Donpre:Phew, it's a risk, but you can try them with some little amounts first. I opened a Grey account but I have never really used it for anything. Geegpay still works for me, and I use Wise for my other transactions as well. |
Donpre:Wow. So what platform are you making use of now? |
A50boner:You're doing well, sir. Here's to more wins. 💪 |
I'll just go straight to the point since I actually need to go and get this job done. When you're applying to jobs on Upwork, play to your strengths. There are no gimmicks involved in this. I've shared the job I applied to and the cover letter I used to land the job. Maybe it would help someone. Here's how I did it: >> I talked about the company and the person behind the job post. Show some emotional intelligence; you're talking to another human being. I got the information about what kind of company he was by looking at what he had hired people for in the past >> I talked a bit about my writing process. I'm telling him, hey, I'm not a complete JJC in this. I've done this before. >> I addressed the rates. He mentioned this in his job post >> I showed evidence. Linked to my portfolio. >> CTA. I told him we could get on a call to discuss more about his project. And that's all there is to it. Good luck, guys. ![]() P. S. I'm Top-Rated on Upwork so maybe that played a role in this, but I promise I've only completed nine jobs on the platform.

sketcherJ:If you're doing ACH transfers, they don't count the weekends when they are counting the days required for it to get to your account. I know Geegpay usually takes two to three working days. |
XploraBen: ![]() Pending the time we find a better option, we gotta dance to Upwork's tune for now. |
XploraBen:We discussed payment platforms after I signed up. In retrospect though, I wish I'd stayed on the platform. I've earned nearly $1K working with him, and if all of that was documented on Upwork, it would have improved my reputation on the platform and made the way for better jobs. So, you can skip paying the 10% to Upwork, but everything has pros and cons |
CaptainArc:You can just remove it from your resume if you're worried about the repercussions from Upwork. It's a loophole that a client of mine used to avoid the fees and take me off the platform. Upwork is creating new stringent measures every day to stop them from losing money every day, so you need to weigh your decision carefully. A50boner:It's a pleasure, man. Let me know if it works for you |
A50boner:1. Geegpay. Grey works fine too, and Payoneer. 2. International passport is the best. You're good to go. 3. Some people make use of NIN and says it works well. You can also go through the roundabout process: A) Go to https://tin.jtb.gov.ng/TinIndividualRequestExternal B) Use your BVN to search for your TIN number C) Complete the form. A link would be sent to your email. You'll get a Request ID, usually between 2 to 15 hours D) When you get the TIN number, go back to Upwork, profile settings, tax information. Fill correctly and you're good to go. Enjoy. |
