UNICAL lecturer – Dr. Dominic Abakedi, a lecturer at the University of Calabar, was arrested by the Nigeria Police in Cross River State for allegedly impersonating an ad hoc staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the presidential and national assembly elections held on Saturday, February 25.

Gabriel Agabi Akwaji, a Department of Philosophy lecturer, was arrested with a fake Bi-Modal Voter Accreditation System, or BVA machine, at the collation center in Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the suspect appeared in the Yache ward of Yala Local Government Area and claimed that Abakedi instructed him to represent him and carry out the job.

He was said to have gone missing after the elections ended at 6:00 pm on Saturday, Feb. 25, and to have appeared at the Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area headquarters around 2:00 pm on Sunday, Feb. 26, in the Company of political Party chieftains.

A 300-level BSU student was discovered dead – Erekaa Naomi Dooshima, a 300-level mass communication student at Benue State University, was found dead a few days after she went missing.

A phone, an ID card, and blood-stained clothes allegedly belonging to the student were discovered around the Rahama clinic opposite the Medical School in Makurdi on Tuesday, February 21, according to a post shared by Benue activist Ukan Kurugh.

Confirming the vote buying to the observer, some of the beneficiaries who refused to disclose their identities said that they were given the sum of N7,000 each by APC members inside the house.

According to him, he is sure Lawan is not planning to return to the Senate after his tenure ends in 2023.
The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Yobe North, Bashir Machina has insisted that he is still in the race and is not willing to relinquish his ticket for the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
Lawan had contested the presidential ticket of the party but lost to a former Lagos governor and national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu.

Meanwhile, Machina won the primaries of the party for the Yobe North in Lawan’s absence. Lawan had hoped Machina would relinquish the ticket to him following his failed bid to win the APC presidential ticket, but Machina has insisted that he will not step down for Lawan.
