Mr. Chimaokwu equally accused the police at Okuzi Division and Area Command in Omoku of compromise because the accused allegedly enjoys cordial relationship with the police.

Ex-international, Others mourn ex-Eagles striker Usiyan

Ex-international, Felix Owolabi, has described the demise of his former national teammate Thompson Usiyan as painful and sad.

Both played together in the Green Eagles in the late 70s.

Usiyan, who died on Tuesday (today) in his Lamest, Redonda Beach home in California, USA at the age of 65, was born April 27, 1956 in Effurun, Delta State.

“Just two weeks ago we lost Segun Adeleke, also in America, and now it is Usiyan. I pray God will grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” Owolabi said.

“Usiyan was a delight to watch in the attack. One cannot forget his contributions in a hurry. His departure for the US at that time created a big vacuum in the team.

“If not for the ingenuity of coach Father Tiko that converted Segun Odegbami into a striker, we would have found it difficult to win the Nations Cup in 1980,” he said.

Usiyan scored on his debut, a friendly match against Kenya, in 1976 and played his last match for the national team – a 2-0 defeat to Algeria – during the qualifiers for the 1982 World Cup on October 10, 1981 in Lagos.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has said that Abba Kyari lied that he did not receive money from Ramon Abass known as Hushpuppi; to them, he received N8 million to arrest and jail Kelly Chibuzo Vincent, the internet fraudster’s co-conspirator.

Recall that in a statement on Facebook, Mr Kyari had denied any wrongdoing after a court document exposed how Mr Abbas bribed him to arrest Mr Chibuzo following a dispute over the proceeds of crime.
He said the suspect was released after discovering there was no threat to anyone’s life, “and they are longtime friends who have money issues between them.”

“Nobody demanded a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi,” Mr Kyari had said in his Facebook post, claiming that he later introduced Mr Abbas to his tailor and then facilitated the purchase of clothes for him for just N300,000.

However, more details of their conversations indicated that Mr Kyari received money to have Mr Chibuzo detained for five weeks upon the instruction by Mr Abbas.

Mr Abass informed Mr Kyari that Mr Chibuzo tried to steal his deal, but the senior officer “did not request other information or evidence relating to Chibuzo’s role in the scheme, ask questions about the nature of the transaction, or ask about why Chibuzo told the Victim Businessperson that ABBAS was ‘fake’.”

“Please sir I want to spend money to send this boy to jail, let him go for a very long time,” Mr Abass said. In response, Mr Kyari vowed to “do something about it” as well as send officers’ account details to Mr Abass.

Police appeal for information to locate family of child found wandering in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command is appealing for useful information that could help to locate the family of a child found wandering alone.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday July 29, said the boy of about six years old was found by a Good Samaritan and brought to a station in the state.

“The Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that on 26th July, 2021 at about 1710hrs, a male child of about 6 years old (picture attached) was found wandering at Holy Ghost, Enugu and brought to Central Police Station (CPS), Enugu, by a Good Samaritan. He is about 3ft tall, dark in complexion and observed to be defective in speech.

Abba Kyari, a deputy commissioner of police (DCP), has denied receiving money from Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, the embattled Nigerian socialite facing fraud charges in the United States.
US court documents had indicated that Hushpuppi alleged that he bribed Abba Kyari to arrest a co-fraudster named Vincent.

The socialite said he bribed Kyari to arrest and jail one of his rivals in Nigeria after a dispute over a $1.1 million scam on Qatari businesspeople.
Kyari denies allegation
In a post on Kyari’s verified Facebook page, the DCP explained that he had contact with Hushpuppi about two years ago when he called his office to report someone who was allegedly planning to attack his family.

Kyari said Vincent was eventually arrested based on Hushpuppi’s distress call.

He wrote: “Later, he saw some of my Native Clothes and Caps on my social media page and he said he likes them and he was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300k directly to the person’s account.”

Social media giant, Facebook, has restricted the new Facebook page of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

This was disclosed by a member of the proscribed organization, Simon Ekpa, on Twitter.

“Our new Facebook page has been blocked restricted by Facebook,” Ekpa wrote.
This comes months after the group had alleged that Facebook shut down the page of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Jaya settlements in Boko district of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State was on Monday July 26, attacked by bandits.

Eyewitnesses told Daily Trust that the armed men invaded the village on over 100 motorbikes and killed many people.

A resident, Ali Aminu told the publication;

“They also made away with cows and other animals. I saw three injured persons being ferried to a hospital in Boko community. They were shot on arms, legs and thighs. They were however referred to a bigger medical facility.

“Few days ago, the armed men had attempted to attack one community there, but were ambushed by vigilantes who had got the wind of attack by the armed criminals. The armed bandits beat a retreat after several of them were killed.

“This apparently angered the bandits, they therefore reinforced and invaded the communities. Reports say they came on more than 100 motorcycles and when they laid siege, it was drizzling and people were taking shelter inside their houses.

“Several women and children had fled the communities and some of them arrived at Boko community this evening, despite the incessant rainfall."

A Yoruba activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by security operatives in the West African country.
According to Coolstories Report Igboho was arrested Monday night after fleeing Nigeria to evade arrest by Nigeria’s secret police.

A source privy to his departure from Nigeria said he had perfected plans to secretly escape from Nigeria through Cotonou and was heading to Germany.

He was, however, nabbed by security operatives in the neighboring country.

A source privy to the incident, said, “Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago.

“He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night. He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou.

“They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria”.

Recall that the Department of State Services had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a bloody midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
