It's so unfortunate but very glaring that LASU's part time programme has massively deteriorate the image of the citidal of learning. Kudos to Fashola for being subtle and noticing how the part time has dented the institution's glory that he eventually scraped it. I hope sanity will be fully restored once the remaining students in the part time all graduate. excell12go: This is really disappointing. LASU used to be one of best state-owned universities in the country. SMH for them. My guy suprisingly, LASU is actually currently the BEST state-owned uni in the country. (Even NUC ranked her the best) forget what the media says, other schools have their own flaws too. |

adonismuller: dumb senseless phool, hope the meeting is holding in your fathers sitting room? I am very sure of one thing, that if this guy is an udergraduate then he is unequivocally wasting is time studying, because he's just portaryed himself to the world that he a goon! He uttered foul words on virtually everyone that opposes his claims that the NEC meeting wasn't holding. Now that we've confirmed that the meeting was held what else do you have to say? That they didn't call off the strike? My advice for you- 1.This is a social website you don't have to be bellicose with everyone that do not go by your opinion, we are in a world where everyone is entitled to his\her opinion. Learn to be liberal, else you would just remain a frustrated fellow. 2. Don't ever vouch for or affirm anything that you are not sure of (you might find yourself in jail for doing that). The way you where bragging about your unverified claims yesterday was seriously pesky...now you see you were the one that spread a rumour. 3. Even if you are right with your claims stop being brash about it, don't lambaste anyone who doesn't accept your claims as he\she is entitiled to his\her opinion. 4. I challenge you to start posting on Nairaland hence forth as a learned fellow, becuase it would be so hard for me to believe that you are educated(If at all you are). 1 Like |

Ooooops I just stumbled on this site through google...Ok about the NEC meeting, for those that care to believe, I can implicitly confirm to you that the meeting is on going right now(though started about an hour ago). But the venue is what I am not at liberty to post here (for security reasons). For information on the outcome of the meeting, pls visit our website www.nigeriaelectricitycommission.com.ng |

This really has been buggling my mind for a while cos I stay in the area too (close to Lakowe) but I think it will be more reasonable for us to complain now since PHCN has just been privatized. Maybe we all should mobilize ourselves and protest, till there is a change. Cos if we keep quite now at this early stage of privatization, it might still remain the way it is in years to come...lets seek for the attention of the privatized PHCN now! I am available a peacful protest. |

adonismuller: is your problem opening a thread or debunking the rumour? Are u supposed to be an undergraduate or a goon? why would I be hating on you...u think I am as jobless and frustrated as you are? ohh I see, u r now getting what u wanted, *attention* |

I quote u op "God jt stretch ur finger in dis matter between ASUU,ASUP and FG even if it will cause de life of som1,do it...." am glad u said that...let's lay down your own life now...since ASUU is postponing their NEC meeting cos they lost a member. If u die now, maybe they can show some empathy and really cosider calling off instanlty. Guy abeg o lets have this deal, try commit suicide now, i'll make sure the news gets to the news agencies as soon as possible. But make sure u leave a note behind, write about how the stike fustrated you to commit the suicide. The Nigerian students won't forget you. RIP in advance (what a gem you are, you laid down your life to end ASUU strike 2013). |

But u are also monging a rumor naw, in as much as you do not have any official\confirmed evidence to debunk the fact that the meeting will hold tomorrow. Besides, you don't have to open a thread on that as we all can read what the Bauchi chairman said ourselves. These days on nairaland everybody wants to open a thread even if its baseless. 3 Likes |

I cannot get to any Windows XP screen. I hope I wont have to can do a clean install (Format), beacause I would rather not lose all my important files as I have no back up for them. I have looked around on the web and could not find a definitive answer. Anyone with help on hw to fix this problem? Needed urgently pls |

What's the point of opening this thread? why can't you just patiently wait till tomorrow. Mayb Mr. Seun should start charging money for opening a thread on Nairaland. |

Spacodinho: Fake news, haba UNICAL voted for the end of the strike. Mods you guys should ban this dude asap for openning fake thread! It's glaring that the op is just an attention seeker, even UI, UNILAG, LASU and many others voted for suspension of the strike...Disregard this post folks. |

