It depend on your long term goal/prospect. Do you want to go on into academics ie continue to phd? Or do you just want to upgrade. This 2 things should guide you more important in the course of bsc you should across courses that interest you.

Many student enters uni with the drive to get a first class, Many of which are smart and some not so smart.
As they go along some are left out of the race, at the end only the "exceptional" ones make it.
Note exceptional doesnt mean you have to be a genius, you just need to be atleast average, resilent and "DEDICATED".
@ OP you just might not be as smart as you think you are, but dont let the fact that you did not get a first class discourage you. I am 2:1 afterall but i have a 1st class brain, mindset, "INFORMATION".
@those using Jamb and Waec to judge how good people are, i beg to disagree coz alot of factors contribute to how well one can perfom in those exam, such factors are school standard, training, exposure etc. I for one didnt have A1s in my waec or 300ish jamb but in my department and faculty i am
up there at par with those who had A1s in waec and just incase i'm 2:1 4.2.

well i never got the chance to study in canada US or UK but

i finished from a university in tokyo.I started my job hunting

8months before my graduation and well i got lucky and i had 5 job offers.

I really wanted to return back home but i guess i was use to my environment

and i just felt stressed re adjusting to the nigerian way of doing stuff.

Gone through several threads for international students living/studying abroad, i dont seem to find any thread directed at this topic so i decided to start one.

Most students who leave the country for foreign study go with diverse goal.
For some to get the the degree and return to the country, but most end up staying after their studies.
For others it is a route to immigrate.

Nigerian students who have studied abroad in Canada, USA, UK, did you return? Or Did you stay behind? What affected your decision to either stay or return.
How did you land your first job, what field?
how relevant was/is it to the course you studied.
What is your alma mata and how has it help you in terms of your overall personallity, Networking, jobs.

Nigerian students who are studying in CANADA, USA, UK
what course are you studying and institution?
Do you plan on returning or staying, what are your plans should you stay on concerning landing your first job.

Nigerian students planning to study in Canada, USA, UK
What are you plans, do you plan to return Or stay behind.
What course are you going for and institution.

I have used Canada, USA, & UK because that is the major destination of most Nigerian students.
Students from othe countries can also contribute Germany, France, Australia, Sweeden Finland et al.

I'm a Biochemist and I dont regret it one bit. There are alot of opportunities for us. Have U guys thought of venturing into RESEARCH? I mean research in Biotechnology - environmental, industrial, agricultural and molecular biotechnology and the functions of a Biochemist in this field cannot be overemphasized.

I'm also a final year undergrad student of biochemistry. Am really interested in research especially biotech please can you explain more on that because i always believe that there is no intensive reasearch in this country.

thanks@ bullstriker it means i just need the sponsor just to show the cdhc that if anytin goes wrong with the the stipend that i will be able sustain myself. Does that mean i will eventually not need the money if nothing goes wrong with my stipend?

2. The school i intend applying to states on their website that all graduate students are guaranteed graduate stipend wihch covers both tuition and cost of living. Do i still need a sponsor with this? If it will help i do be applying for Msc Biochemistry.
3. I will going for my NYSC by Nov this year or Jan next year and i want to leave immidiatly after my service. When is the best time for me to take my GRE an also apply to the school.
