Point of correction. There's NO where in my post that I profiled an entire people. I was very CLEAR and gave specific examples with evidence from the NDLEA and media over the years. The thrust of my original post was to emphasize that NOT everyone or so-called "billionaire" trader or big money spender that buys things at any high cost is legit. This has been proven over and over again with the multiple arrests of dishonest people that projected themselves in the society as "legit" millionaire importers, traders or entrepreneurs, but turned out to be armed robbers, kidnappers, fraudsters or drug barons. Because of that, I've STOPPED taking people at face value. I worked with a major multinational company in the oil and gas sector while I lived in PH from the 1990s as well and had deep interactions with folks and friends of all ethnicities from Rivers, Imo, etc.
all i know is igbos are not feeling the hardship like Yoruba and hausa. Igbos don't joke with their family welfare. an average Igbo man is very much hardworking than Yoruba. You will hardly see Igbo man marrying 2,3,4 wives unlike yorubas.

Please enjoy your emilokan government

They just like to form in hunger but na their wahala be that, who cares why southeast is silent

We need a stability and surplus of foods, why southeast is silent is less of our concern
LoL

South East the most industrious people? Yorubas that are mostly salary earners with multiple wives and children? I am a Yoruba man from Ogun state, I am telling you for free that the northern and Western regions are suffering and mostly hit by the emilokan suffer head government

The criteria for getting the money as instructed by the donor include the following,;
1.must be struggling
2.Has not insulted others while trying to make his points.
3.He is not an ethnic jingoist and sees every other person as a fellow citizen with whom he merely has a disagreement over how things should be done.
You can show interest and I will do a background check on you and if you are found worthy, you will be picked.

look for means to get money and take your father to private clinic. Naija government hospital is rubbish. You will spend several months before seeing a doctor and you will still spend money at the end. Just look for money and take him to a private hospital that is affordable.
it's not easy.

You need to find out if you Dad might be hypertensive and diabetic. That needs to put under control. Please check for that at primary health care centre.
For his eyes he needs to go to Opthalmology unit of an Lagos state general hospital. Pls the eyes can not be replaced or renewed so avoid any drugs not recommended from the general hospital Ophthalmology unit. Public hospital fees are cheaper than private .

Start with primary health center and check the blood pressure and do food changes as a precaution
Get him to take regular exercise and walking daily.
The primary health center is demanding for money for his medication while that of general hospital is the worst. We both went to a general hospital and the crowd was too much. We use a day to buy card. People shared their experience and i realized it may take more than a month before a doctor will attend to us. There are not enough doctors present. And the transportation is much. I wish i could afford a small private clinic.

You need to stop defeating yourself. And if thinking your family is cursed is the reason why you are self defeating yourself then you need to STOP listening to that.
You came lookkng for solutions and you have had some good advice take it.

For your brother contact those orhanisation provide all the details you KNOW. If the take your case its the organisations that will find your brother.

For you please applaud yourself you paid your way through university qith a great GPA. Thats is great. Look at the option of full funded schooling for MSC or Phd. These are longer term plans that usually require 1year plus planning. So research for admissiins for 2025.
You know that even people wey get money are also looking for fully funded so someone like you should DEFINITELY do the same. I can tell you that if you get fully funded admission and you present those facts online people will raise the rest of the costs for you. Please read US study thread in Travel section. Mrjojo is very correct.

To your short term needs for yourself and sister who wants to go to university. Look for services you can provide in your locality. There is nothing wrong with cleaning or laundry jobs it will provide daily needs and it will cost you less in transport costs. Your sister is more vulnerable so please watch over her or you do these kind of jobs together. 9-5jobs are few in supply so the challenge is not just you.

Your dad....most proper pharmacists provide blood pressure tests for free or a small fee like 500naira. Blood pressure tests is the pump.
Or look for Primary healthcare centre of Lagos state in your community there is at least ONE in each LGA or LCDA Easiest way to find them is ask for immunization centre for Lagos state in your. They will have nurses on ground tell them you want to check your dads blood pressure. Charges are minimal or nothing at all.

Wiith immediate effect you must cut out salt in you dads meals, no salt in yam or rice or spaghetti
And if you all cook with seasoning cube please REDUCE by half.