I wrote this poem some couple of days ago however I posted it here to seek for your constructive responses. Pls enjoy MY CONSCIENCE I have a bosom friend whom I have never seen in my entirety. He has been there for me all my life, even when I cry and when I laugh. Yet I have never had a glimpse of how he looks. Though he has been invincible to me, but I unequivocally feel his companionship as he often visits me. His name is CONSCIENCE! Sometimes he meddles into my affairs, he besieges me even when I feel like being alone. Sometimes he makes me feel embittered as he often judge me. When I have succeeded in giving everyone a false impression, that I am innocent and above suspicion, he visits me and triggers me to have an introspection, then he finally lambastes me for my transgression. He is capable, to make hold me culpable for my cruelness. Sometimes he renders me very shambolic, and could make me confess my vices, even in public. I tried to stay aloof, But it seems unviable as he is sent from above. Oh! dear Conscience, forgive me for my ungratefulness, now I know how much you’re worth in my life, for you are my upholder. Oh! I remember, How you often make me feel inwardly bitter, just so I could be better. Though sometimes you treat me like your puppet, but now I realize you are more that a friend, you are like my prophet. You’ve revitalized my morals and often make me amend, just so I could be a step near being perfect. Harkening to your words was so important to heal my heart and soul, for if it weren’t for you, What would I have become? A heartless and cruel being I reckon. Thanks for being my beacon. My conscience. Your comments would be highly appreciated. Thanks |

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti appealed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to return to the classrooms in the interest of their students. He made the appeal at the inauguration of the College of Engineering Complex at the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Ekiti State. The three-storey college complex was also named after the President. Jonathan urged ASUU members to heed his appeal saying that whatever their grievances might be, keeping students out of school for four months was unpatriotic. “I once again appeal to the entire membership of ASUU to pause and ponder on the adverse effect of their action on the future of the vibrant youths of this great nation. “The collective destiny of tens of thousands of tomorrow’s leaders should not be held hostage to vagaries of labour disputes. “As long as we are humans, as long as we are a developing society, this labour dispute must come up. “I always say that even in the developed societies we hear about labour dispute; and there is no society, even the most developed, that has provided the facilities for every worker. “Our security services, the Police, the Armed Forces, Navy, Air Force and para-military, intelligent services are also operating in an environment that is not the best. “If all of us should go on long strike because our environment is not at its optimum, then definitely we can never get the Nigeria of our dream. “So, let me use this unique opportunity that I am interfacing with our future leaders, our students, to plead with ASUU members. “If it is a genuine strike keeping students out of classrooms for almost four months, by that they have demonstrated to everybody that they have a case. “And if the strike is motivated by some other interests, they have also achieved that by keeping students out of schools for more than a semester,” he said. The President emphasised that the freedom of association and the right of workers to go on strike should not be abused to harm the country’s interest. “I believe that labour has the right to go on strike, but in that strike, any action taken must be built on patriotic zeal. “In as much as you can go on strike, you must be patriotic to our country. “No matter how and what you feel about Mr president and the federal government, I plead with ASUU that for the sake of our students, they should resume classes,” he said. President Jonathan assured all that the government would continue to work with all Nigerians to build a better country for all and future generation. He noted that as long government had shown commitment to improving the qualities of infrastructure in the universities and the operating environment, ASUU should reconsider its stand. Jonathan noted that if students of private universities could get their degrees within three and half years as witnessed in ABUAD, “it is unacceptable that students of public institutions are kept for extra one or two years”. source: www.vanguardng.com/2013/10/return-classrooms-jonathan-appeals-ASUU/ |

