Five strange ‘miracles’ some pastors
perform. ... We’ve read reports of ‘strange’ things happening in African churches lately. These range from people behaving like animals to eating ‘strange’ things. ... These have all been done in the name of demonstrating “the power of God”. People have found the acts strange, different organisations have tried to intervene and one pastor has been arrested for such an act. ... However, congregants who receive such instructions never seem to complain. Here is a list of ‘strange’ things that have happened in churches: ... 1. Pastor kisses women Congregants’ buttocks : Churches encourage congregants to get married for many reasons and one of them “is fleeing temptations”. “If you cannot control yourself from sexual temptations, it’s better to get married”. But, what happens if a pastor has a number of unmarried women and would like to see them married? According to a report, to attract marriage, the pastor takes his female congregants to a beach, orders them to strip naked and kisses their behinds. ... 2.Pastor bans women congregants from wearing underwear : In the same light as pastors ordering female congregants to strip naked, a pastor in Kenya made headlines for banning his female congregants from wearing underwear to church , telling them to avoid wearing the garments “in order to be closer to God”. The pastor, described only as the Rev. Njohi, reportedly asked his female congregants at the Lord’s Propeller Redemption Church in Dandora to arrive at Sunday’s service without underwear or bras. According to the pastor, undergarments are “ungodl”y and people need to “be free in body and spirit to receive Christ”. But then, we wonder why only women were ordered to do so. ... 3. Pastor makes congregants strip : Still celebrating unclothedness in the church, in another report, a young Pretoria pastor made his congregation strip during a weeknight service. After stripping, he sat on top of them and prayed for them. It was reported that the congregation began undressing as they felt too hot. Then ‘food’ was introduced: ... 4. Pastor makes congregation drink petrol, eat grass, flowers and fire : Pretoria pastor Lesego Daniel made his congregation drink petrol. The petrol was apparently turned into pineapple juice. The reason for drinking petrol was to “take their faith to another level to connect to God”. This same pastor made his congregation eat grass. Congregants eating grass. Picture: Facebook And then it was flowers And then fire which was “turned into ice” Congregant eating fire. Picture: Facebook Pastor Lesego said: “If I say, the fire is ice, the fire listens to me, [and] what will come out will be ice. The fire must obey and listen.” He said this to the congregants during the weekly Tuesday Service at Rabboni Centre Ministries. The woman in the picture apparently confirmed that a flaming match stick indeed felt like ice after it was put in her mouth. The congregant then explained that when the match got into her mouth, it felt like she was eating ice. She said she was not scared when the man of God started the demonstration because the night before the service, she had a dream “where God came in a form of a person wearing red top” and asked if she believes in Miracles. According to the post, she did not sustain any injuries after the flaming match stick was put in her mouth. .., 5. Pastor makes congregation eat snakes and hair : Recent reports have it that Penuel Mnguni, 24, the leader of End Times Disciples Ministries church in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria, allegedly declared a snake a bar of chocolate (Chomp) for the congregation to eat. The pastor told the congregation the he had “the authority to change everything into anything and it will obey because of our authority”. Pastor Mnguni makes his congregant eat a snake. Picture: Facebook And hair And again, the same pastor ‘turned a congregant into a horse’, so he rode on his back. Congregant behaves like a horse. Gambling comes in many forms
and types. Gaming includes slot
machines, roulette, bingo, card
games and others. Betting is a form
of gambling that allows people to
bet on horse racing, cock fights and
any kind of sports. There are also
lotteries, sweepstakes and raffles.
All of these are forms of gambling
because they involve money that
you could either win or lose
The legalization of many types of
gambling has led more and more
people to engage in gambling. And
as the economic situation is getting
worse, gambling is becoming the
best option to win money and
improve the living condition. The
most affected people are the poor
and the disadvantaged who are
looking for a get rich quick way to
augment their meager earnings
and taste a better life but instead
of improving their life they end up
getting poorer and poorer because
what little earnings they have is
squandered in gambling. Gambling
has become a good way to earn
money for the poor but it is hurting
them more rather than helping
them live a better life.
Although some people claim to
have put up a business because of
their winnings in the casino, there
are countless people who have
gone the opposite way. Most
people have been better off when
they did not start gambling but
they went bankrupt when they
were addicted to the vice.
Here are reasons why you should
not gamble: ... 1. Gambling is the cause of indolence Many gamblers are depending on luck of having that jackpot money and so they tend to lose interest in their job. If you think you can win that jackpot money, do not dream of it because the more you long for it the more you will not win it. Look for a job so that you will forget about the vice. ... 2. Gambling is addictive Unless you have full control of yourself, you will most likely get addicted to gambling if your dream is to win big money. Many people think that they are just relaxing at first but they end up hooked to the vice. What hooks them is when they win for the first time. People gamble because of the money. If the person wins, he craves for more. If he loses, he wants to get back what he lost and so the cycle goes on and the person becomes addicted. ... 3. Gambling will not make you rich No matter what people say, gambling is a vice that could make you penniless if you don’t stop. A compulsive gambler will find all means to finance his vice. He will embezzle money or borrow money from people in order to gamble. The pattern of gambling is the same to all people. Win-lose-win- lose, this goes on and on if the gambler does not stop. The result is the same. The gambler always ends up the loser. I guess you know why. Gambling is patterned to be that way. There is no certainty. If you win today, you lose tomorrow. Perhaps not tomorrow but the next day or the other day, but there is no gambler who won and never lost. ... 4. Gambling causes stress Unless you always win which I’m sure rarely happens, gambling stresses a person. You cannot say that you are relaxing or just playing because if you lost a substantial amount of money, you will go home with an empty pocket plus a bad headache. Gambling is stressful especially if you are in front of the machine and the bonus does not come out. So you will be left at the edge of your chair eagerly awaiting a bonus that will not come anyway and will only come out for the next player who will take your place if you leave the machine where you have already deposited all your money. In bingo you can have a heart attack if you are only waiting for one number and finally the next number called is not yours but some other player’s number which won him that million jackpot money. Gambling is always a chance of luck. So you can never be certain what may happen next. ... 5. Gambling makes people rude and moody I have seen a lot of people who have been morally changed by gambling. The vice makes a person rude. The greed to win makes a person rude to people around him because his mind is engrossed with the money he will win. Gamblers who are already addicted to the vice will not think of other people. They will only think of how to finance their vice and how to win back their lost money. ... 6. Gambling deters the persons drive to work Because the gambler usually relies on luck, he does not seem to mind finding work. The gambler waits for the time when he hits the jackpot and become an instant millionaire. He has seen too much money already and he will not be satisfied with small earnings and small winnings. He wants the big jackpot money and he will keep gambling and longing for the jackpot. |