For skills learning look for churches that may provide free learning. Daystar does, check dsap on the internet. if its in person ypu might have to transport costs then some courses require you buying some materials for the learning

Be encouraged
You made it through youll make it through this as well.
Thank you so much for your words. I do appreciate.

My dad is having sight problem and there's a drug he do buy to relieve it. The drugs are expensive now that we can no longer afford it. I don't know if government hospital can help with the drugs or an alternate drugs to help relieve or cure it. I don't know if government hospital help with free drugs in that regards.

For your brother there are willing NGOs that can help. Please check Hope Behind Bars and Legal Access Foundation on Facebook. You can send a message to them
I don't know if these organization could help our situation

My brother was arrested alongside his colleagues for stealing company's products. They were taken to federal SARS, Lagos State. They were there for some moths before the police demanded for a million naira before he could be release. Some people help us raise #250,000 and we took it to the police but he wasn't released. Some of his colleagues had been released probably they were able to raise the money for their bail. The last time i was there, i was made to understand my brother and one of his other colleagues are still there. Presently, i can't say if my brother is still there @Ikeja SARS or not. I can't say specifically if he has been sentence or taken to a correctional centre as a remand. My dad met a senior police officer who was willing to help us know where he is presently but the officer demanded for money before he could carry out the assignment, but we don't have the money yet. In a nutshell, i don't know where my brother is presently. I had cried, cried and cried severally for God to help me locate him. I went to school with the hope of getting a good job and hopefully go after him for his release but here i am today. My mother had high blood pressure as a result of this. My family cannot even feed. My father has been falling from one sickness or the other as a result of this, and I'm really worried. I don't know who my family offended to have put us in this sorry state.

A good CGPA. I wish I could assist, but I never reach that level yet. My hope is that you see a helper, especially if you have someone abroad who is somehow related to you.

P.S. Don't marry or have children until you are financially stable. Don't let anyone deceive you that marriage or children brings blessings. You and your family are witness to how mendacious that belief is.
Thank you so much.

USA applications just close of recent but I can be in touch with you for next year applications. I believe you'll get a fully funded scholarship with your GPA.

I came from almost similar family like yours but my story changes since I moved to USA 2 years ago. Please don't give up.

You may reach out to the company for status update on your application and reason for the lack of feedback.

While at it, be very prayerful. Pray and fast without ceasing as it could be a generational curse like you said.
I got info for a particular firm that we were replaced with the top managers candidates. I wasn't the only one affected.

There's nothing like family curse here, bros.

You have a poor background caused by your dad.

It's usually very difficult to break away from such cycles, unless something extraordinary is done.

Besides, the unemployment you're currently facing is what so many other Nigerian youths are facing too.

In summary, you guys are just unlucky people with a poor family background living in a poor country

Your challenges are understandable and shouldn't be attributed to any curse or spiritualism

The only thing to do here is to keep working hard and praying for better opportunities to get your way
thank you

I dont think theres a spiritual element to it. I believe this bores down to money and a clear lack of plan.

Your dad had no stable source of income, no real business or steady side hustle and your mum, for lack of better words was unemployed. Petty trading cannot even yield profit enough to pay Nepa bills nor feed a family of 4 for a week

Yet rather than stop procreating at 2 children, your parents continued to give birth to 5.

Its possible that if they had stopped at 2 children, they ll still be poor however not at the level of poverty they are in and therefore your siblings would not need to experience the hardship they have experienced.

Your oldest brother choose a life of crime. Poverty is no excuse. Thats why we have rich kids and even politicians stealing from parastatals and positions of power. A criminal minded person will always have a "valid" reason to perpetuate crime. For example, imagine if the owner of the company that employed your brother (in good faith), took out a loan to start that business and relied on the profit off that business to not only sustain the business, pay back the loan, look after his own children's tuition, parents rent etc but he couldn't meet up because your brother choose to steal off him. Would that be fair?? (I also did not see where you said your brother used the proceeds of his crime to elevate your family/support your tuition in sch/set up your parents a new business).

Again, neither your parents appear to have any good business acumen nor hustling spirit because i didnt see where your dad went pick up driving work to support his family not your mum set up fry pan to fry akara at the bus stop to support her family. Your parents appear to havr the mentality of "i have given birth to you , its now your turn to look after me and your siblings".
This type of mentality often puts unnecessary pressure on young minds and children with little direction can be easily swayed especially if there arent decent role models in their lives.

