One of the oldest City in this region, very touristic coz of the sandy beaches and the old town with has alot of Arab influence..

It has the the second busiest biggest port in Africa after Durban in S.A.. it has more Hotels and bed capacity than Nairobi..

About visiting other cities outside Nigeria, let me give a list cities I have been to outside Nigeria.

So, from a look, I know good cities.

Almost all blog and sites online showing beautiful cities in Africa puts Nairobi ahead of all Nija Cities.... as I said you are entitled to your opinion but facts are facts.

At as big and populated as Nigerian Cities but you will love what they offer... All most all Major Kenyan Cities and towns have Animal parks, museum and they are very touristic.

Nairobi has got great and more parks compared to Lagos, it is meant a tourist destination, Lagos on the other hand is more urbanized and Industrialized than Nairobi, it was meant to be an economic center, reason it has a huge GDP.

If you are looking for where to rest and go for a holiday, then Abuja, Calabar, Uyo, Enugu and others can serve that purpose..

But coming to making general comparisons, then Lagos is more than Nairobi because it has little of everything.

Totally agree with you that Lagos is bigger than Nairobi.. ofcoz its the commercial hub for 170m ppl and has a population over 3 times Nairobi.

When you go into details such as beauty,aesthetic,quality of infrastructure,services offered and importance of the city in the region Nairobi is far ahead.

Just being realistic... how can acity like lagos beat Nairobi with greanery gardens and park..

Nairobi has a national park, it has two major forest Ngong and Karura..
We have major parks around the city... Uhuru park,city park, jeevangee, Uhuru gardens just to name afew.


It's a high time we tour each others country coz this thread will never end.

Bro that's how big Nigeria is, 36 states with capitals, someone can stay in only one part of the country without knowing what is happening in other places...like foreigners in one country lol, I would tour the whole country in the nearest future by God's grace.

Tanzania just below us is bigger than Nigeria but ppl have abetter understanding of their country than Nigerians...

It's not about the size but unity and love among different communities and religion not forgetting politics.

A friend who stays in Kano has told me how beautiful and wealthy Kano city is, another person went there and still came back with same story much to our surprise, at least the North also got some degree of success, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Maidugri are also beautiful cities as I heard...

Nairobi metropolitan area was about 6.5 million people since 2009, which means that by now, it should have grown to 8 million people or more.
PLS KENYANS SHOULD TELL US THE GDP OF THIS LARGE URBAN AREA OF almost 10 million people.

As for those fools telling us lies that Nairobi slum dwellers are less than 1 million people, they should come and explain to us why Nairobi's GDP per capital is so low (lower than the national average of Kenya) despite the city being Kenya's financial centre!

This has clearly shown to the world, the largeness of the poor slum dwelling population of Nairobi who obviously contribute nothing to the GDP of the city, thereby lowering the per capital income of the city (compared to the overall national per capital income).

It's now official that the slum dwellers of Nairobi outnumber the normal city dwellers. J-E-S-U-S!

Nairobi controls almost 40% of that which gives you 30b
On a higher side give nairobi a population of 4m ppl

When you divide the two percapita is 7500..on Alower side.

You are right. Nigeria has dozens of cities developing at the same time.

The last two times I went to P/h I was impressed even the Asian that went with us was impressed.

Even with all the cities Kenya presented here I still rate Lagos and Abuja highly than Nairobi and others.

Most ppl will always tell you what you want to hear when you have verbal conversation not to kill your life ego...For genuine feedback check online on blogs and tourism sites.. Mombasa and Nairobi have far more positive feedback than any city in Nigeria. In terms of beauty of the city and diversity..

Okay, let's settle it this way.

What is the total GDP of Nairobi? Then we divide it by the 6 million people of Nairobi. If the GDP per capital is below or equal the national average, then it's obvious that half of Nairobi's population live in slums and poverty, but if it is far above the national average, (just like Lagos is far above Nigeria's average), then we know that the poor slum dwellers are not so numerous.
