed to still keep the verbal concord between " smile" and "proves" in his second sentence. He tried. No hard feeling or harm meant! cool