Despite what life has thrown at you, i am glad you realised that to save people from a burning car, you need to get out first......hence the step you took to reduce the support you were sending home until u achieved your own milestones. I am afraid you will need to continue to do that for a while until your finances improve.

Keep praying, keep striving hard, stay away from crime and ALWAYS be in charge of your destiny. Dont forget where you are coming from but use that as a reminder of all the mistakes to avoid in order to get to your desired destination.

Good luck and God bless you
My mum at some point was into cleaning. She worked as a cleaner in different houses and also help some people with their laundry. She later fell sick and couldn't put up with that anymore, probably age is already taking a toll on her. She's 64 years now. My dad was into farming then, he do farm on people's vacant land. I and my younger ones do help him often, then later the land owners took over their lands for building.

Good day all..

Trust we're all doing great?

I am from a nuclear family of seven, five children and my two parents. I and my siblings grew up in Lagos. My dad is a land surveyor while my mum a petty trader. We all attended public school in Lagos (elementary and high school) I'm the third child of 5 children. I and my elder siblings had to hawk immediately we returned back from school before we could eat. Including my mum. My dad wasn't getting job but we had to survive. We were a laughing stock then in our neighborhood. We later advised our mum to put her goods in bag instead of tray, then supply to her customers. We were selling quick oat, butter, toothpaste et al. We got the goods on credit through someone and pay back after sales. We realized the profit wasn't sustainable, then we consider alternative means. We hawk during weekdays and wash cars and motorcycle weekend. With that we were able to pay our accommodation fee (a single room), put food on our table to some extent and other miscellaneous fee.

We've been on this for years. The landlord later gave us quit notice having realized we could no longer put up with the accommodation fee. My family moved into a friend's house. He lived in a room and palor. He gave us a room to live while him and his family lived in the other room. We were able to raised money after two years and rented an apartment (a single room) then moved in

My eldest brother (first child) was hit by a car when he was washing a customer's bike, he was rushed to a nearby hospital but we eventually lost him. We had to stopped the work because of that particular iccident. After several months of searching, i and my elder brother were able to get a factory work. I had plan of saving all my money with the hope of furthering my education, but family responsibility wouldn't allow me save. I later had a change of mind going to police academy, from my research, it was a free school and one would be absorbed as an ASP officer, that's automatic employment. I sat for jamb and the school post jamb at police college Ikeja, Lagos. I was shortlisted for final screening at wudil Kano. Unfortunately, i couldn't make it. I don't have much money to get the needed materials and transportation fee. It was a sad experience for me.

I continued working, but this time around, i wasn't supporting the family with all my money. I had some savings. My supervisor advised me to further my education. He claimed i can't continue this job throughout my lifetime. I took jamb the following year and got admission. I bought bike (motorcycle) with the little savings i had after paying my tuition fee and other necessity. I gave out the bike as Higher purchase. The bike man delivered six thousand naira weekly until the bike become his. I didn't get accommodation in school because i couldn't afford it. I was squatting with friends. My elder brother enrol for part time program. During holiday i often rushed down home to find something doing that could fetch me some money.

I realized my elder brother was stealing company's goods with his friends. I gave him serious warning to stop that but he wouldn't listen. I was forced to tell my parents but he denied it. I was in school when my younger brother called me that my elder brother has been arrested with his friends. After the investigation, police demanded for a million naira before he would be released. I learnt the company management has let go the case. My elder brother has been behind bar for more than 7 years now without a way out. We can't say if he's alive or dead. I saw one of his friends mid last year, and he told me most of his friends had been released having met the condition of the police officers. I'm done with school but couldn't secure a job. I've gotten to the final stage of some organization, I've done medical test but i wasn't called up. My younger brother has finished his high school since 2019 but couldn't further his education. He's very talented in playing football. My little sister finished her high school last year and the little girl was asking if she could take jamb. My dad has been seriously ill for some days now but no means of getting him drugs nor taking him to the hospital. I fear for my dad at this moment. My family struggled daily before we could have a square meal. My mum has prayed, cried, fasted nothing changes. She was saying it could be a family course. My family is gradually going into extinction.
