Politics / Nigerian Security Agencies And Partisanship by Jakaya(m): 5:28pm On Jun 01, 2015
The Nigerian security agencies have before now displayed uncommon professionalism and patriotism worth commendation. These agencies have remained a stabilizing point in the evolution of our dear nation.

Recently, the activities of some members of these security agencies have called for the review of the roles and duties of these Security agencies. This include; The Nigerian Army, SSS, Navy, Airforce, Customs, Immigration, Prisons ETC.

The outings of these security agencies since the return to democracy in 1999, has called for worry and have generated serious concerns especially during the past administration.

Security agencies at various points abandon their constitutional roles and duties of defending the federal republic and all citizens of the country to displaying loyalty to political parties.

There was a social media report where a senior military, officer was alleged to have told some other senior officers that the Army is for a certain political party in the build up to the 2015 elections.

Our security agencies have rather become tools in the hands of politicians. They have been used to intimidate, harass and detain perceived political enemies.

We have not forgotten The sudden disappearance and re-appearance of president Buhari's certificates from the army head quarters. All these was done to frustrate his candidature and give his opponent an upper hand.

During the general elections the security agencies were accused of aiding and abetting rigging by giving protection to certain politicians to carry out nefarious activities. Some were used to scare away political opponents on the day of elections. Some supervised and gave protection for the thump printing of the ballot papers.

Again, during the elections some of them could not hide their love for some candidates as they drove round. Some of the security agencies where even accused of lending their rifles to political thugs to intimidate opponents. We have heard situations where certain commissioners of police are posted to a state with the sole aim of helping the incumbent governor deliver his state to a certain political party. The activities of former commissioner Mbu quickly comes to mind here. Senator Barnabas Gemade was harassed by a colonel in the Nigerian Army during the 2015 elections.

Funnily, some military and para-military personnel will even go on the social media and post pictures of themselves boldly supporting a political party.

This is worrying and disturbing as it it unprofessional.

Amazingly, some people have accused the security agencies of using propaganda in the war against Bokoharam.

The president himself a disciplined erstwhile military personnel who rose to become the head of state has a duty to return these military agencies to their constitutional roles of defending and protecting the people of Nigeria.

The president must lead by example by not involving security agencies in partisan politics.

The conduct of our security personnel must be professional. They must return to their constitutional roles. Their loyalty must return to the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria and not any political affiliation or interest...

Nairaland / General / If Tarzoor Were Not From The Royal Family, I Would Have Questioned The Source Of by Jakaya(m): 9:38pm On Mar 08, 2015
IF TARZOOR WERE NOT FROM THE ROYAL FAMILY, I WOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THE SOURCE OF HIS WISDOM.

When I see the wisdom in the way our Governor in waiting handles issues, I am left with no option than to thank his father for inculcating in him the needed discipline and maturity needed to approach matters of leadership; calling to mind his royal background.

I feel very bad when I see young girls out with their boyfriends at moments when their mothers should be teaching them how to cook and treat their future husbands well. TARZOOR is an example of a good family upbringing, 4 those of us with a photo-mind; we can picture the young Prince sitting at the feet of his father, while pronouncing judgement in wisdom and truth. No wonder then, he can speak with such confidence. He is eloquent enough, full of vigour, articulate in his speech and with the command of the language: Tiv, English, pidgin, Ijaw, et cetera

Politics / Rt Hon Terhemen Tarzoo by Jakaya(m): 11:09pm On Mar 05, 2015
There is a popular saying in Africa that "a young man who washes his hand properly will obtain the right to eat with the elders". This has been the case in Benue State as the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, a visionary young man leads the pack, campaigning in a fashion never before observed.
As the 2015 general elections draw closer, it is becoming increasingly easier to see the signs of desperation and what others have described as the do or die attitude. To see various political patrons and their supporters sponsoring hate speeches and violent conduct becomes usual and little wrong is seen in such acts.
It is in the midst of all this ensuing chaos and lowered moral standards that I stand to salute the exemplary approach of one man, Rt Hon Terhemen Tarzoor. He has gone about campaigning in an usual way, deviating from name calling to focusing on issues. Hon Tarzoor has refused to to bring himself to the level of exchanging derogatory language as it is common in the political landscape of the country. At every opportunity he mentions his willingness to provide enablement and support for entrepreneurs, better healthcare systems, effective pension schemes etc.
While other candidates before him tried to debate trivialities, the beloved Prince traveled to Gambia in the middle of campaigning to seek a way forward for agricultural producers in the state. It is beyond expectations that an aspirant does not only possess a blueprint, but has also made concerted efforts towards achieving such efforts. It goes beyond what the rumours on the street will depict, that is the embodiment of visionary. In such forthright steps, one can see determination and a workable plan for the future.
On several occasions, the official statement of the Honourable gentleman has been one of peaceful co-existence and tolerance to the views and choices of others. In all honesty, he is the only candidate that has come out to issue public statements through all the possible outlets from the social media, to electronic and print media. My dear people of Benue, that is what a leader looks like. Being a Prince goes beyond been called one. Princely acts such as fostering peace at all costs, and restraining a few aggrieved supporters from causing mayhem is what shows that royalty truly flows in his veins.
The Bible in Proverbs chapter 22 verse 29 says "Seest thou a man diligent in his work? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." Rt. Hon. Prince Terhemen Tarzoor is diligent as exemplified in his campaign style, it is no doubt the reason he is on his way to stand before greater kings of the land.

