how long would the coop be for?
Feel, free to connect with me. My colleagues usually take interns every now and then. I could recommend if it's a good fit
Thanks for your response.
That would be awesome.
It's a 4 months coop, from January to April.
I have sent you a direct message

To whom it may concern,

I have seen posts here from people who don't know how to start writing their SOP or how to go about reapplying.

I, too, was only successful on my second attempt, so I figured I would share my SOP.
Of course, no 2 cases are the same, but it may guide somebody here on how to go about writing theirs.

Note I applied for a graduate certificate after completing a Master's.
Completed Bachelors in 2013, Masters in 2016, then applied for a Graduate certificate to start in 2020.

I will answer any questions directed at me if I can.

See attached the redacted version of my SOP.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and your suggestions. Yes, I already have made similar posts on LinkedIn.

I also have been contacted by a few recruiters on there and even had an interview. But so far, nothing concrete yet.

Although I have an option for a non-paid internship, but that will only be as a last resort, because it would be very difficult not having an income for at least 4 months, because I would have to leave my current part-time job for the fulltime internship.

I appreciate your input.
truthsayer009:
You should have created this post on LinkedIn itself, a lot of recruiters will reach out to you by themselves. Also post the language stack you are very familiar with and your portfolio.

Then tell people you know working as software devs to share it for on their timeline.

It should be easy for you to get non paid internships.

Try to reach out privately to recruiters on LinkedIn
Thanks for your suggestion. Yes, this is one of the ways I currently am using to search.
I have spoken with a few recruiters, but unfortunately, it is yet to lead to a job. I still will continue with this approach tho.

Quickly look for the telegram group NIPCA (Nigeran IT Professionals in Canada. Search out the admins Ositaman or Chinny and ask if you can place this Advert there. Its a wonderful group and one or more people will help you there.

See if you can contact a recruiter from Recruiting in motion - they are one agency that has a preference for entry-level staff
This is great! Thank you for sharing.
I have just registered to become a member of NIPCA, so hopefully, I will be added to the Telegram group soon.
I also have checked out Recruiting in Motion, so while I wait to be added to the Telegram group, I will pop into one of their locations and discuss my needs.
Hopefully, visiting their office in person will lead to better results than my online applications have done so far.

Hello guys,

I know this isn't LinkedIn but I thought its worth a shot.

I'm studying Software development at Lambton College, Toronto. I'm going into my final semester and due to start co-op (Internship) in January as a requirement for my program.

Its proving to be more difficult than I thought to find placement. Even though January seems far away, I'm getting anxious because if I'm unable to get a placement, I would have to enroll in another semester and pay its fees, for which I have not budgeted.

If anyone here has any leads, or can connect me, or refer me, or employ me, it would be really helpful.
Also, I dont have to be in Toronto, so if there are opportunities elsewhere, I'm open to that too.

You can reach out to me privately, or reply to this post or ask for my contact information.

I hope my helper gets to see this.
