A Plateau State high court has discharged and acquitted former Governor Jonah Jang of the N6.3 billion fraud allegations levelled against him. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed 17-count charges against Jang and the Former Cashier to the Office of Secretary to Plateau Government, Yusuf Pam. Among the charges were the alleged diversion of N2 billion provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for empowering youths and women on small and medium scale enterprises and misappropriation/diversion of funds meant for the State Universal basic education (SUBEB). In a ruling on Friday, Justice Christy Dabup, said the EFCC could not prove the misappropriation, diversion and public funds entrusted to the former Governor. The court then squashed all the charges labelled against the former Governor and the government cashier, saying that it lacked merit. https://dailytrust.com/n6-3bn-fraud-court-discharges-acquits-former-gov-jang

A fresh update about the lawsuit seeking to disqualify Atiku as PDP presidential candidate. The Federal High Court in Abuja will hear the suit on Wednesday, September 14. Meanwhile, Governor Wike has insisted he has nothing to do with the legal battle. Wike said this as he distanced himself from the suit filed to challenge Atiku's candidacy, saying mischief makers were linking it to him. “People have called me throughout this morning and said all kinds of things that I went to court against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. I want to say categorically, if I have a reason of going to court, I will go to court, but I didn’t go to court," the governor said.

Why should it be Atiku's restructuring rather than the restructuring of the Nigerians. What if his restructuring is not good enough for Nigerians. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGGIEBunm4o Peter Obi attends EFAC Convention at Awka The event happened at Paul University Awka Convention Ground . Peter Obi quietly entered the arena and tried to avoid being noticed by the crowd so that he would not cause applause and disrupt the prayerful gathering. When he wanted to leave for a scheduled meeting with Governor Soludo, the National Chairman of EFAC, Bishop Samuel Ezeofor insisted in announcing his presence. When he did, the applause from the congregation was so tumultuous that some birds flying in the sky passed out . What is even more amazing is that as he was speaking, the congregation, like a surging wave, moved forward. As if already planned, everybody started recording his speech. In all my life I have never seen a Nigerian politician that is loved and adored like Peter Obi. Behold our future, the hope for our tomorrow!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNtJp5UJXOw Governor Nyesom Wike has backtracked on a lawsuit challenging Atiku Abubakar’s primary election victory, stating the deadline for filing such suits had long elapsed. Speaking with ThisDay, Mr Wike denied having knowledge of the suit and implied someone else may have filed the suit without his knowledge. “I don’t know anything about the so-called suit. I did not ask anyone to file any suit for me,” the governor told the medium. “I don’t know the lawyers, am I a kid to be filing a suit at this time. I had 14 days after the primary within which to have filed any suit. I didn’t do that then, is it two months after primary I will file a suit?” Mr Wike said. Mr Wike’s lawsuit, first reported by Peoples Gazette on Thursday, had been filed alongside another PDP member Michael Ekamon, according to filings entered before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court. The applicants also joined the PDP, Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the matter. The parties were served on July 1, and a PDP official responded to the originating summons on August 5 in Abuja. Mr Ekamon could not be reached for comments about whether or not Mr Wike was telling the truth about his knowledge of the legal action. Relations between Messrs Wike and Abubakar have become strained since the latter clinched the party’s presidential ticket and chose David Okowa as his running mate, against the recommendation of a select committee who put forward Mr Wike. The Rivers state governor polled 237 votes, against Atiku’s 371 votes, making him the candidate with the second highest votes at the PDP convention which was held in May. Constituting a reconciliation panel, party officials have intensified efforts to resolve the cold war between the duo, as they both wield strong political influence that would determine PDP’s victory or loss at the 2023 general elections |