The Nigerian movie audience is about to be enthralled with the upcoming release of the movie titled ''THE UNKIND''.

Brilliantly written and directed by talented film maker Ekoja Michael Ijegwa, ''THE UNKIND'' transports the audience into the dark corners of the human mind where the clear divide of good and evil are a murky grey.

This gripping film which brings to life four powerful personalites in a web of hate, adultery, deceit, greed and serial murder tells the story of an adopted orphan girl who is trapped in a world where her psychotic legal custodian is lord and master.

The mix of cutting edge film making techniques with the superb talents of award winning actors like Kalu Ikeagwu, Esther Audu, Hoomsuk Alex and upcoming actress/model Cynthia Nwarueze makes ''THE UNKIND'' an instant all time favourite.

With its strong visuals, clever structure, eloquent story telling and never before seen type vfx for a Nigerian film, ''THE UNKIND'' is that film which delivers on all levels thus giving the audience exactly what they want.... a good time.... this is simply the must see film of 2015!

The film maker Mr Ekoja Michael Ijegwa has put a lot of thought into creating a masterpiece. He has enlivened the emotions of everyday folks and juxtaposed them with the audience from a superb viewing perspective. Watching “THE UNKIND” is like interacting with a living breathing organism. It is captivating, regaling and even delightful to behold. Scenes from THE UNKIND were shot in various locations in Makurdi the Benue State capital and Abuja - FCT

Politics / Why I Turned Down Polls Debate, By PDP Benue Guber Candidate by Jakaya(m): 1:09pm On Feb 20, 2015
Why I turned down polls debate, by PDP candidate

By Freddie Adamgbe, Makurdi

The Tarzoor/Ngbede Gubernatorial Campaign Organisation has refuted insinuations that the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Rt Hon. TerhemenTarzoor and his running mate John Ngbede deliberately ''dodged'' the recent debate organised by Tivnet for gubernatorial candidates for all political parties in the state.

The campaign organisation in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Director General, Mr Tom Chiahemen maintained that it became necessary to correct the misinformation saying Tarzoor did not ‘dodge’ the said debate as erroneously reported in the media.

''It would be wrong and mischievous to suggest that Prince Tarzoo ‘dodged’ the debate when, in the first place, our candidate did not, at any time, accept to participate in the event. For the avoidance of doubt, PrinceTarzoor could not honour the invitation because some of the persons slated to participate in the exercise are phantom candidates whose purported choice as candidates of their political parties is still being contested in court'', the statement added.

The organisation stressed that as democrats who believe in the rule of law, the Benue PDP governorship candidate could not have honoured the invitation to take part in the said debate as doing so “would amount to conferring legitimacy on some of our opponents who did not emerge flag bearers of their parties in a transparent process.

“It was on this basis, therefore, that Prince Tarzoor declined to participate in the debate in order not to be seen to be helping to subvert due process and the rule of law”, the statement said.