@OP, I just have to let you understand that there is absolutely nothing to justify the lingering strike than for improved living condition (Hike in salaries) of the lecturers. It's glaring they all want to live large like our politicians, they feel if someone could be earning Millions with an ordinary Waec, Hnd or Bsc how much more the Phd holders and Profs...but my answer to that is simple, if u want to earn like them, then quit your lecturing job and join them. (Late Yar'adua and GEJ did it successfully) rather that inflict agonies on the innocent students. I mean, tell me just 2 ways in which the strike is really affecting the govt (for the ones in currently in power though)? I guess except for 2015 election's sake. They live their lives normally as if nothing is happening and at the same time you guys (Lecturers) would still accrue ur monthly salaries. So that means u have absolutely nothing to lose sequel to the strike. If truly you want us to believe that you are agitating for revamping of our universities then declear to the public that you would forgo your monthly salaries and allowances during the course of the strike, only then would you have the support of someone like me. Although I am not advocating the chary attitude of FG but I think I quite agree with them that it is not all the lecturers that are entitled to earned allowances. Reason is that some, infact most of them have refused to 'develop' themselves, they have never sat for an hour to study futher since they got their Phd. Hence they go to classrooms to dictate verbatim from textbooks written by their counterparts in other countries (esp. USA and India) with no futher elucidation to the students. Yet such lecturers still want to be paid an 'undeserved' allowance. It's also imperative that I ask of what benefits have you guys (Lecturers) ever been to this nation Nigeria apart from dictating notes to ur students? How many of you has ever come up with a great discovery or invention that could better the lives of Nigerians? Ordinary mosquito killer some of the naija's Dr(s) and profs can't make. We have lots of Professors in Mechanical engineering yet we still can't manufacture a viable car. We have you guys here in Nigeria and yet we import virtually everything from other countries. I once heard of a professor in computer science that could not design a website. How pathetic! Yet they all wants to be entitled to allowances. I could vividly remember a member of ASUU from uniben or so making an utterance that they (ASUU) will never call off the strike even if it lasts for Ten (10) years, and I was like is this supposed to be a lecturer or a goon? So face it Mister (or Prof), I for one can never be deluded by your extremely sentimental write up...and it's simple, you stick to your opinion and i'll stick to mine. Forgive me if I sound so brash. But remember two wrongs can never make a right and it is unjustifiable to inflict agonies on innocent Nigerian students. Stop The Strike As Soon As Possible! Thanks 5 Likes |

I wrote this poem some days ago. It was incited by a lady whom I loved but never seems to Love me in return. Although she never rejected my proposal to her, but she equally did not accept my proposal, all she told me was that she needed some time to think about it...but that 'time' seems perpetual. Please enjoy and kindly share your opinion on it . ¤WHAT IF? So I packed my mental luggage and cogitated down the memory lane, I thought about everything imaginable from our historical antecedents to the contemporary things. ¤ What if Eve was not so gullible? ¤What if Adam did not take that bite? ¤What if love never existed btw them? Would we still be living in paradise? ¤What if God did not give us his only begotten son? ¤What if Jesus never died for our sins? Would we still be saved? ¤What if Jack did not loved Rose (Titanic)? Would he had died in that ship? ¤What if Saint Valentinus was never given birth to? Would there still be holliday ascribed to Celebration of Love (Valentine's Day)? ¤What if you believed that I GENUINELY LOVE YOU? ¤What if you deemed it fit to tell me how you truely feel abt me? (even if it's not affirmative), Would I still be hovering around you? ¤What if you tell me YOU LOVE ME? Would you have committed a felony? Or Would you feel remorse? ¤What if we start dating eachother today? Would it suddenly transform your personality from good to bad? Or Would you have to break someone else's heart? ¤What if you truely care abt my cravings for you? Would it cost you anything? ¤What if you become the mother of my three unborn children, my only wife, and my companion? Would heaven be let loose? ¤What if you would feature in my imminent success story? I could long for things that may never be, I could have being in ecstasy about things that should have being. But until I escape from the prison of your Love, then I could think of being emmotionally emancipated. THE END |

However, I need someone to please educate me further on this; 1.I am planning to apply for a conference in the US of A slated for January 2014 although I am currently a student in a Nigerian university but by then I would have been a graduate ( graduating by September this year) so my question is; is it possible for me to get a letter for my department ( as in attestation letter) regardless of the fact i will be already done with the dept then. 2. how would the letter from the school look like, should it be a in a letter headed format? then what would be the major contents of the letter? a sample will be highly appreciated. |
