Sentiments aside, Essien is not a better than mikel. In his prime, Essien was one of the best DM in the world. But that time is way-past. Now, He's just a shadow of the Essien of Old. Credit to Essien, He started picking form last year with Real madrid, and if he can continue in that vein and regain his old form (which is less likely, considering his age), maybe and maybe then he can bench Mikel. No coach in his right mind would bench Mikel for Essien considering present form. And I think Mourinho is not a sentimental coach, he would play who is more effective. Altho I don't see Mikel getting regular playtime, I at least think he's above Essien in the perking order for DM