Politics / Benue Pdp Ends Campaign Tour In Gbajimba On A Rough Note After Attack By The Apc by Jakaya(m): 10:06pm On Feb 06, 2015
The ruling party in Benue State yesterday had its last local government campaign rally in the state which held at Gbajimba in Guma Local Government Area of the State. Despite all other rallies been peaceful, this trend was brought to an abrupt end yesterday. The rally, incidentally was held in the hometown of Former Minister and former PDP stalwart. Before take-off to the local government area, Hon Terhemen Tarzoor had advised all those travelling alongside not to respond to any taunts, provocations or incitements of any kind. Yet, on arrival, supposed APC youths and supporters crowded the access road to the rally venue and used their brooms to swipe across vehicles making their way to rally. On the insistence of the PDP gubernatorial aspirant, no one on his entourage reacted and everything seemed to be moving swiftly till an unknown youth with a broom in hand and sticks in another attacked the music truck demanding their quiet entry into the town. Numerous gun shots were heard and people scampered all over to take cover. Although no fatalities were recorded, several people sustained some minor injuries including a young man in his thirties, who sustained a head injury and was bleeding. The reason for the attack is yet to be verified, and those behind it unknown. Yet some have said "there are no coincidences" as such blame the friction between the two political parties in the state.
Find attached a pictures of the injured man and another of him been apologised to by the Deputy Governor of the State.

Politics / Oju N Obi Lg Stood 4 Pdp In Benue State by Jakaya(m): 12:57am On Feb 01, 2015
Idomaland, home of Senate President David Alechenu Mark was host to the campaign team on 30th January 2015. The first point of call was the palace of the royal fathers Ad'Oju HRH Chief Ambassador Augustine Ogbu and Ad'Obi HRH Chief Cyril Okwute respectively. The royal fathers blessed Hon Tarzoor and Hon Ngbede as they would do any of their numerous sons or daughters contesting for the coveted post of governor and deputy.
The campaign rally ground in the local government areas were Oju Local Government Pavilion, Oju and Pilot Primary School, Obi respectively.
The reception was unprecedented since the turn of the campaign season so far. A crowd like no other turned up to welcome their son Hon. John Ngbede and the gubernatorial candidate Hon. Terhemen Tarzoor. Organisers of the event estimated that approximately 8,000 people were present at both events and the crowds could easily rival rallies held in more densely populated regions.
The campaign DG Sen. Amb. Prof. Iorwuese Hagher spoke to the people of Oju and Obi with zeal. His message was that of encouragement, that party faithful will not be weary but continually strive to attain a stake in the upcoming elections.
The Deputy Governor Chief Steven Lawani also said a few words, and implored them to work to actualize the Tarzoor /Ngbede Governorship dream.
Hon Tarzoor on behalf of both aspirants, thanked the well meaning people of the land for their tremendous show of support and love. He was full of praise and expressed his utter surprise and overwhelming joy at such a reception. He promised not to take lightly the confidence placed in him and his running mate.
The team returned to Otukpo, where they recessed for the day at the prestigious Double K Resort. From where they would proceed to Ohimini and Ado Local Government Areas

Foreign Affairs / Terhemen Tarzoor Campaign Road Show In Makurdi Benue State by Jakaya(m): 12:04am On Jan 16, 2015
"Today the PDP had its Zone B Rally in Makurdi metropolis. The party's gubernatorial flag bearer Rt. Hon. Prince Terhemen Tarzoor, his running mate Hon. John Ngbede and their entourage rallied for support round Makurdi metropolis.

They drove through Highlevel, New GRA, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Terwase Agbadu, Gboko Road, Wurukum, Northbank, Wadata and ended at IBB square. As observers we couldn't help but be engaged; Tarzoor smiled, waved, shook, hands of his electorate. I even spotted a witty wink, that made one young lady jump with jubilant joy, waving at the aspirant like he was an old amiable friend. Hon Ngbede followed immediately behind, he was charismatic, smiled and waved as Benue people cheered. Together they depicted a team, a team that seems to be working in unison, with flowing synergy.

At IBB square, speaker after speaker commended Benue PDP's choice of a young candidate and urged Prince Tarzoor to hold the people of Benue at heart as he bids to become the Governor. Over 1,000 APC members also defected to the PDP in an unprecedented fashion, they tore their APC membership cards. As expected, cheers roared as they were ‎applauded by the teeming mass of PDP supporters. The Aspirant Rt. Hon. Prince Terhemen Tarzoor and his running mate Hon. John Ngbede went round greeting party faithful, stakeholders and well wishers.

Present at IBB square were the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Suswam, his wife Arc. Deaconess Yemeni Suswam, Deputy Governor Steven Lawani and host of others.

The indimidating crowd has completely brought Makurdi to a stand still. Sellers and buyers all came out to catch a glimpse and wave at the motorcade. House2House, Booth2Booth etc were on ground to coordinate and show massive support for Tarzoor/Ngbede ticket come February this year.
