In a video posted on Twitter, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has released the footage of its latest raid and aerial attack on the base of militants in the Arepo area of Ogun state in an operation which was code-named ‘Operation Awatse’.
The video clip showed two aircraft hovering over a militant camp, which had at least 15 armed men. About five boats were seen beside some makeshift tents in the camp. The air force jets were apparently on a surveillance mission, as three fighter jets were later deployed to the location.
According to TheCable News, the footage indicated that the jets released missiles into the creeks, but images of the attack strikes were not shown as jerry cans and boats used for siphoning crude oil were seen in the video, dated August 1......

Eighty-four people — including several children — died in the French city of Nice after a terrorist plowed a truck, which was “loaded with” grenades and other arms, into a large crowd during Bastille Day celebrations Thursday night, according to officials and the French president.
As of Friday 8 a.m. local time, 18 individuals were in critical condition, 50 were lightly injured, and 120 were receiving treatment, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior. Prior to the announcement Friday morning that 84 had died, the death toll had been 80.
The attack left an “apocalyptic” scene, according to eyewitnesses, on the city’s famed Promenade des Anglais, which runs along the Mediterranean Sea. The French Riviera city was subsequently put on lockdown.
The exact nature of the attack was unclear, but the Paris anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office was put in charge of the investigation.
French President Francois Hollande extended the country’s state of emergency for three months and were mobilizing reservists. He said it was unclear if the attacker had any accomplices.
Hollande also discussed the threat of “Islamist terrorism.” “The terrorist nature of this attack cannot be denied,” he said.
“France is horrified by what has just occurred – a monstrous act of using a truck to intentionally kill dozens of people celebrating 14th of July,” Hollande said. “France is strong. France will always be stronger than the fanatics who want to strike France today.”
World leaders were quick to condemn the deadly attack.
President Obama said in a statement, “On behalf of the American people, I condemn in the strongest terms what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent citizens. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and other loved ones of those killed, and we wish a full recovery for the many wounded.”
Secretary of State John Kerry said the U.S. Embassy in Paris was working to account for the welfare of U.S. citizens in Nice. The American consulate in Marseille said it was trying to “determine if any U.S. citizens were injured in the event.”
The State Department tweeted, “US Citizens in #France: Avoid area near attack in Nice. Monitor local press for updates & exercise caution.”
Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau tweeted, “Canadians are shocked by tonight’s attack in Nice. Our sympathy is with the victims, and our solidarity with the French people.”
Chinese premier Li Keqiang said, “We strongly condemn terrorism of all forms. We express our condolences to the victims and we will fight all kinds of terrorism.”
European Council president Donald Tusk said the world stands united with the French people. “It is a tragic paradox that the victims of the attack people celebrating liberty, quality and fraternity,” he said. “We will stand united with the families of victims, the French people and the government in the fight against violence and hatred.”

The government of President Buhari rolls out N.5 trillion Economic Palliative Package ‎ – The social initiatives meant to ease pains of Nigerians over the hike in fuel prices – The government will pay N5000 monthly to one million extremely poor Nigerians for 12 months



President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled a social investment package designed to impact on the lives of over eight million Nigerians. This was contained in a statement by Laolu Akande, senior special assistant to the president, during an interactive session with reporters in Abuja. He clarified that some parts of this package would become operational in the coming weeks. The statement reads in part: “The Buhari presidency is keen to ensure that Nigerians are lifted and that if necessary on an ongoing basis, palliatives measures would always been considered to address the conditions of the people.

“Long before now, the presidency has made adequate arrangements in the 2016 budget to ensure that Nigerians are lifted from poverty and hardship. “All together the federal government would be directly impacting the lives of more than 8 million Nigerians in different social investment 2016 budget spending that would provide succor and be a ready-made palliative to ordinary Nigerians. “The direct payment of N5000 monthly to one million extremely poor Nigerians for 12 months as provided for in the 2016 budget for which N$68.7B has been appropriated. “The government has also made available a direct provision of very soft loan -cash for market women, men and traders, including artisans and agric workers. This would be for a total of 1.76m Nigerians, without the requirement for conventional collateral. “Some of the traders will likely get about N60,000. A total sum of N140.3B has already been appropriated for this in the budget. The details also showed their there would be payment of between N23,000 to N30,000 per month to 500,000unemployed graduates who would be trained, paid and deployed to work as volunteer teachers, public health officers and extension service workers among other responsibilities. “They would also be given electronic devices to empower them technologically both for their assignments and beyond. 100,000 artisans would also be trained and paid N191.5B has been set aside for this in the passed budget. “At least 5.5 million Nigerian primary school children....
